It Is Well

September 20, 2018

Do you have peace in time of heartache and trouble? Is it well with your soul? May this story of a great hymn bring you comfort and peace.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ

Horatio Spafford had a nice life in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and five children and always welcomed guests in their home. Then in 1870, his 4-year-old died of scarlet fever, and in 1871 the Great Chicago Fire destroyed most of his investments (which were in Chicago real estate).

In 1873, the family wanted to sail to Europe for much-needed time away from their tragedy and to help in a revival, but on the day of departure, Horatio had a last-minute business emergency. He sent the family on ahead and planned to follow on another ship in a few days. But their ship was struck by another ship and sank in 12 minutes—the remainder of his four children died and only his wife was saved and brought to England. He immediately set sail to be with his wife, and as his ship passed the place where his daughters drowned, he penned It Is Well, and music was composed to accompany it in 1876.

It Is Well With My Soul

When peace like a river, attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll

Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say

It is well, it is well, with my soul

It is well

With my soul

It is well, it is well with my soul

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,

Let this blest assurance control,

That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,

And hath shed His own blood for my soul

It is well (it is well)

With my soul (with my soul)

It is well, it is well with my soul

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought

My sin, not in part but the whole,

Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul

It is well (it is well)

With my soul (with my soul)

It is well, it is well with my soul

It is well (it is well)

With my soul (with my soul)

It is well, it is well with my soul

Jesus, Our Engineer

September 19, 2018

“When the train goes through a tunnel and the world becomes dark, do you jump out? Of course not. You sit still and trust the engineer to get you through.” Corrie ten Boom

Proverbs 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

President Trump

September 18, 2018

SOS Events Ministry is careful not to express political views, however, as Christians no matter how we vote, we have a responsibility to pray for our leaders of our Country. We are to respect those who are in authority and be thankful that we have a President who honors God. So today, if you agree or disagree with President Trump, pray for him and the other men and women in office.

I Timothy 1&2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Pray for Your Pastor

September 16, 2018

Your Pastor has many responsibilities. He usually is a husband, father, maybe a grandfather and he also has his church family to oversee and Shepard. He needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that he can fulfill all his responsibilities. On Sunday morning especially you can help your Pastor by praying for him and by not going to him before service with problems or questions (unless it is an emergency). Show your Pastor and his family love and respect, God has called him to serve you.

Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Are You In Love?

September 14, 2018

“Christianity is a love relationship between a child of God and his Maker through the Son Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit.” Adrian Rogers

A true Christian is in love with Jesus and has a personal relationship with Him.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

What Have You Done With Jesus?

September 13, 2018

That is a question that each person has to decide for themselves. God has given us free will to choose. Believe that Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection as atonement for sin or reject Him. It is the difference between spending eternity in Heaven or Hell. It is a simple choice. If you think you will wait and decide later, that is a choice. We are not guaranteed another opportunity, life is uncertain. Accidents, ill health and death can happen and we may not have time to accept Jesus later. What have you done with Jesus?

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Community Event

September 11, 2018

Fourteen people made salvation decisions at a Community Event in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Steve Slater, team leader, trained two couples and they went to their first event. What a wonderful example of how God uses the “3 Things God Can Not Do” to led people to the Lord and give confidence to new soul winners. The highlight of the day was when a uniformed police officer took time to come into the SOS Events booth to be saved. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness as we Serve Our Savior. He brings the increase.

1 Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
