Full Schedule?

February 29, 2016

Monday morning and you look at your calendar for the week and wonder how you will get everything done. The days are full, the schedule is overwhelming  and your energy is lacking. First, stop and take a few minutes to pray and seek God’s wisdom and help and your day will be better. You will get through this week and when you look back you can Praise the Lord that He was with you through this busy time. Remember those minutes you spend with Him makes everyday go smoothly.

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Pastors Need Prayer

February 28, 2016

“Don’t put your Pastor on a pedestal where he can get knocked off, put him on your prayer list where he can be lifted up.”

Today as you go to church pray for your pastor. He needs the power of the Holy Spirit and encouragement. D. L. Moody became a powerful evangelist because as he preached he had a group of people praying for him and thousands of people were saved though his ministry.

2 Thessalonians 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

Tired of Answering Machines?

February 27, 2016

Have you made a phone call that is answered but a computer? This is an example of a church answering message: if you want to speak to the pastor press 1, for the assistant pastor press 2, youth director press 3, prayer requests press 4. And on it goes.

Then when you get to the person you want this is the next message: Sorry, I am not at my desk right now, leave your number and I will return your call as soon as possible.

This is scenario is repeated in businesses, doctors offices almost any large company that you are trying to contact. Usually the call is unsuccessful or there is a long wait until you reach someone to help you.

There is One Person that you have a direct line to, that is always on call and that is God. He is always ready to listen and will always hear your requests. He never slumbers nor sleeps and is with you 24/7. What a wonderful Savior!

Jeremiah 33:3  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

The Bible

February 25, 2016

“THE BIBLE IS THE ONLY THING YOU CAN TRUST IN THIS CHANGING WORLD!” This is a quote from a church sign but so true. The world around us may be changing faster than we ever expected but the Bible is always true, consistent and our handbook to get through the changes in the world situation and even the changes in our personal lives.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Everyday With Jesus

February 23, 2016

There is a short little song that can lift your spirits and help you realize how sweet it is to walk with Jesus everyday. He has saved us, is keeping us and is coming again to take us to be with Him forever.

Every day with Jesus

Is sweeter than the day before

Every day with Jesus

I love Him more and more.

Jesus saves and keeps me

And He’s the one I’m waiting for

Every day with Jesus

Is sweeter than the day before

Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Favorite Bible Verse

February 21, 2016

Do you have a favorite Bible verse? Every Christian should have a life verse or a scripture that in good times or trials that verse or section of scripture will come to mind to help and comfort or help you rejoice.

My favorite is Proverbs 3:5&6. These two verses have guided me through many things in life and always remind me to trust in the Lord and He will direct and bring me through.

What is your favorite? You can comment on the blog and give your verse there. We would love to know what scripture that you love.

Proverbs 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Word Study

February 17, 2016

Have you ever done a word study in the Bible? Maybe it is something you are thinking about or have an interest in. Love is a great one to start with. Go to a concordance or download a Bible on your computer and just type in a word in the search option.

Sleep is my word study today, probably because it is difficult to stay asleep because of a cough. Just a few verses to help you realize what a neat way to study God’s Word.

Genesis 2:21-22 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Proverbs 3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

1 Thessalonians 4:14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Worry

February 9, 2016

SOS Events is blessed to have many volunteers to help in the ministry. Our Senior Servant ladies are a good example of some of those people. Knowing that everyday we share something on the blog, some of the ladies bring little sayings to share with others. Thank you Nancy for the following  saying:

“Worry is like a rocking chair–it give you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere.”

The Bible says:  1 Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Do It Now

February 8, 2016

James 4:14  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
The Bible says that our life here on earth is short and implies that death is unpredictable. How true. That is why we must take advantage of every moment we have.
The most important thing is to be ready. Do you think you have time and are waiting to be saved? Don’t wait any longer. Today may be your last opportunity to ask Jesus to forgive you.

Have unresolved problems in a relationship? Tomorrow may be to late. Restore your broken friendship today.

Things to do you have been putting off until a more convenient time? Do it now.

Give your spouse, child or friend a hug today and tell them how much you love and appreciate them. You have today. Don’t waste it.

What a Friend We Have In Jesus

February 3, 2016

 1. What a friend we have in Jesus,

all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry

everything to God in prayer.
2. Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful

who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy laden,

cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge;

take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In his arms he’ll take and shield thee;

thou wilt find a solace there.

The words of this hymn were written by Joseph Scriven, a man that had suffered much tragedy in his life. The day before his wedding his fiancé had drowned in a lake. Brokenhearted he decided to move from Ireland to Canada to start a new life. His mother stayed behind and Ireland and word came that she was gravely ill. He wrote her a poem that became the hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.

He fell in love once again, and before the wedding could take place his beloved Eliza contracted tuberculosis and died. He never married. In his later years he became ill and his friend found the words to his poem. He had never intended his poetry to be published but the words were to beautiful not to be heard by others. His death was also a tragedy, he was ill and delirious, walked outside, fell into a creek and drowned.Edit

God use the tragedies in Joseph’s life to bless generations with the wonderful words of his writings. It is obvious that his love for the Lord gave him peace even in tragedy.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
