Santa

December 16, 2014

What do you do with Santa?
You can’t ignore him because he is pictured everywhere. Your children will see and hear about him. Other children will be excited and talk about him.
Do you really want your children to find out you did not tell them the truth?
In our home, having a large family, we did talk about Santa this way.
Santa is pretend. A fairy tale like Cinderella or Snow White. Fun to think about but they are not real.
They were allowed to sit on Santa’s lap and have their picture taken but they knew that he was just a man pretending to be Santa.
The gifts they receive come from Daddy and Mommy because God gives blessings of being able to work.
We had fun with our children and played make believe with them about Santa but always told them the real meaning of Christmas is because it is Jesus birthday.
The manger scene was always in a prominent place in our home. (Still is)
We celebrated His birthday with a cake. Also, taught the true joy is in giving not receiving.
Did this hurt our children? No. They really enjoyed Christmas but never had the pain of finding out that Santa is not real and that their parents had not told the truth.
We always told them not to tell their friends because their Mom or Dad must tell them when it is time for them to know.
Have fun with your children this Christmas. Make some memories that are uniquely yours.

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

What If?

Yesterday is past but did you thank God for yesterday’s blessings?
At the end of the day we were able to thank the Lord for the fellowship of family, God’s creation as we watched hummingbirds, chickadees, cardinals, and raccoons all from our porch.
Today is a new day. Look for the blessings of this day even if it is just a small blessing.
In times of trials in life, the blessings of God are always there if we open our eyes to look for them.
If you need a blessing today and want prayer email: tom@sosevents.org.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks:for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

October

October 8, 2014

October is a very busy month for SOS Events and our staff, trainers and workers at events and we need prayer. Alabama National Fair, Talladega Race in AL, Harvest Hayride in NJ, Rodeo in FL, several Halloween events nationwide, plus the weekly Flea Markets and monthly Car Show.
Our workers get tired and they do more than double duty this time of year.
Also, the devil does not like soul winning so he will try all kinds of tactics to keep our workers occupied with other things.
More laborers are needed in all areas.
You are invited everyday to call Tom at (813)784-8242 and that invitation is open today, but if you are a person that knows how to pray please remember SOS laborers this month especially. Thank you and may God richly bless you.

Luke 10:2
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few:pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Quote

October 3, 2014

“Another day has not yet passed, today do some thing that will always last.”
T.W.C.
This is a quote from SOS founder, Tom Curtis. He is one of the hardest, most dedicated workers for the Lord that I know. He is now getting older and because of some physical problems can’t get out to witness which is his desire. He does keep busy by praying for others.
If you would like him to pray for you call him at 813-784-8242 or email
tom@sosevents.org and he will lift your needs to the Lord.

James 5:16
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Almost Persuaded

September 26, 2014

Almost persuaded now to believe;
Almost persuaded Christ to receive;
Seems now some soul to say,
Go, Spirit, go Thy way,
Some more convenient day
On Thee I’ll call.

Almost persuaded, come, come today;
Almost persuaded, turn not away;
Jesus invites you here,
Angels are lingering near
Prayers rise from hearts so dear;
O wanderer, come!

Almost persuaded, harvest is past!
Almost persuaded, doom comes at last!
Almost cannot avail;
Almost is but to fail!
Sad, sad, that bitter wail
Almost, but lost!

More than 2,000 years ago King Agrippa told the Apostle Paul “Almost, you persuade me to be a Christian.” (Acts 26:28). Reverend Brundage expounded upon this sad story in Acts, and then ended his Sunday Morning sermon with the words “He who is almost persuaded is almost saved, and to be almost saved is to be entirely lost”.
Philip Bliss, composer of many hymns, was among the congregation listening to Reverend Brundage’s sermon. The pastor’s words left such an impression upon Bliss that he set about composing a song with the same sentiment.
Almost Persuaded was published that same year.

If you are almost persuaded but not sure email or call Tom.

Going Through a Dark Time?

September 15, 2014

In the Christian life there are times of mountaintop experiences where everything is going great. Then there are the periods where everything seems dark and difficult. The Lord is there in the good times and the hard times.
Maybe it is loss of income, death of a loved one, failed marriage, illness or many other things that come upon everyone as we journey through life.
These are the times that our true faith and Christian character show through. A time when we should draw closer to God and trust in Him to bring us the through the valley.
God is merciful and He teaches us how to become more like Jesus through our trials.
If you are going through a trial today, ask The Lord to give you strength, hope and courage to get you beyond this hardship and help you grow in Christ. Remember, He is right there with you helping you to carry that burden.

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Abraham Lincoln Quote

September 7, 2014

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Abraham Lincoln
Everyday on the news we see this statement coming to pass. History repeaters itself. Christians we need to humble ourselves before God and pray for our nation.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

James 5:16
