Congratulations to all graduates!! High School, College and Others who have reached a goal with hard work and perseverance. This year our family has 2 high school graduates, Michael Slater and Samuel Williams, grandsons. Both are fine Christian young men who love The Lord and our prayer is that they, along with other Christian young people, will follow the path that God has planned for them. The Bible says, Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in The Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths.

May 31, 2013Heavenly or Earthly
May 28, 2013How many people do you know that are so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly good and how many are so earthly minded they are of no heavenly good?
Memorial Day
May 26, 2013Today we honor our military. God has blessed America with freedom for over 200 years. Men have fought and died for the freedom we so richly enjoy. This weekend pray for those that are even now putting their lives on the line so we can pray, have freedom of speech and all the other things we enjoy. Pray for our country and leaders for wisdom to stand against those who would love to take away what our brave men and women fought and died for. God bless America.
Does it make a difference?
May 24, 2013The last few weeks we have heard politicians say, “What difference does it make?”
There is a story about a little boy walking on the beach picking up starfish and throwing them back into the water.
An old man came along and asked the boy, “Why are you throwing those starfish back in, there are hundreds of them, so what difference does it make.”
The little boy picked up one more and thew it in, then said to the old man, ” It makes a difference to that one.”
Every person that hears and accepts the Gospel is on the way to Heaven, and it makes a difference to that one.
This is a holiday weekend, why not make a difference in someone’s life and tell them about The Lord Jesus.
Quote for today,
May 21, 2013“God has had all there was of me to have.” William Booth
He was the founder of the Salvation Army. In those days he took people to the streets to witness for The Lord. His desire was to see souls saved. Oh that we as Christians would have that same desire today. SOS can teach you how to witness to others both one on one and at events.
Go to our training videos, watch them and if you need tracts or materials email or call SOS.
Personal word
May 18, 2013Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of my son, John R. Slater, Sr. He was a Godly man, a husband, father, grandfather,
brother and son. Also, was the pastor in several churches over the years and his main passion in God’s work was missions. He spent time in Africa, the Philippines and other places serving The Lord and winning others to Christ.
He asked me once if I thought he could be great for God. God used him in many ways with many people. I personally know of four young preachers who The Lord called home early and we sometimes question, why?
God says his ways are not our ways so we may not know why until we get to Heaven.
The assurance of Heaven and the knowledge we will see our loved ones again is the great promise God has given us. So today, I am thankful God allowed me to be the mother of John and also my son Paul who are waiting for me and we will one day rejoice together in Heaven.

A New Pledge Allegiance
May 15, 2013This was sent to us by a friend. A little long but so true.
BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID
who got an A+ for this entry
Since the Pledge of Allegiance
And The Lord’s Prayer
Are not allowed in most
Public schools anymore
Because the word ‘God’ is mentioned…..
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
NEW School prayer:
“New Pledge of Allegiance”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state.
We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks…
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’ do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I die My soul please take!
Amen
Mother’s Day
May 11, 2013The Bible says in Exodus 20:12: Honor thy father and mother: … Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and if your Mom is still on earth do something special for her.
If you are a Mom, may The Lord bless you abundantly.
If your Mother has passed on then tomorrow remember her by thanking The Lord for all she did for you.
Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms.
Are you discouraged?
May 8, 2013Billy Graham says, “Discouragement is the opposite of faith. It is Satan’s device to thwart the work of God in our lives. Discouragement blinds our eyes to the mercy of God and makes us perceive only the unfavorable circumstances. I have never met a person who spent time in daily prayer, in the study of the Word of God, and who was strong in the faith who was ever discouraged for very long.
