Memorial Day weekend we honor our brave military veterans and active men and women who serve our Country to keep us free.
But today, the Lord’s day, let us remember Jesus death, burial and resurrection. We have freedom of eternal life because of Him. We have victory over death which is ultimate freedom.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
As America celebrates Memorial Day, we pay tribute to those who have given their lives in our nation’s wars.
This is not just a weekend to have a picnic or party with friends and relatives, but a time to remember we are free in America because of the men and women who have fought and some died to give us that freedom.
Take time in your busy schedule to pray for our troops and if you have someone in the service call, message or text them to thank them for there service.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
There is a little song “Brighten the Corner Where You Are”.
“Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do, Do not wait to shed your light afar, To the many duties ever near you now be true, Brighten the corner where you are.
Brighten the corner where you are! Brighten the corner where you are! Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar; Brighten the corner where you are!”
Today why don’t you encourage someone with a phone call, text message, note or a simple smile may make someone’s day brighter. Maybe a single Mom, a lonely person, a friend who struggling with a problem or a stranger who needs a friendly greeting. You will be the one who gets a blessing along with the person you are encouraging.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
On the SOS Events display board there is a question. “Are you 50%, 75% or 100% sure if you died today you would go to Heaven?
That is an important question, but what if you leave out the first line? It would read, If you died today you would go to Heaven.
What is the difference? The sentence that asked the question makes a person wonder if they know they will go to Heaven and makes them think about wanting to know how to get there.
Leave that out and the whole meaning changes. Now it is telling the person reading it that if they die they will go to Heaven.
Words make a difference. Change even one word and the meaning can change. Leave a word out and the meaning can change. Even rearranging words can change the meaning .
The Bible has many versions today. Some of these versions change words and even meanings of what God wants us to know.
Study for yourself and see what God wants to say to you.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Do you ever ask that question? Yesterday, Carolyn Curtis, cofounder of SOS ministry, was all ready to go to church. Everything went wrong. The worst thing was her home in Florida was extremely hot. Then she realized that her air conditioning was not working.
What to do on a Sunday? Usually it takes a long time for repairman to come so she called the company that installed the air conditioner to get an appointment.
All ready to go to church, in the car about a mile from the house when her phone rang. It was the repairman who said, “I will be there in 20 minutes.”
Stephanie and Carolyn turned the car around and headed back to the house. Why? What reason would there be for not being able to attend church?
The young repairman got to the house, and at first could find nothing wrong. But Dylan was a conscious person and decided to look again.
Thankfully, he did find the problem and resolved it. Why did all this happen on Sunday morning?
Carolyn took just a few minutes to explain the “ 3 Things God Can Not Do“.
God is in control and the great blessing Dylan invited. Jesus into his heart to be his Savior.
Whenever you’re hindered from doing something you know is right, remember God is in control and He has something more important for you to do.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:26
This church in the photo looks empty and forsaken . Many churches, especially, the small ones die because the people are not faithful.
If circumstances don’t hinder you, go to your church. It is important to encourage the Pastor. You do not want to be part of your church door closing.
Another reason to go to a good Bible believing church is to grow in the knowledge of Jesus. Also, we need the fellowship of other believers.
