Marriage

September 5, 2016

This photo was taken 36 years ago today. Congratulations to Wil and Danielle Slater. They were both only 18 years old and have stayed true to one another and have served the Lord together through many years of happiness and trials. It is a great blessing to see marriages that endure the test of time.

There is another marriage that Christians can look forward to that will last for eternity and that is the “marriage supper of the Lamb”. That is when the bridegroom, Jesus, takes His bride “the church” to be His. The church is all New Testiment Christians who have trusted in Jesus to be their Savior. What a glorious wedding feast that will be. Are you going to the Wedding?

Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

One Sinner

September 4, 2016

Sometimes we are disappointed when only one person repents and gets saved at an event that SOS Events participates in. The effort to go, set up a canopy, get workers, pray, prepare, pay for and all the things that must be accomplished before the event even starts, then after that only one soul.

This is what happened on Friday night this week in Pennsylvania at an event. Then we remember that God is in control and the joy in Heaven over this one person is taking place. We do not know how God will use this person in the future. So today we also rejoice in this one soul that made a decision to follow Christ. All the work and effort put in by  SOS Events volunteers is worth that one person and they will be rewarded for faithfulness because God looks at our heart.

Joy in the Morning

September 3, 2016

The storm has passed our area. The electric companies worked tirelessly to restore power to the thousands of Floridians who lost electricity, cleanup of downed trees and flooded homes are now in progress. Waking this morning to sunshine and a new day there is praise in my heart to the Lord for safety and His wonderful mercy and care. The quote by Govenor Rick Scott is so true, “You can rebuild a home. You can rebuild property,” Scott said. “You cannot rebuild a life.”

One man did loose his life in the storm, and we sorrow for the loss of life, but it could have been so much worse. So if you are working to clean the debris and mess left behind, take a moment to thank the Lord for His mercy and look at the sunshine after the storm. Joy comes in the morning.

Psalms 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Hurricane

September 2, 2016

A Hurricane Is passing through our area in Florida and things can get a little frightening. Total darkness with no electricity during the night. Strange sounds of thunder, lightning and trees blowing against the house. That is when everything is out of our control and the only one you can trust in is God. Total dependence on Him for peace and safety.

Storms in life are like that, also. Sometimes things seem dark and frightening. The feeling of helplessness because things are beyond our control. Just like the hurricane, the only One we can turn to is the Lord.

Psalms 91:2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

God’s Plan

September 1, 2016

Sometimes events cannot be held because of stormy weather and yesterday was one of those days in Florida. A tropical storm shut the Wednesday, Flea Market down so no decisions for Christ. We get disappointed when our plans get changed and things don’t go the way we plan, but that is the time to remember that God is in control and He knows our heart.

So our team didn’t get to witness but, a lot of office work got done. So we are Praising the Lord for His goodness.

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Seven Decisions for Christ

A Parking Place

August 28, 2016

This is the final true story of children’s answers to prayer, however, there are many more that could be shared as God delights in the simple faith of children.

When Tom’s daughter, Allison, was small she was excited to go to the fireworks on 4th of July. Not wanting to disappoint her Tom drove to the busy park where the fireworks were to be displayed. There was not a parking place to be had in that crowded area that evening. He circled round several times without success.

Alison told her Dad that Jesus would find them a parking place. Tom looked in the rear view mirror and watched as Allison prayed this prayer, “Dear Jesus, my Daddy needs a parking place. Would you please give him one.”

Just then a man knocked on the window and asked Tom if he had any children in the car. Tom answered, “Yes, my daughter.”

The man said, “Every year we save a parking place for someone with a child, pull under our carport.” God hears and answers prayer.

Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The Necklace

August 27, 2016

Carolyn had lost her necklace that Tom had given her for a wedding gift. After searching everywhere she feared the necklace had been lost on a trip they took to Tennesee. She was upset about loosing this special gift and told her daughter of the loss.

Beka, Carolyn’s granddaughter, who was only about 3 years old, heard about it she decided to pray that Grandma’s neck-a-lace would be found.

Carolyn was resting and looked in the full length mirror in the motor home where she lived, and saw a shiny reflection on the floor against the bed. The area had been vacuumed and nothing had been there there, but looking closer, there it was. The prized necklace. Immediately she called Beka to thank her for her prayers. The neck-a-lace had been found. Once again God answered a child’s  prayer.

Jeremiah 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
