Goodbye January

January 31, 2020

The last day of January. Praying that you had a great start to 2020. Now let us look forward to February and beyond. If our work for the Lord was good in January, let’s make February even better. Did we have some disappointments? They are behind and a new month begins tomorrow. So, goodbye January and welcome February!

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Start your week with Jesus.

Can Satan Fence Us In?

January 24, 2020

“Satan may build a hedge about us and fence us in and hinder our movements. But he cannot roof us in and prevent our looking up.” J. Hudson Taylor

James Hudson Taylor (1832-1905) was an English missionary to China. Founded the China Inland Mission which at his death included 205 mission stations with over 800 missionaries, and 125,000 Chinese Christians.

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Trust in the Lord at All Times

January 21, 2020

Sometimes we have situations in our lives that we run to God in prayer. It may be an accident, illness or even death of a loved one or friend. God answers prayer. He heals physically and we Praise Him. We don’t always understand when it seems like He didn’t hear us. Maybe it is bad news, cancer or worse, but He is there. He brings comfort and peace in the most difficult situations. We must trust Him not only in the good times but especially in the time of trial and heartbreak.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Hang in There

January 17, 2020

There is a poster that hung in my office several years ago. It had a picture of a kitten hanging on a branch of a tree and the words were, ” Hang in there”

Today things sometimes look bleak and we get discouraged but the good news is that Jesus is with us in times of discouragement and He is coming soon. What a joy to know that we shall see Him face to face, if we know Him as our Savior.

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Great is God’s Faithfulnss

January 16, 2020

A great hymn based on this scripture:

1 Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;

there is no shadow of turning with thee;

thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;

as thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:

Great is thy faithfulness!

Great is thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see:

all I have needed thy hand hath provided–

Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

2 Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,

sun, moon, and stars in their courses above

join with all nature in manifold witness

to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. [Refrain]

3 Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,

strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,

blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Faint Not

January 14, 2020

January is always an extremely busy month for the staff of SOS ministries. The office staff has end of the year reports to get finished, the shop has several projects to complete, there is preparation for the many events that take place in Florida in the winter and there are new people to be trained, some for event workers and some to be event leaders.

All this activity can cause us to get weary, but the Bible says we will reap if we faint not.

Why is all this activity so necessary? SOULS. All of the effort is with the goal in mind of winning many people to Christ.

The promise is in the verse. WE WILL REAP.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing:for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
