Jesus is the One to look to for answers about life and death. He came into the world to die on the cross that we can have eternal life. But, that’s not all. He gives us abundant life here on earth.
We can look to Him for comfort in sorrow. Healing in sickness. Joy in trouble. Peace in chaos. Calmness in times of fear.
Sometimes we get discouraged, especially in this time of uncertainty. We live in a troubled world. Unrest, illness, politics, finances and many other things that may be bothering you.
God’s Word is full of encouragement. He tells us to keep on helping others. We can overcome our discouragement by doing things for someone else.
Love the Lord with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Let us not be weary, but keep on and we will reap. Joy and contentment can be ours in this troubled time.
Thinking of something to encourage those who read this blog, I chose a book on hymns, “Then Sings My Soul” by Robert J. Morgan. He wrote a forward “The Cure For Shot Nerves”. Thinking that is a catchy title, I read what he wrote about how the old hymns can calm the spirit and help bring peace to the soul.
It is rare in some churches to even hear the old hymns anymore and that is sad. “In the Garden” He walks with me/ and He talks with me/ and tells me I am His own. “Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and many more that encourage the heart.
Today, if you are stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or just plan discouraged, think of your favorite hymn and sing it, hum it or just let it flood your mind with how good God is, and soon you will find the comfort you need.
Do you feel like you have many “nevers” in your life?
This coronavirus will never be over.
I will never find a job.
This loneliness will never go away.
God never answers my prayers.
Good news. Read this Bible verse. One of many in God’s Word that gives us precious promises and hope. God is faithful. Will NEVER leave us or forsake us. Just trust Him and He will answer in His perfect timing.
You may feel like the one who is about to fall into the hole, or you are helping to carry your friend, neighbor and fellow Christian. At this time of uncertainty and confusion, we need lift one another in prayer.
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; Ephesians 1:16
-I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men. 1 Timothy 2:1
Our world has changed for everyone. It has become the “normal” thing to wear masks wherever we go.
A year ago, we would never see a bride and groom wearing face coverings at their wedding.
When our world turns upside down and everything changes, there is one thing that never changes. God’s love for us. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever,
Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The bride and groom in this photo are Carolyn Curtis grandson and his new bride.
Patricia, one of our SOS Events Leaders in Alabama, called the office with exciting news. She had the opportunity to witness to her 11 year old grandson, Philip.
He was not sure that he was going to Heaven. Philip had not been ready to be saved even though he has Godly parents, attends church regularly and goes to a Christian school.
Patricia talked with him and then used the “3 Things God Can Not Do” tract to explain to him the need of asking Jesus to forgive his sin. He finally understood, invited Jesus to be his Savior. He was ready!
At this time when events are few, we must be looking for individuals who may need salvation. Personal witnessing to family, friends and whoever we come in contact with is our responsibility.
1 Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
When everyday things seem to get worse, especially if we listen to the news on TV, radio or other media, God give us blessed promises.
Jesus promised us peace in our hearts. The world around us may seem like gloom and doom, butwe can have complete peace and freedom from fear. Cast all your cares upon Jesus. He cares for you.
