Praise God

March 3, 2019

Many have heard from Chaplain McCabe’s own fire-touched lips, how this grand old doxology, that has doubtless been on more lips than any other uninspired production, was sung by the starving “boys in blue” [Union soldiers in the American civil war] that were incarcerated in Libby Prison [Richmond, Virginia]. Day after day they saw comrades passing away, and their numbers increased by fresh, living recruits for the grave. One night about ten o’clock, through the stillness and the darkness, they heard the tramp of coming feet, that soon stopped before the prison door until arrangements could be made inside. In the company was a young Baptist minister, whose heart almost fainted as he looked on those cold walls and thought of the suffering inside. Tired and weary, he sat down, put his face in his hands and wept. Just then a lone voice of deep, sweet pathos, sung out from an upper window—

“Praise God from whom all blessings flow;”

and a dozen manly voices joined in the second line—

“Praise Him all creatures here below”

and then by the time the third was reached, more than a score of hearts were full, and these joined to send the words on high—

“Praise Him above ye heavenly host;”

and by this time the prison was all alive, and seemed to quiver with the sacred song, as from every room and cell those brave men sang—

“Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”

Psalms 30:12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Favorite Bible Verse

February 20, 2019

I could not resist this beautiful baby’s photo, along with my favorite Bible verse. But the next verse along with this one completes what God is telling us.

Proverbs 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

A Special Valentine

February 14, 2019

Today is Valentines Day. Special because the one we love gets an opportunity to tell us how much he or she loves us. Weddings take place on this day, couples have plans for a romantic dinner, jewelry, cards, flowers and candy given as a token of love. A wonderful day for you, if you have that special someone in your life, but some of you do not have someone to give a gift or say “I love you.” You may be sad today.

This is a special Valentine for you.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Exciting Day

February 2, 2019

This photo was taken at SOS Events Annual Meeting last year. About 35 people attended. Today is the second Annual Meeting and over 75 people have registered. Over double from last year. God is blessing SOS Events with new people and new opportunities. Please pray for a great meeting and God’s continued blessings and that He will expand our coast as He did Jabez.

1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

God is Love

February 1, 2019

February is the month we think about Love. Some of us have a wonderful love story and others have only heartache and disappointment in love, but for all of us there is Someone who loves us more than we can ever imagine. God loves us so much He sent His Only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross so we can have eternal life. There is no greater love.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Way to Start the Day

January 15, 2019

A reminder to start everyday with prayer. Jesus listens and answers the simplest of prayers. He wants to hear from us everyday.

Psalms 54:2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

Quiet Time With God

January 5, 2019

Do you have a special time every day with God? It can be the most precious and productive few minutes of everyday. The first thing in the morning is best, but schedules may prevent that. You could get up a few minutes early, sometimes difficult, but definitely worth it. Whatever time of day you choose, read a passage of scripture, pray and allow God to speak to you.

You can ask yourself the following questions as you meditate on God’s Word:

Is there a sin I need to confess?

– Is there a promise I can claim?

– Is there an attitude I need to change?

– Is there a command I need to obey?

– Is there an example I can follow?

Enjoy your fellowship with God.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Happy New Year 2019

January 1, 2019

The Staff of SOS Events Ministry wishes you a very Happy New Year. May God bring you the desires of your heart for 2019.

Numbers 6:25-26 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

John the Miracle Baby

December 15, 2018

God’s miracle preformed in Zachariahs and Elizabeth’s baby, John. A child conceived in old age but chosen to go before The Lord to prepare his way. We see John in later scripture doing that as he preached and Jesus came to him to be baptized.

Can God preform miracles today? He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Luke 1:76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

Gifts Symbol of Christmas

December 12, 2018

The next 12 days for a lot of people will be the busiest time of year preparing for that perfect Christmas gift. Shopping in crowded stores, looking at catalogs, shopping on line.

The best gift you can give anyone is telling them about Jesus. For your unsaved friend, coworker or relative their best gift would be receiving Jesus as their Savior.

For your Christian loved ones a time of fellowship, a phone call or a message. Your time is more precious than any gift you could possibly buy.

Enjoy the Christmas season but don’t forget the best gift ever given…..Jesus.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that HE gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
