Peace be Still

May 6, 2016

On Wednesday the sky was dark, thunder, lightning, wind, rain and threat of hail. Not a day that SOS Events could set up a booth at the Flea Market. Every other day this week has been beautiful, sunshine in Florida. Sometimes we wonder why God would let it storm on a day when souls could be saved but He is in control and we trust Him.

Life is like the weather, sometimes our days are full of sunshine and other times there are storms. We are quick to Praise Him in the good times but when the trials come, do we Praise Him then?

Jesus is willing and able to still the storm in our lives just as He said to the sea, “Peace be still” and immediately the storm stopped. He is with us in the sunshine and He is with us in the storms. He will never leave us or forsake us, so yes, we do need to Praise Him in the storms of life.

If this is a time in your life that you are going through a storm allow the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to bring peace to your troubled heart. Remember, there is always sunshine after the rain.

Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Your Salvation

May 5, 2016

A wonderful evangelist of the last century was John R. Rice. He was a great man of God, the founder of the Christian newspaper Sword of the Lord, song writer, author and soul winner. His wisdom which came from God and the Bible is reflected in the following quote.

“When you get saved, you get saved not because you deserve it, but because you simply let God save you and because you confess your own poor sinful state and your inability to save yourself.” —John R. Rice

Ephesians 2:8 & 9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Give Thanks

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Bitter or Better

April 29, 2016

“Challenges in life can make you either bitter or better.”

James 3:14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

Hebrews 6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

Hot, Cold or Lukewarm

The church is not the way to heaven; the church is the sign that points to heaven.” – Adrian Rogers

This week witnessing to a man in the hospital, he said he was angry with the church that he attended because he was always asked to give money. He wanted nothing to do with church or God because of a bad experience with a clergyman.

How sad that some denominations and some churches think more of money and church attendance than they do of winning people to the Lord. In this particular instance the church was not a Bible believing church but trusted in tradition and ritual. But sometimes even our “good” churches focus on programs instead of winning souls to the Lord. God sent His Son, Jesus, for one reason, to die so that we might have eternal life and have a home in Heaven. It must break the heart of God that we have become lukewarm and He will hold each church and individual responsible for what we have done for Him.

Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Children

April 22, 2016

The Bible says that children are a heritage from the Lord. We have been blessed with some wonderful children. So today I am thanking the Lord for the wonderful family he has given and I trust that you will be praising the Lord for your family also. If you have a son or daughter and grandchildren also, take time today to tell them you love them, give them a call if they live far away, or the best thing you can possibly do is keep them always in your prayers.

Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

My Hope

April 19, 2016

My hope is built on nothing lessThan Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
Refrain
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,

All other ground is sinking sand;

All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,

I rest on His unchanging grace.

In every high and stormy gale,

My anchor holds within the veil.
Refrain
His oath, His covenant, His blood,

Support me in the whelming flood.

When all around my soul gives way,

He then is all my Hope and Stay.
Refrain
When He shall come with trumpet sound,

Oh may I then in Him be found.

Dressed in His righteousness alone,

Faultless to stand before the throne.
Refrain

This wonderful old hymn is so true. Jesus is everything to the Christian. In Him we put all our hope. He is our rock and our salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:9

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

The Church

April 18, 2016

Jesus did not die so that we would go to church; He died so that we would become the church.

1 Corinthians 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

What’s New?

April 17, 2016

Sunday begins a new week, it is a new day, an opportunity to start a new life in Jesus for those who have never had their sins forgiven. God gives us a new heart when we accept Jesus as our Savior. He turns darkness to light, sadness to joy, and sinner to Saint.

Everyday is a new day to draw closer to God and be more like Him. Are we perfect? No, but we are forgiven.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Colossians 3:10

Creator

April 15, 2016

Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Great Creator, God himself. As I sit by the bedside of my very ill spouse I can view with wonder how our bodies react to heal themselves. The doctors have even given God the Glory for the resilience in the body. We have seen many small miracles.

Just think, when you cut your finger or maybe break a bone in your arm or leg then a few weeks later everything is back to normal. You may have a scar from the cut or a slight limp from the break but you are back to being able to function normally.

Sin is like that. When we sin and ask forgiveness, God forgives completely, however, there may be a “scar”. A broken marriage leaves children with only one parent in the home, theft may bring jail time, drinking may cause illness or death and on it goes. Are we forgiven? Absolutely! God not only created our wonderful body He made a way to be forgiven of all our sins through trusting in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
