Jesus is the Way

August 24, 2019

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Longing for Home

July 31, 2019

Have you ever been on a trip, in a hospital or just visiting but you are longing for home? There is an old saying “Home is where the heart is”. How true. We can be in any place and still feel at home if we are surrounded by people we love. As Christians we should be long for HOME. Our heavenly home where we shall see Jesus and be reunited with family and friends who have gone one before us. However, while we are still traveling this earth we do have our loved One Jesus, who is with us 24/7 no matter where we are. So, today, wherever you are you can feel at home with your Comforter and Friend Jesus but looking forward to the day when we will reach our Heavenly home.

Comfort for the Broken Hearted

For those of us who may be missing a loved one who has passed away, may this verse from God’s Word bring comfort.

Remembering Tom

May 14, 2019

Tom Curtis, cofounder of SOS Events Ministry, went home to be with his Lord 3 years ago today. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather but most of all he loved the Lord with all his heart. A tremendous soul winner. His goal was to see as many people accept Jesus as their Savior as he could possibly tell, then to teach and train others how to witness for the Lord. In spite of pain and physical illness he never failed to try to reach his goal and he witnessed to everyone he came in contact with until the day he left this earth to be with his Savior. SOS Events Ministry thrives today because of his vision and dedication. We miss him but are blessed to have had him in our lives.

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Preparing for a Trip

April 23, 2019

When going on a trip, business or pleasure, we prepare by making sure we pack everything we may need. Proper clothing, toiletries and identification. We are looking forward to the trip with great anticipation.

We are preparing for the greatest trip we will ever take, the journey to Heaven. The preparation should be the most important thing on our minds. The first thing is salvation. No one enters Heaven without it. Then, daily Bible reading and prayer. A pure lifestyle is important, also. Are you ready for this trip?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Just One

April 11, 2019

At the Flea Market yesterday, just one Salvation was recorded. The following story is an example of the SOS Events volunteer that goes to an event. That volunteer is like the little boy and the starfish is the person who trusted Jesus as their Savior. One life is saved and on the way to Heaven and the volunteer makes a big difference in that individual’s life.

“One day, an old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.”

Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing. Without looking up from his task, the boy simply replied, “I’m saving these starfish, Sir”.

The old man chuckled aloud, “Son, there are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?”

The boy picked up a starfish, gently tossed it into the water and turning to the man, said, “I made a difference to that one!”

“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”

Annual Meeting

January 17, 2019

SOS Events is preparing for the second Annual Meeting on February 2, at Gapway Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida. It takes a lot of work, thought and preparation. Arrange for food, music, prizes, guest speaker and all the other things that will make this Meeting a success. But, what if after all that work, no one comes? That would be sad. The invitation to the meeting is extended to all volunteers and friends of SOS Events Ministry, But you must RSVP if you are coming.

There is Someone else who is making preparation for a great meeting. He is the Lord Jesus preparing a place in Heaven for you. What if you don’t come? There is an invitation sent to you. To accept the invitation, you must invite Jesus to be your Savior. Admit you are a sinner, repent of those sins, believe in Jesus death, burial and resurrection. You can then be ready for that great meeting in Heaven. Jesus said:

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Christmas Tree Symbol of Christmas

December 10, 2018

It wasn’t until about the nineteenth century that we find Christianity absorbing the bright, cheery symbolism of the Christmas tree.  The Christians had long held the fir as a symbol of the Tree of Life.  Early Christians knew their symbolism well, as they added candles and apples to their Christmas firs.  These candles represented the light of Christ.  The apples symbolized knowledge which spawned man’s original sin according to Christian belief.  Here we see the light of Christ absolving the “fall of man” within the immortal symbol of the Christmas tree.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

A Special Note

November 24, 2018

This note is from Carolyn Curtis’ great granddaughter, 8 years old. What a blessing to have generations of Godly children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To know that the times of family gatherings will not end here on earth, but will be together in Heaven for eternity. The key is to have 2 Birthdays. Physical and Spiritual.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
