5 Questions

January 12, 2018

Five questions to ask yourself when studying God’s Word from Pastor Jonathan Watson in Appomattox, VA:

“Simple questions I try to ask myself every time I study God’s Word.”

– Is there a sin I need to confess?

– Is there a promise I can claim?

– Is there an attitude I need to change?

– Is there a command I need to obey?

– Is there an example I can follow?

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Christian Life

October 11, 2017

How do you keep going for the Lord after many years? This question was asked Carolyn Curtis (co-founder of SOS Events Ministry) at a Missions Conference recently. Her answer, “Guidance of the Holy Spirit, daily Bible reading and prayer and Godly habits,” we cannot be consistent in the Christian life without all three.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Scripture

Rainbows

September 21, 2017

This photo was taken yesterday just before Prayer Meeting in Appomattox, VA. What a beautiful reminder of God’s love and protection for us. His promises are true. He promised never to destroy the earth again with a flood, and though we see storms in local areas, He also promised that He would be with us through the storm and reminds us with a beautiful rainbow.

Genesis 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

Eclipse

August 21, 2017

Once every 18 months a complete total eclipse occurs somewhere in the world. Today in the northern USA this wonderful natural event will take place this afternoon. From Georgia northward schools are closing, highways are crowded with people traveling to get a better position to see this unusual sight. Any beautiful occurrence or wonderful thing in the heavens or on the earth reminds us of one thing that the Bible, God’s Holy Word tells us in the very first verse:

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Confused?

August 15, 2017

GOD is the author of peace. GOD is not the author of confusion. The answer is to draw close to God through Bible reading and prayer. Also, seek godly counsel from a trusted Christian, pastor or friend.

1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
