The First Day of the Week

November 8, 2015

Sunday, the first day of the week, Jesus came to the disciples and said, “Peace be unto you.” May today, the first day of this week and all week long, bring you the peace that only Jesus can give.

John 20:19  Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Peace of God

October 6, 2015

“Don’t let the noise of the world drown out the peace of God’s Love.”

If you watch the news on TV, listen to the radio, or read the newspaper you know that the world is in chaos. The Bible tells us that we can have peace and joy no matter what the circumstance.

The secret of peace is to know God, read his word every day and trust him completely.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Stress

August 20, 2015

“Dear stress, Let’s break up!” Is a funny saying that was seen on a sign recently.

Are you stressed in this busy life we lead?

The Bible says to cast our care upon Jesus. He will give you inner peace that passes all understanding.

A time everyday, preferably in the morning, to read your Bible and pray is a good way to overcome stress in your life. When things seem to be beyond your control that scripture you read, or a verse you memorized will come to mind and peace will calm your worries and fears.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Silent Night, Christmas Carol

December 3, 2014

This is a photograph of the Silent Night Memorial Chapel in Oberndorf, Germany. The beautiful Christmas hymn lyrics were written in German by Joseph Mohr in 1816. The music composed by Franz Xaver Gruber for the guitar and was first preformed on Christmas Eve in 1818.
The hymn became so well known that during a Christmas truce in World War I the troops on both sides sang it together in French, German and English. It has been translated into 140 languages.

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace,
good will toward men.

Journey of Thankfulness

November 10, 2014

November is the time of year when we should be focusing on the things that we are thankful for. Everyday, in the blog the purpose this month is to call your attention to the ways you can be thankful.
As the day dawns each morning my thoughts immediately go to what am I thankful for today? What can I write that will cause others to Praise the Lord for all His blessings?
My heart has been filled with gratitude, joy and fullness of the presence of God.
God has a plan for each of our lives and one thing He says is to give thanks in all things. When we do, even if times are stressful or seemingly impossible He then gives that inner peace and joy the only a child of God can know.
It is still early in November and it is hard to wait until tomorrow to see what my Journey of thankfulness will bring to my heart. Come join me on the journey.

Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

It Is Well With My Soul

September 12, 2014

Horatio Spafford (1828-1888) was a wealthy Chicago lawyer with a thriving legal practice, a beautiful home, a wife, four daughters and a son. He was also a devout Christian.
At the very height of his financial and professional success, Horatio and his wife Anna suffered the tragic loss of their young son. Shortly thereafter on October 8, 1871, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed almost every real estate investment that Spafford had.
Spafford scheduled a boat trip to Europe in order to give his wife and daughters a much needed vacation and time to recover from the tragedy. He remained in Chicago to take care of some unexpected last minute business. Several days later he received notice that his family’s ship had encountered a collision. All four of his daughters drowned; only his wife had survived.
With a heavy heart, Spafford boarded a boat that would take him to his grieving Anna in England. It was on this trip that he penned those now famous words, When sorrow like sea billows roll; it is well, it is well with my soul..

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Peace on Earth

This picture reminds us that when Jesus, the Messiah, reigns on earth animals will be at peace with one another as well as man. There is coming a day when there will be peace.
Isaiah 11:6
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
and a little child shall lead them.
