Worry

February 9, 2016

SOS Events is blessed to have many volunteers to help in the ministry. Our Senior Servant ladies are a good example of some of those people. Knowing that everyday we share something on the blog, some of the ladies bring little sayings to share with others. Thank you Nancy for the following  saying:

“Worry is like a rocking chair–it give you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere.”

The Bible says:  1 Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Do It Now

February 8, 2016

James 4:14  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
The Bible says that our life here on earth is short and implies that death is unpredictable. How true. That is why we must take advantage of every moment we have.
The most important thing is to be ready. Do you think you have time and are waiting to be saved? Don’t wait any longer. Today may be your last opportunity to ask Jesus to forgive you.

Have unresolved problems in a relationship? Tomorrow may be to late. Restore your broken friendship today.

Things to do you have been putting off until a more convenient time? Do it now.

Give your spouse, child or friend a hug today and tell them how much you love and appreciate them. You have today. Don’t waste it.

Are You Sitting?

February 7, 2016

Could a mariner sit idle if he heard the drowning cry? Could a doctor sit in comfort and just let his patients die? Could a fireman sit idle, let men burn and give no hand? Can you sit at ease in Zion with the world around you damned?”

Leonard Ravenhill

People around us are dying without Christ. We need to stop sitting and start witnessing. All of us can pray for the lost and we can had out a tract. Most of us have opportunities to witness to someone, a delivery man, a wrong number on the phone, a person in the grocery store. Look for people to tell about Jesus. When you get to heaven, do not go in empty handed? Many Christians have never won anybody to Jesus in their lifetime. How sad. Do not be one of them. Tell someone about Jesus today.

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

A Dogs Life

February 6, 2016

“God help me be the person my dog thinks I am.” This is a church sign with a lot of truth.

If you have a dog, you feed him, provide shelter, love him, watch that he is comfortable and he or she is your companion and friend.

A dog is loyal, loves you no matter what, is waiting and rejoices when you come home, is a true friend.

Our relationship with God should be the same. He takes care of us, provides food and shelter, loves us, watches over us and is always our companion and friend.

We should take a lesson from our pets. We should love God with all our heart, be loyal, watch for the Lord to come back and rejoice in His presence.

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all my mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

True Friends

February 5, 2016

Yesterday we were reminded of some of our friends on Facebook.
SOS ministry is blessed to have many friends. Senior Servants meets once a month and 15 to 20 ladies come, work and fellowship. These ladies are true friends and we are thankful for each one.

The volunteers who work at events, on the property and our staff and missionaries are also our true friends.

Our families are  our closest friends, but there is One Friend who is the best friend of all and wants to be your friend also. He is the Lord Jesus Christ. This Friend is with us at all times. When we are awake, asleep, in joy and sorrow, in sickness and in health. He promised never to leave or forsake us. What a Friend we have in Jesus!

Hebrews 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Eleven Trust in Jesus

February 4, 2016

Eleven people trusted Jesus as their Savior at the Flea Market yesterday. A picture is worth 1000 words.

Luke 14:23  And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

What a Friend We Have In Jesus

February 3, 2016

 1. What a friend we have in Jesus,

all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry

everything to God in prayer.
2. Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful

who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy laden,

cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge;

take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In his arms he’ll take and shield thee;

thou wilt find a solace there.

The words of this hymn were written by Joseph Scriven, a man that had suffered much tragedy in his life. The day before his wedding his fiancé had drowned in a lake. Brokenhearted he decided to move from Ireland to Canada to start a new life. His mother stayed behind and Ireland and word came that she was gravely ill. He wrote her a poem that became the hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.

He fell in love once again, and before the wedding could take place his beloved Eliza contracted tuberculosis and died. He never married. In his later years he became ill and his friend found the words to his poem. He had never intended his poetry to be published but the words were to beautiful not to be heard by others. His death was also a tragedy, he was ill and delirious, walked outside, fell into a creek and drowned.Edit

God use the tragedies in Joseph’s life to bless generations with the wonderful words of his writings. It is obvious that his love for the Lord gave him peace even in tragedy.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Event Idea

February 2, 2016

An idea for an event is a Block Party. Invite neighbors and have food, fun and fellowship. It does not have to be long. Two or three hours.

A church in Lakeland, FL had a Block Party last weekend and about 30 people attended. Three people were saved. Two children and one adult.

That is a great percentage. Ten percent of the people there were saved.

SOS Events calls events like that “Churchyard Events”. The great advantage is that the new converts are already familiar with the church and do not feel uncomfortable to come to church as they have already been on the property and have met some of the church members. Praise the Lord for “Churchyard Events.”

Luke 14:23  And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Are You Ready?

February 1, 2016

Today in our world there is a great lack of true wisdom. We see politicians make decisions that effect all of us but they don’t want these decisions to pertain to themselves. Some police officers believe they are above the law but are quick to make the average citizen obey whatever they say. Teachers who take advantage of students, etc., we could go on and on, but the main problem is that we have allowed the lawmakers to take God out of our society.

We need wisdom in our homes, our cities, counties and nation.

Today’s post is one that was written two years ago and unfortunately nothing has changed. In fact things are getting worse.   The Bible does predict that things will get worse before Jesus returns. Are you ready for His return?
Acts 1:11  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
