But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
The Heroes of the faith did extraordinary things in faith and obedience to God and His leading.
We sometimes forget that they were ordinary people who loved, trusted and had faith in God.
The verse for today tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God, but can you imagine what we can do through faith.
If you are lacking in faith, ask God to show you what He can do. He loves you and will help you in your uncertainty.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Abraham is one of the most famous biblical figures among the heroes of faith in the Bible because he demonstrated great acts of steadfast faith and unquestioning obedience to God. He was the first of the Hebrew patriarchs.
Abraham left his homeland of Ur and followed God’s call to a land of promise. He became the “father of many nations”.
He was even willing to sacrifice his own son, Isaac, as a test of faith in God. Abram was his given name, which God changed to Abraham after establishing His covenant promise with him
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Hebrews 11:8-10
Sometimes we get discouraged and look at our life negatively. In the Bible, David, had a lot of reasons to be discouraged. His Brothers treated him with no respect, Saul tried to kill him, and he had many enemies. But, he encouraged himself, went on to become king and was a man after God’s heart. Not a perfect man, but a good example for us.
So today, whatever your problem, encourage yourself to do right, look to God for the answer and you will have a happier, healthier life.
1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
Did you make a New Year Resolution? Maybe it was to loose weight, stay on a budget, or exercise every day. Whatever it is, usually we have good intentions. Then reality comes in and we fail.
There is one resolution that is more important than any other. That is to read the Bible and pray everyday.
This is one resolution that is vital to your spiritual health and happiness. Do not allow anything to stop you from communicating with your Savior, Jesus, on a daily basis. He loves you.
Without communication there is no relationship. Start today!
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Mathew 7:7
My prayer for you is that 2024 will be a year of blessing from the Lord.
Whatever the year May bring, that you will trust the Lord for His goodness. Joy or sorrow, every year has some of both. The one thing that is certain. God loves you and wants only the best for you.
My favorite verse in the Bible has gotten me through everything in life. Good times and bad.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5 & 6
Finally the Savior, JESUS is born. Not in a palace fit for a KING, but in a stable with animals.
John 1:14 – And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus was foretold by Micah 700 years before Christ’s birth. Micah named the exact town and Matthew records the event. Bethlehem is still standing today and both Biblically and historically is proven to be the actual place where Jesus was born.
The journey to Bethlehem took Mary and Joseph about 4 days. It was not an easy journey for a woman about to give birth. Tradition says she rode on a donkey but that is not in the Bible account. She may have had to walk that distance.
Today take a few minutes from your busy Christmas preparation and think about the obedience of Joseph and Mary. They were willing to sacrifice time, ridicule, and hardship to bring JESUS into the world.
Two humans that made a difference to everyone from that time for all eternity.
Luke 2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
