Celebrate New Years Eve

Trying to find an image for New Years Eve was an eye opener. Most all of the pictures were of drinking and partying. These kind of images show what our society has become. 

As Christians our prayer for you is that you will spend tonight in a way that would please the Lord. Not with alcohol,  but with clean fun and fellowship. You will be safer and not wake up with a headache in the morning.

In time past we always had a party at church. Starting in the early evening, there would be singing, games, food maybe a Christian movie and then at midnight we would begin the New Year with prayer. Sometimes we would then gather around the piano and sing for several more hours, enjoying the fellowship and brining honor to God.

So this evening have a safe Happy New Year’s Eve and may God bring blessings to you in 2017.

Are You Ready For 2017?

Are you ready for a new year? Many will make resolutions that they cannot keep because they do not have the wisdom  or willpower to follow through on the changes they want to make in life. There is only one way that we can change from our old ways to new. 

That is by trusting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, then asking him to change our behavior. There are many promises in the Bible that tells us we can depend on Him to help us make the changes in our lives that we desire to have. So do not make resolutions for New Year’s but put your trust in Jesus to make your life what you want it to be.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.


Victory in Jesus

SOS Events has a wonderful office staff who keeps the ministry going and growing. Diana Giuliano, office manager, Beka Williams, assistant, Alice Thomas, chief correspondent and in charge of scheduling and Hailey Levins, general office work. These ladies do a wonderful job keeping the ministry running smoothly and every one of them go above and beyond what the typical office workers do. 

Please keep SOS Events staff in your prayers as in everyone’s life there are personal trials that we all face. The enemy especially likes to discourage people who work for the Lord but we know that by faith and prayers we can be victorious through our Lord Jesus.

If you are facing a trial today turn to Jesus, he will give you the victory if you trust in Him.

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Wednesday a Day For Salvations

This is a picture from last week of SOS Events workers at the Wednesday Flea Market in Plant City, Fl. Twelve people came to know the Lord on that day. Today is another Wednesday and Randy and Alice are there again, along with some of the other workers who love winning souls to Christ. These workers sacrifice their time every week, setting up before 6:00 am, for the privilege of Serving Our Savior. Please pray for them today as they are already there before you even get a chance to read about them. Pray that many will be saved today.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

It Is Well With My Soul

Many are still celebrating Christmas and looking for ward to New Years Activities, but some people are hurting. Today there is a funeral for a father of 3 who was killed in an accident 2 days befor Christmas. Another friend’s brother died from cancer last week. As Christians we can say even in the midst of tragedy, it is well with my soul. If you are hurting our prayer for you is to lean on Jesus who can give you the peace and comfort you need through this difficult time.

This song was written by Horatio G. Spafford in 1873 when he was over the spot where his 4 daughters were drowned when the ship they were traveling on sank. He was on his way to comfort his grieving wife when the “peace that passes understanding” prompted him to write this beautiful hymn. 

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Peace and Joy

Christmas is over, the presents are opened, leftovers are in the fridge and the cleanup and putting away of decorations has begun. Many people feel a letdown after the long awaited day is over. However for the Christian, the joy of knowing Jesus, not as a baby in a manger, but as our  Lord and Savior brings an inner peace and joy that only we can know.

May the sprit of “peace on earth, goodwill toward men” be with you today and throughout the year everyday.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

The Savior Is Born

JESUS Birth

The night is cold and dark. Mary and Joseph know that the birth of the BABY is going to be soon. Mary is in pain, probably a little afraid. No sterile hospital, nurses or midwives for her. A smelly, animal filled stable is the birthplace for the KING of kings.

Was Joseph the only one in attendance or did he run for help? Unanswered questions about the birth of our SAVIOR. But this we do know… Mary was a person chosen by God to bring His SON into the world and she had the same physical pain and emotional feelings that we have. The Bible says Mary pondered these things in her heart.

Then the miracle. JESUS is born and they laid HIM in a manger. Mary did not know that 2000 years later we would celebrate the birth of her CHILD. So on this Christmas Eve remember the true meaning of Christmas and honor Him with your gift to Him. Give Him your love, time and service not just on Christmas but everyday.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Wise Men

The account of the wise men who came to worship Jesus is found in Matthew 2:1-12. Tradition says they were three kings who came from the east but the country they came from is not mentioned. They were thought to be 3 because of the number of gifts and kings because of the value of the gold, frankincense and myrrh.

They followed a star which appeared in the heavens until they came to Jerusalem and inquired of Herod where the King was born. Herod wanted to know more about this baby and asked the wise men to bring news of His whereabouts when they found Him. They continued to follow the star, presented their gifts and worshiped Jesus. 

Jesus was not in the manger at the time the wise men found him, as is often pictured in Christmas cards and manger scenes, but was now a young child as the Bible states. Probably about 2 years old or a little younger and was in a house with Mary his mother. Then being warned in a dream the wise men went a different way back to their country and did not report to Herod.

There is a saying,”Wise men still seek Him”. Are you seeking Jesus? What He wants is our desire to follow Him as the wise men followed the star and to worship Him and give the gift of ourselves to Him. Are you wise?

Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him

Shepards

At the time Jesus was born, sheep farmers were seen as low or little value by other people. The sheep that they bred would have probably been used as sacrifice animals in the temple in near-by Jerusalem. They were quietly getting on with their own business when suddenly Angels appeared to them. It is not surprising they were afraid!  

The angels words to them told them of Jesus and his amazing birth and how they could recognise him in a very crowded town. The song of the hosts of angels is very similar to the words sung during a sacrifice service in the temple when there were three blasts of the temple trumpets. This is only the second time in the whole Bible that a group of angels rather than one angel had appeared to people, so this proved that they had a very important message to give to them. We don’t know the names of the angels or how many there were of them, but in the Bible it says that there are millions of angels – so it would have been an amazing experience!
Being curious as to what the angels meant, they went down into Bethlehem, maybe leaving a shepherd or two behind to keep guard on the sheep.

When they had found and told Mary and Joseph what had happened to them, it says that ‘The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.’ The people they told probably weren’t just the people they saw on the way back to hills, but friends and relatives in Bethlehem and Jerusalem and the people they met in the temple when they took their sheep to be sold.

Luke 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
