Thanks for the Tree

July 2, 2015

Yesterday the thermometer read 99 degrees in the sun in Florida. SOS Events missionaries Alice and Randy did not let the heat stop them from going to the Flea Market in Plant City however.

The first blessing was that Alice had a coupon for $10.00 off and the space only cost $2.00. Then she asked the parking attendant if she could have a spot for the canopy under a tree. He let her get out of the line to go under a beautiful shade tree. God blessed the workers with 21 people who asked JESUS to be their Saviour.

The thanks goes to God who gave the increase and thankfulness for the tree. God loves and blesses the faithful soul winners.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Little is Much

June 17, 2015

Seventeen people were trained to be soul winners with SOS Events Ministry in Alabama this week. Seventeen more CHRISTIANS who are willing to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The team in Alabama are doing a wonderful job recruiting new team members and it all started when one of the couples from Florida went to Alabama about 2 years ago to train a group of people the “3 Things God Can Not Do” . That small group of people got excited about the simplicity and non confrontational way to witness. From that training came the Alabama SOS team. Today that group has spread to several cities in that state and hundreds of people are receiving JESUS as their Savior every year.

One small group of people who got on fire for the Lord and the growth is amazing. Little is much when God is in it.

Job 8:7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

Wednesday Record

June 11, 2015

Many people are happy to see Wednesday come each week because it is the middle of the workweek for people who work. At SOS Events we love to see Wednesday come because it is an opportunity to win souls at the Plant City Flea Market.

This week was exceptional as 25 decisions were recorded. Randy Thomas is pictured here with Maria one of the Spanish people who received JESUS as their Savior.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Everyday is an Event

June 3, 2015

“Everyday you get up is an event.” This quote is from Tom Curtis.

SOS Events ministry is always looking for events to have the opportunity to set up a booth to witness. However, sometimes there may not be a organized gathering to go to. Should we as Christians just sit back and not witness? NO!!

Everyday, anywhere and everyone God puts in your path is an opportunity to witness. The grocery store, at an appointment, waiting in line to purchase something, a waitress when you go out to eat, a telephone conversation, saleman, or someone who comes to you door. All these are opportunities to witness.

Always carry Bible tracts in your pocket or purse. There is no excuse for a child of God not to tell others when God tells us in His Word to be witnesses. Also, depend upon the Holy Spirit to give you power and boldness. Then ask Him to lead you to a person who is ready to recieve JESUS.

All the examples that have been given of places to witness, there has actually been someone saved by a staff member or volunteer of SOS.

If you are fearful, inexperienced or need to know how to be a better witness contact SOS Events and someone on our staff will be happy to help you.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Traveling Blessings

April 24, 2015

Glenn and Dena Priddy, SOS Events newest missionary couple, have returned from a trip to Virginia. They had many wonderful blessings as they traveled.

Sign on the back window of their car was seen by hundreds of people as they drove the highways and one man called their cell phone to ask what the “3 Thing God Can Not Do” are. He was already a Christian and told them to keep up the good work.

23 CHRISTIANS came to the training that they conducted in Virginia. A new place for soul winning for SOS Events.

One of the couples at that training live in Pennsylvania and took information to their Pastor about SOS Events. That couple resides in Florida in the winter and wants to help at the Strawberry Festival next year.

Several of SOS Events missionaries travel and need prayer for safety and  blessings. Dena needs prayer as she is facing back surgery in the next few months, but pain has not stopped this dedicated couple from witnessing for the Lord. She postponed surgery until after this Virginia trip and the first week in May they will travel to Alabama to witness at the Talledega Races.

Every Christian should love the Lord and have a burden for the lost that Glenn and Dena have. They are faithful witnesses.

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Church Yard Evangelism

April 22, 2015

Church-yard evangelism is one of the most powerful growth vehicles for any church, if done right.  The problem is, most could be a great deal more effective than they are; think about any of these activities you have been involved in over the years at any church you have visited.  Here is a list of activities / events commonly sponsored, or supported by churches, either near, or on their church property:

  • Yard sales
  • BBQ
  • Car Shows
  • Events for Children (games, rides, etc…)
  • Fall Festival
  • Egg Hunt
  • Fish Fry

There are many more different kinds of activities that could be listed.  These events usually reflect the social fabric and interest of the sponsoring, or participating church.  Many times these are planned fund raisers.  However, the goals also typically evolve around introducing new people to the church through some form of interaction, with the hope of leading others into a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Additional benefits include helping introduce existing Christians, new to the area, to your church; help them find a new church home.  Other benefits include fellowship among participating church members , and exposure for the church in other indirect ways.  Most would agree, if others accept Christ (souls saved) as their personal savior “at the event”, then this would be like having your cake, and eating it too…   … a win-win-win.  Praise the Lord!  Any kind of church-yard evangelism can always be about seeing souls saved.  In fact, why plan one if that’s not included? People need the Lord!

SOS Events is about showing others how they can come to expect a harvest of souls at almost any event.  Tom Curtis often reminds others that it’s not him, his wife Carolyn and other SOS workers that save souls, but it’s faith in action based on their surrender to a relationship that allows Him to do His will.  Write to info@sosevents.org, if you would like more information, or help with your event.

Psalm 72:13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.

What is Your Ambition in Life?

April 21, 2015

“I would rather win souls than be the greatest king or emperor on earth; I would rather win souls than be the greatest general that ever commanded an army; I would rather win souls than be the greatest poet, or novelist, or literary man who ever walked the earth. My one ambition in life is to win as many as possible.”
~ R. A. Torrey

In today’s world even among Christians, winning souls is way down on their list or not even on their list at all. SOS Events ministry has a goal to win as many people to Christ as possible. Oh, that we might have the burden for soul winning as Torrey had.

If you have a desire to win the lost, SOS Events has a place for you. Soul winners are needed all over the world but especially in the USA. Opportunities are everywhere. Contact SOS Events to get started on your soul winning journey.

Matthew 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Why CHRISTIANS Do Not Win Souls

April 8, 2015

John 4:13 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

15 reasons why Christians do not win souls

  1. Christians have no sense of urgency to reach lost people.
  2. Many Christians and church members do not befriend and spend time with lost persons.
  3. Many Christians and church members are lazy and apathetic.
  4. We are more known for what we are against than what we are for.
  5. Our churches have an ineffective evangelistic strategy of “you come” rather than “we go.”
  6. Many church members think that evangelism is the role of the pastor and paid staff.
  7. Church membership today is more about getting my needs met rather than reaching the lost.
  8. Church members are in a retreat mode as culture becomes more worldly and unbiblical.
  9. Many church members don’t really believe that Christ is the only way of salvation.
  10. Our churches are no longer houses of prayer equipped to reach the lost.
  11. Churches have lost their focus on making disciples who will thus be equipped and motivated to reach the lost.
  12. Christians do not want to share the truth of the gospel for fear they will offend others. Political correctness is too commonplace even among Christians.
  13. Most churches have unregenerate members who have not received Christ themselves.
  14. Some churches have theological systems that do not encourage evangelism.
  15. Our churches have too many activities; they are too busy to do the things that really matter.
