Christmas Stockings-Symbol of Service

December 14, 2022

If you think about it, it’s a bit strange for someone to put goodies in an old sock. But like many Christmas traditions, the tradition of Christmas stockings comes from an old legend.

A long time ago (so the story goes), a poor man had three daughters and couldn’t afford to give them a dowry (money or goods given to the groom’s family by the bride’s family). In those days, it was very hard for a woman to get married without a dowry. A Christian bishop named Nicholas heard about the problem and wanted to help, but the man refused to accept money. One night, Nicholas threw three balls made of pure gold in through the open window of the man’s house. Each one landed in a stocking hung by the fire to dry. The next morning, each daughter found a gold ball in her stocking. With this bounty, they were all able to get married.

Stockings can remind us of the importance of service. The greatest example of service is Jesus Christ. He always “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38).

Take some time to think about the Savior’s selfless acts of service. How can you give Christlike service and show kindness to others this Christmas Season?

Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Limerick, Pennsylvania

August 17, 2022

The SOS Events Team in Pennsylvania went to the Limerick Community Day.

They had the privilege of leading 2 people to knowing Jesus as their Savior. Also, one person had the assurance of salvation.

Sometimes we look at the results from an event and are disappointed because more people did not come into the booth to hear the gospel. But it is not our responsibility to bring them in. We must remember that there is rejoicing in Heaven over one person that repents.

Was Limerick Community Days a success? Absolutely! Let us rejoice together and thank you Pennsylvania Team for your faithfulness.

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Luke 15:7

SOS Events, A Life Saving Ministry

February 24, 2022

Many people ask what the meaning of SOS is, Serving Our Savior is what the letters stand for, but more importantly it is what the team members feel in their hearts.

Alabama leader, Ronnie Burlison has been busy in Mississippi and Tennessee as well as his home State Alabama.

He took the SOS Events “3 Things GOD Can Not Do” training to a church in Corinth, MS where they had training in a gym.

Then onto First Baptist church in Lexington,Tennessee.

At Gallatin, Tennessee he set up the tent and display for Liberty Baptist Church.

All 3 of these churches are planning events in 2022.

Ronnie is also working on a new training video for the website that can also be used in churches or groups.

Thank you Ronnie and your team for all the many hours of work you do for SOS Events. Ronnie is also a missionary with SOS Events.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. I Corinthians 15:58

No Room

December 21, 2021

Joseph must have been frantically looking for a place to stay for the night. Mary was probably already in labor. She was young, it was her first child and she was going through the same pain in childbirth that every mother has when giving birth. Bethlehem was full of travelers. It was a small village with a very limited number of inns. Maybe only one, and the was no room. The innkeeper took pity on Joseph and Mary and allowed them room in his stable.

Most people look at the innkeeper as unfeeling but if you think about it he really did an act of kindness, plus scripture was being fulfilled.

If the innkeeper had known who was to be born in his stable, maybe he would have given up his own room for JESUS.

JESUS wants the best from us. Our gift to Him this Christmas should be giving Him every room in our heart.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

We had a great turnout (15) for SOS Event Training at Faith Baptist Church in Lake Placid, FL on Sunday. Co-founder Carolyn Curtis and Stephanie Curtis were the Event Leaders. I’m looking forward to see how God is going to use the Faith Baptist Church SOS Team to build the Kingdom.

1 Corinthians 2:9 – But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Faithful Senior Sevants

September 3, 2021

Yesterday, many of SOS Events Senior Servants came to the Curtis home to work getting out the monthly, “Life Saver News”.

These ladies dedication is appreciated. Senior Servants started over 10 years ago. The 3 ladies who were our first Senior Servants have gone home to be with the Lord, however, many more ladies have volunteered over the years. If everyone comes there are 24 faithful ladies who help get out the newsletter each month.

Their rewards will be in Heaven someday, but the joy of a job well done, food and fellowship gives them happiness when they get together now.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

God blessed the Back to School Event at Fellowship Baptist Church in Thononosassa, Florida on Sunday with 30 decisions. 28 salvations and 2 children who needed assurance.

It was a family team with SOS Events. Carolyn Curtis with daughters Stephanie and Graceanne (taking the photo) were the volunteers. It is wonderful to see a family serving the Lord together. The Lord blessed and all the Praise is given to Him.

I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

It is a Privilege to Serve Our Savior

August 5, 2021

It is a privilege to Serve Our Savior with SOS Events Ministry. Thankful for every missionary, trainer and volunteer who has been a witness for the Lord Jesus in the last 20 years. Thank the Lord for all the souls who have come for salvation and assurance in those years. Thank you all for your service for Him.

SOS at VBS

June 14, 2021

This photo is from Scott Lake Baptist VBS Family night. We had several people counseled who needed assurance of salvation. It was excellent experience for three of our teens to practice familiar territory. Report from Team Leaders Bob and Ginger (on the right)

SOS Events is at many different kinds of events. Vacation Bible School at a church is a wonderful place to witness to both children and adults. Parents come to see what the children have learned or on a special time especially for them.

People listen one on one and respond to a personal presentation of the gospel. At a “churchyard” event all the names of people who make decisions are given to the church to follow up.

Matthew 5:16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
