New Year’s Eve

December 31, 2017

Many people will be celebrating New Year’s Eve tonight drinking, going to parties, etc., only to start the New Year with a headache and hangover. We can start our New Year with a clean heart. Christians take time this evening to pray for forgiveness for the unconfessed sins that we have committed. If you have never accepted Jesus as your Savior there is no better way to start a new year than becoming a new person in Christ. Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you and your loved ones peace and joy that only the Lord can give.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

New Year’s Resolutions

December 27, 2017

Thinking about a New Year’s Resolution? Usually it is something like, “I am going to diet, or I will exercise, I will stop some bad habit, I will turn over a new leaf.” Whatever it is you want to change in your life for the New Year lasts a few days, a week or maybe even a month. The problem is most of us do not have the willpower to continue our resolution for a long period of time.

For a real life change there is only one way to do it and that is through Jesus. If you are not a Christian, you need to call on Him to be saved. If you are a Christian, then you need to call on Him daily for help to do whatever you need to do to make changes in your life to make you what you need to be. Without Jesus life changes are hard if not impossible. It is still a few days until The New Year. Why wait? Call upon Jesus today and start 2018 right.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The Wise Men

December 23, 2017

The account of the wise men who came to worship Jesus is found in Matthew 2:1-12. Tradition says they were three kings who came from the east but the country they came from is not mentioned. They were thought to be 3 because of the number of gifts and kings because of the value of the gold, frankincense and myrrh.

They followed a star which appeared in the heavens until they came to Jerusalem and inquired of Herod where the King was born. Herod wanted to know more about this baby and asked the wise men to bring news of His whereabouts when they found Him. They continued to follow the star, presented their gifts and worshiped Jesus.

Jesus was not in the manger at the time the wise men found him, as is often pictured in Christmas cards and manger scenes, but was now a young child as the Bible states. Probably about 2 years old or a little younger and was in a house with Mary his mother. Then being warned in a dream the wise men went a different way back to their country and did not report to Herod.

There is a saying,”Wise men still seek Him”. Are you seeking Jesus? What He wants is our desire to follow Him as the wise men followed the star and to worship Him and give the gift of ourselves to Him. Are you wise?

Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him

Our Words

November 30, 2017

An old saying, “Sticks and Stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” This statement is totally untrue. Our words can encourage, uplift and help someone else, or they can deeply hurt and wound. Once spoken we cannot take them back. God tells us in his word to speak good words.

Trained Workers

November 29, 2017

All of the Trainers, team members and supporters with SOS Events Ministry are important. Teams from across the USA and beyond are a true blessing and hundreds of souls have come to Christ this year. On January 20, 2018 from 10-2 there will be a meeting of all Florida Trained Workers in Lakeland. This is a chance to meet the Key Leaders, the Board Members and hear a special speaker who will motivate us to Serve Our Savior with renewed excitement to win souls. If you are working with SOS Events and live outside of Florida you are more than welcome to attend. We do need an accurate number of people coming as lunch will be served so look at your calendar and let us know if you plan to attend. Call the office 813-494-7512 or email info@sosevents.org.

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

Love One Another

November 27, 2017

While many of us are preparing for a joyous Christmas Season, there are also many around us who are really hurting. For some it may be Christmas without someone they love who has died, for others it may be illness of a spouse or child that may end in death and then there are those people who are ill themselves or are lonely because they have no family or close friends. We need to look around and have compassion on those hurting people. A phone call, text message, card, visit or invitation to share your festivities may be just the thing that will help them get through the holiday season. And always keep them in your prayers. As Christians we need to love one another as Jesus commanded.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Those in Authority

November 14, 2017

Praise the Lord for the freedom of speech that we have in the United States of America. However, the mainstream media have taken politician bashing beyond a level that is good for our country. That includes local, state and national politicians no matter what party they belong too. As Christians, we should be praying for our political leaders rather than complaining and repeating rhetoric that may or may not be true. Today, join with us to pray for your local leaders, Governor, President and Vice President that they may have wisdom to govern with biblical principles and more importantly that they may be saved if they are not.

I Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Humble and Committed

November 12, 2017

Tom Curtis, founder of SOS Events Ministry, kept a daily journal with prayer requests and his thoughts about family, friends and Christian living. These journals are a blessing as we now have in his own handwriting his prayers and goals for the ministry.                                                  In a journal from the year 2000, before SOS Events was founded, there were two words he used to describe a successful Christian, especially a soul winner. They must be humble and committed. Traits that he displayed in his own life.                                                                             Let us take a lesson from a man who loved the Lord with all his heart and not only wrote encouraging words but lived them daily.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Great Opportunity

October 31, 2017

You have an opportunity tonight, Halloween, to witness to people that come to your home for trick or treat. When you give out candy you can also give a gospel tract. Some of our SOS events partners are setting up the “3 things God cannot do” display in their yard. This has been very successful in the past. Not only for children but for their parents and teenagers. Do not let this opportunity to win souls pass you by.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
