Even after we have invited Jesus into our hearts, we still sin. I am thankful that I know my sins are forgiven and that I am on my way to heaven. Yet there are times when my feelings do not reflect that assurance.
That is one reason this verse is so special to me. We can come to the Lord honestly, confessing our sins and asking Him to cleanse our hearts and renew a right spirit within us.
I want that tender heart and the joy I experienced when I first trusted Jesus as my Savior. I want my thoughts, words, and actions to please Him.
Today, let us make this verse our prayer: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
