Monday Morning

July 25, 2016

Monday morning!! Some people look forward to the start of a new work week or maybe dread it.  Others may be facing trials. You may be starting a vacation week, looking forward to fun and excitement. However you look at this Monday morning remember that we are to view every day with thanks onto God for giving us this day to Praise and serve Him.

Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Handed a man who was walking a tract and bottled water and Carl went through the 3 Things God Can Not Do and the ABC’s of salvation with him and he accepted Christ! Will follow up with him with an encouraging note and a home visit. Praise the Lord!

Present with the Lord

May 15, 2016

Today my spouse, best friend, amazing Christian, Tom Curtis went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus.

He was ready and willing to go after a long illness. He was a faithful witness and soul winner. The last day he was in the hospital he led a doctor and 2 nurses to the Lord. Many tears were shed that day as hospital doctors, nurses and staff stopped by to say goodbye to a man they learned to love and respect after his month long hospital stay. He was able to come home to leave the earth from his favorite place the sun porch where he was able to watch the birds and squirrels.

He will truly be missed by me, his family, friends and partners in SOS Events ministry. Please pray for those of us who feel the loss but rejoice that there is no more pain and suffering and that the ministry will continue to grow and flourish.

Frustration to Fruitfulness

May 10, 2016

Frustration!! Tom waiting, waiting and waiting for discharge from the hospital. A special doctor had to be called and he was not there.

Previously Tom and Carolyn gave one of the nurses named Judy a copy of the booth they authored “101 Salvation Stories.” She was a special nurse who really cared for her patients. She stopped in to see Tom in the morning to tell him that she was halfway through the book already and intended to read the rest on her day off.

Time for a shift change in the evening and that doctor had still not come. Judy came into the room to say goodbye to Tom and Carolyn because she would not see them again after his discharge. She said, “I want to be one of your stories. Can you save me?”

We know it is Jesus who does the saving but Tom held her hand and prayed with her. She accepted Jesus and was so happy. What joy on the face of that young woman. “Now I am one of your stories,” she said.

She walked out of the room just as the doctor walked in. Miracles still happen and God’s timing is always right. We as Christian need to remember He has a plan and purpose and the Holy Spirit is never late.

Answered Prayer Plus

November 20, 2015

I needed a glass insert for my microwave as it had gotten broken. Guests are coming and it was needed right away. No time to order one from the manufacturing company. What to do? Pray and ask for wisdom to find one.

Lighthouse, a local thrift store, came to mind when I prayed. When I entered the store, the first thing I saw was Tom, one of SOS Events workers, with a 3 Things God Can Not Do display board witnessing to people. He was talking and I did not want to interrupt so I asked a store worker for help to find my insert. There was only one in the store and she pointed it out to me. These inserts are hard to find and sell out immediately she told me.

Now Tom was not busy so I stopped to talk to him. Noticing that his display board could use some repair, I went to the car for a replacement that we had in the trunk for another event but had not needed. When I returned with the new display, Tom was talking to a lady who was interested in SOS Events. We exchanged information and a new opportunity for SOS Events to go to a children’s home where the woman worked, to speak and teach young people about Jesus.

An appointed time. Had I not listened to that still small voice and gone to Lighthouse I would have missed a great opportunity for SOS Events.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Jesus is Coming

June 14, 2015

Adrian Rogers, who is now with the Lord. was a great preacher. He told things like it is and his sermons are still up to date as if he was preaching this morning. You can hear some of his sermons on U tube.

He was speaking on the rapture of the church and this was his quote, “Get right or get left.”

JESUS is coming to take those of us who are born again out of this world. It could be today. Are you ready? You do not want to be left behind. To get right and be born again is so simple. Go to SOS home page Scroll down to the “3 Things God Can Not Do” and then go down to the A,B,C’s of salvation. Just follow all the steps, pray and ask JESUS to forgive your sins, come into your heart and make you a new person in Christ.

Don’t wait. JESUS could come today.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

God’s Direction

April 13, 2015

This weekend only one lady volunteered to go to the Big Top Flea Market. She had never been there before and also was new at witnessing at an event.

SOS always wants 3 people to work in the booth Tom and Carolyn Curtis went to work with her even though they were not on the schedule. They got there and a lady was already witnessing. Assuming that was the scheduled worker they prepared to start talking to people as they walked by. Then another lady came into the booth. She said she was Olga. (The woman who was scheduled to work)

Then a phone call came and John and Patty were on their way to come and witness in the booth. Now there were too many workers as the booth is small and a crowd can be intimidating to people walking by.

Tom and Carolyn wondered why God wanted them at the Flea Market when they were not needed. There was a particular vendor Carolyn wanted to see so she went to that booth to make a purchase. The woman told Carolyn that this was her last week to be there. Her husband has cancer and she had other family problems in another state.

The vendor, Sue, had on a hat with a JESUS symbol so Carolyn asked if she was a Christian. Sue answered yes. Carolyn then asked if she could pray for Sue, her husband and family. Sue was so grateful for the prayers.

God knew that Sue needed encouragement and sent Tom and Carolyn to the Flea market. Scheduling error? No. God’s direction.

Caesar Augustus

December 21, 2014

All those even vaguely familiar with Luke’s Christmas story have heard of Caesar Augustus and his famous decree. It was this decree that sent Mary in the ninth month of her pregnancy 80 miles south to Bethlehem, along with husband Joseph.
Caesar Augustus reigned as emperor of the Roman empire from 27 B.C. to 14 A.D. 41 years in all. His decree had two purposes, for an accurate census and to determine taxation.
Caesar Augustus’s reign was marked by peace and security.
Augustus was very interested in the number of citizens in his empire; he was especially interested in whether that number was growing.
Augustus was so concerned about the declining marriage and birth rate in his empire, that he passed legislation that made promiscuity a crime, which penalized bachelors in their right to inherit, and which bestowed political advantages on fathers of three or more children. Because of his demonstrated concern about marriage and birth rate in his empire, it is likely that one of the reasons that Augustus authorized the censuses was to see whether his legislation was working, or, at the very least, to see if the birth rates increased.
Each Citizen had to return to the place of their birth fulfilling God’s prophecy that The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.

Luke 2:1
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

Pastor’s Phone Call

August 20, 2014

Tom had a cap come off his tooth and we had to make an unexpected dentist appointment. I was not too happy about going because it was the wrong time of day, quite a distance away and the traffic would be heavy. God had an appointment for us we did not know about.
On the rear window of our car is a sign that says, ” DO YOU KNOW THE 3 THINGS GOD CANNOT DO?” With our phone number.
On the way home from the dentist, our cell phone rang.
The man asked, “Can you tell me what are the “3 Things God Cannot Do?”
I answered him, 1. God can not lie. 2. God cannot change 3. God cannot let anyone into Heaven unless he is born again.”
Then I asked, “Are you 50, 75, or 100% sure if you died today you would go to Heaven?”
He was 100% sure. As the conversation continued he told me he is a pastor of a Spanish church, and was so excited about SOS Events ministry. He wants more information about SOS and we are excited because we need Spanish speaking people to help in events to spread the gospel.
Once again God showed me to be obedient to Him. He has plans for us that sometimes causes inconvenience, but if we trust Him, He brings a blessing.

Into all the World

July 23, 2014

I received some of your fine materials at the Annual GARBC Conference about three weeks ago. I immediately put them to use in Chuuk, Micronesia. One of the Micronesian Bible School students really loved the “Three Things God Cannot Do” flip-chart. So did I! I wore the “I Have TWO Birthdays” button, and I had several opportunities to witness because of it.

Well, our mission is sending another team of dentist/doctors/nurses to Benin, West Africa from August 2, 2014. I would like to order two (2) of the “Three Things God Cannot Do” flip-chart.

This is an email from a dentist that was at the conference where the SOS staff had a display for the ministry. Once again God has far reaching plans for SOS to expand. Praise The Lord.
