Do you feel overwhelmed and there is so much to do? No time to get it all done.
Jesus gave us the answer in Matthew 11:28. “ Come unto me“, He said.
Stop, take a few minutes to read His Word, pray and ask Him for wisdom, strength to calm to fill your mind and heart.
Peace will come over you and all things will be accomplished. Maybe some things will have to wait until later but you will have assurance that it is in His hands.
Thinking of something to encourage those who read this, I chose a book on hymns, “Then Sings My Soul” by Robert J. Morgan. He wrote a forward “The Cure For Shot Nerves”. Thinking that is a catchy title, I read what he wrote about how the old hymns can calm the spirit and help bring peace to the soul.
It is rare in some churches to even hear the old hymns anymore and that is sad. “In the Garden” He walks with me/ and He talks with me/ and tells me I am His own. “Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and many more that encourage the heart.
Today, if you are stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or just plan discouraged, think of your favorite hymn and sing it, hum it or just let it flood your mind with how good God is, and soon you will find the comfort you need

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3
Sunday was a time for worship, family and quiet activities. Church was the priority. A special time to worship God. Almost everyone went to church.
No stores were open, it was a rare occasion when anyone went out to a restaurant to eat as most of them were closed.
No Sunday sports. No parties, and activities. It was a time when family got together. Usually a big dinner at home. Fellowship around the table where the children had opportunity to talk to parents about their experiences.
Then maybe a nap, board games, reading or quiet activity. Boring you might think. No. A time to put things into the proper order. A day of peacefulness.
In today’s society we are too busy. Church for many is not important. Parents run to do errands. Children have outside activities or the go to their room to get on social media.
We will never go back to those “old fashioned” Sundays, but let us take time for some of the things that made them special.
Worship the Lord first. Take time with your family. Put aside the busyness of work and pressure that causes stress. Make Sunday a day for memories with your family.
If you live in Florida or one of the States that are in the path of a tropical storm, you will receive warnings of a disaster that is about to come. This may cause fear or anxiety.
But God tells us in this beautiful verse that He loves us and wants us to have peace. So, if you feel stressed today, take comfort from God’s word.
Make preparations to withstand the storm but trust God to bring you through whatever storm you have in your life.
There is so much unrest and anxiety in our world today! Here are a few promises from God’s Word that will be an encouragement to you:
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 KJV
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 KJV
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 KJV
Our lives can be in chaos. We may have sorrow, sickness, problems. The world around us seems to be falling apart, but in spite of it all we can have peace in our hearts. God gives us peace that passes all understanding.
If you are going through a rough time, ask God to give you peace. You will be amazed at the result when you trust fully in Him.
