Politics

January 18, 2016

As a citizen of the USA we have a responsibility to be informed about the issues the people running for president and other offices in our government. As a Christian we have the responsibility to love one another.

Having watched all the current debates both Democratic and Republican I see that the candidates have many different opinions on how they are going to run the country if they are elected.

Christians also have many different opinions on who should be the next president. Sometimes our opinions are voiced in heated discussions and even arguments. We must be careful not to offend a Christian brother or sister because it can cause unrepairable damage in our homes, churches and friendships. It is better to agree to disagree than to fight among ourselves.

Keep informed, pray for our government and leaders and get out and vote. The most important thing is to love one another. Remember God is still on the throne. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. Let us not let politics separate the love we have for one another.

John 13:34  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

One Child

January 17, 2016

“It is wonderful when God saves a drunkard which He sometimes does, but it is more wonderful still when God saves little children before they become drunkards, libertines, and degenerates.”  Bob Jones, Sr.

Yesterday, two of our SOS Events  workers went to the Plant  City Car Show to witness and win souls. We had great expectations for a good harvest at this event. We expected a large crowd because the weather was beautiful and it is a holiday weekend. We were disappointed however, because the crowds were sparse and there were only three other vendors at this event.

Only one salvation. Should we be disappointed? No! This one salvation was a young boy, eight years old, who made a decision to follow Jesus. God is the One who brings the increase and He knows what this one little boy will become.

Great preachers, Billy Graham, Billy Sunday, Adrian Rogers, Bob Jones Sr., Charles Stanley, Jerry Falwell and many other preachers too numerous to name were once little eight-year-old boys. We rejoice that this one boy was saved yesterday and continue to pray with us that he will grow in Christ.

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Christian Marathon

January 16, 2016

Christian life is like running a marathon. First a person must decide to run in the race.

The day we accept Jesus Christ as payment for our sin is the decision to begin the Christian race.

The marathon runner must train. Our training as a Christian begins by Bible reading, prayer, church, learning to witness and obeying God.

Proper food is very important to the marathon runner. The right amount of vitamins and carbs are important to be able to have strength to finish  the race. The Christian must have proper food also. We get our strength from the Word of God the Bible and direction from the Holy Spirit.

Running in a marathon is not easy, there are health risks involved but the runner gladly accepts the risks to finish the course. The  Christian race is not easy either but we must decide to finish our course.

How are you doing in your Christian race? The marathon runner does not give up or quit and as a Christian we must not quit serving the Lord no matter how long or hard life may become. Our prize is worth much more than the marathon winners. Our prize is our Savior telling us, Well done thy good and faithful servant. Matthew 22:21

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

What’s In Your Wallet?

January 15, 2016

What’s in your wallet? What you carry in your wallet or purse can make a great difference in someone’s life.

Every Christian should carry tracts wherever you go. Keep one or two in your wallet. Several in your purse. Always have them in your car, but don’t leave them there.

When you are in a grocery store, market, work, school just say sweetly “I have something for you to read.”

Most everyone will accept a tract and it is a way to tell others how they can go to Heaven.

If you need tracts, contact SOS Events and we will send you 10 tracts free.

Got Problems?

January 13, 2016

No problem is too great to place in God’s hands.

What a true saying on a church sign. God will be with us in any problem great or small.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Reflection & Future

January 12, 2016

Our 15 years of marriage has been special with trials and learning experiences for Carolyn & I. God allows trails to increase our faith. We look back and can see what GOD has done. Carolyn loves me & I love her and GOD loves us, nothing can stop GOD as He leads, guides and directs us and the Ministry. We both enjoy all God has provided.
The ministry has brought love joy & peace to many including Carolyn & myself. Pray that SOS Events ministry will grow in 2016 so we can reach thousands more of hurting people who do not know Jesus Christ.
We need motivated people who have GREAT faith. Let us pray Christ will remove evil from, GOVERNMENT,SCHOOLS, BUSINESS & HOMES. Motivation is how it starts you must be a Christian & the Spirit must live in you. Would you work with us Personally or support the ministry financially? We will teach you how to be a leader in your town.                                 Contact (tom@sosevents.org ) or check out our website at http://www.sosevents.org.

Pray for Our Military

January 11, 2016

This is a photo of young adults in the Army training to protect our Country. In this photo the young man on the right lower corner is Tom and Carolyn Curtis grandson.

Pray for our military. Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines. These men and women need prayer for protection as they serve all over the world. Also, pray for them to hear the Gospel and that the Christians in the military will be witnesses for Christ to their fellow servicemen.

2 Timothy 2:3  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Power of Prayer

January 10, 2016

“We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little. Many services, but few conversions; much machinery, but few results.” – R.A. Torrey

Unfortunately many churches today are like the quote by R. A. Torrey, they have many services, few conversions and few results. This is a good way to evaluate a church.
Prayer meeting is the key. Is it just another service or activity or do people actually pray. Unfortunately in many churches, prayer meeting has become a midweek service. Much activity but no prayer. You can have a part in changing that and bring power back into your church. How?

Start with prayer yourself, everyday pray for your Pastor, church leaders, Sunday School teachers. Teach your children and grandchildren to pray. Get a small group or even one friend and while others go to activities you spend that time in sincere prayer. Our churches need power not programs. Action not activity. More service not services.

If you have been guilty of prayerlessness, confess that to God, ask forgiveness and start today to make prayer the most important part of your day. Let us be part of the solution to bring power into our local church.

2 Thessalonians 1:11  Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
