I Asked God

September 30, 2014

I asked GOD for strength, that I might achieve
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of GOD.
I asked for all things , that I might enjoy life
I was given life,that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing I asked for —–
But everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were
Answered
I am among all men, most richly blessed.

Matthew 6:8
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Children’s Hymn

September 29, 2014

Jesus Loves Me, This I Know
Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak but He is strong.

CHORUS: Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells so.

This morning I awoke thinking of my young grandchildren and praying for them. Most of them do not live near me but I can have an influence on their lives by praying each day for them.
My grandmother prayed for me, sang to me and was a great influence on my life. Many years after her death I was saved and this song “Jesus Loves Me” was one of the hymns that would run through my mind even before I found a church to attend because she sang it to me as a small child.
I am thankful for the great hymns of the faith, even as a great grandmother, it lifts my spirit to hear them.

If you have a need for one of your family call Tom and he will pray with you.

SOS Weekend Events

September 27, 2014

Many things are taking place this weekend. In Alabama a large training for people to work in the SOS booth at the Telledega Race in October. Training in Florida for a couple who wants to join the SOS team. As always, there are events at Flea Markets. It is exciting to watch what God can do through a few people who are dedicated and determined to follow Him.

Jeremiah 33:3

Almost Persuaded

September 26, 2014

Almost persuaded now to believe;
Almost persuaded Christ to receive;
Seems now some soul to say,
Go, Spirit, go Thy way,
Some more convenient day
On Thee I’ll call.

Almost persuaded, come, come today;
Almost persuaded, turn not away;
Jesus invites you here,
Angels are lingering near
Prayers rise from hearts so dear;
O wanderer, come!

Almost persuaded, harvest is past!
Almost persuaded, doom comes at last!
Almost cannot avail;
Almost is but to fail!
Sad, sad, that bitter wail
Almost, but lost!

More than 2,000 years ago King Agrippa told the Apostle Paul “Almost, you persuade me to be a Christian.” (Acts 26:28). Reverend Brundage expounded upon this sad story in Acts, and then ended his Sunday Morning sermon with the words “He who is almost persuaded is almost saved, and to be almost saved is to be entirely lost”.
Philip Bliss, composer of many hymns, was among the congregation listening to Reverend Brundage’s sermon. The pastor’s words left such an impression upon Bliss that he set about composing a song with the same sentiment.
Almost Persuaded was published that same year.

If you are almost persuaded but not sure email or call Tom.

Thank you, everyone, who prayed for Dorothy to go home to be with the Lord. She entered into His presence, yesterday afternoon. We will miss her sweet quiet spirit at our Senior Servants meetings.
Please continue to keep her family in your prayers, especially, Diana who is on staff of SOS.

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

If you have a special prayer need call Tom. He is always ready to listen and pray for you. 813-784-8252

Youth

September 24, 2014

SOS Events is blessed to have dedicated workers of all ages. Alex (pictured here with her Protecter) is one of the young people who help in the ministry. Alex does all the vinyl printing for our displays, vehicles and signs. She also designs posters, banners and anything that is needed to help make our booth space attractive.
It is wonderful to have talented young people willing to help in ministry that others may be saved.

1 Timothy 4:12
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Prayer Request

September 23, 2014

One of SOS Senior Servants needs your prayers today. This sweet lady has been part of the volunteer group for several years. In fact she was the first woman to come to help SOS with our Senior Servants ladies.
She is ready to go home to be with the Lord and needs to go home peacefully and without suffering.
Please pray for Dorothy and that her family will have the peace that God gives in times of trial.

Psalms 116:15
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Billy Sunday Quote

September 22, 2014

“Let’s quit fiddling with religion and do something to bring the world to
Christ.” ~ Billy Sunday
Billy Sunday was a National League baseball player in the late 1880’s. After his conversion to Christianity he left baseball and became an evangelist.
He was known for his dynamic preaching in most of Americas largest cities in the beginning of the 20th century to large crowds before electric sound systems were used.
He was a great supporter of Prohibition and his preaching helped pass the 18th Ammendment in 1919.
No scandal ever touched him. Sunday continued to preach and remained a stalwart defender of conservative Christianity until his death in 1935.

2 Timothy 4:7

Rain, Rain

September 21, 2014

Rain, rain go away! In August the Car Show in Plant City was cancelled and in September the Car Show was cancelled because of rain. However, at the Big Top Flea Market people come rain or shine. SOS is rejoicing in the five souls saved on Saturday in spite of the rain.

2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
