New Year Is Coming

December 30, 2022
Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.

2022 is almost over. Just a few more days to reflect on this past year. Every year has both joy and sorrow. Maybe this year there was a new birth in your family, or you had a promotion on your job or moved into a new house. Think of the joy that you had this past year.
Then there may have been sorrow, a death in the family that has left a huge hole in your heart, or maybe you lost your job or your house is foreclosed.
Contrasts in life is a normal thing for man. The good news is that there is a new year coming that is like a blank canvas. God will bring some blessings and He may allow some sorrow, but it is always exciting to look forward to the new year and know that God will direct our path if we trust Him.
Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.

Christmas 2022 is Over!

December 29, 2022

Christmas is over, time to take down the beautiful decorations and keeping in our hearts the memories of Christmas 2022

It always makes me sad to put away those wonderful things that make Christmas special every year. As we put away the lights, tree, nativity sets, let us NOT put away the truth of Christmas, Jesus was born into this world to be our Savior, and it is our responsibility to tell others. So let us make a resolution to be better witnesses in 2023 and Serve Our Savior with more zeal than we ever had before.

Witnessing is a little more difficult because of the restrictions in some areas, but we can make phone calls, write notes and use social media to be a witness for the Lord. Be creative. Think of someone today who needs the Lord and pray for him or her, and then contact them. People need the Lord now more than ever.

Acts 26:22-23 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come. That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Anna in the Temple

December 27, 2022

Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple. She was the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, and was very old. She was a widow, for her husband had died when they had been married only seven years.

Probably, after her husbands death, Anna would have been encouraged to get married again and have children.

Anna, chose to stay single. She chose to serve the Lord. She chose to fast and pray, worshiping the Lord day and night. She told people the news of the Savior that was coming, no matter how long it might be before he came.

She knew her purpose and she didn’t let anyone’s opinions or comments keep her from it. Then Anna saw Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus in the temple and knew her purpose had been fulfilled.

Luke 2:36-38 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption.

Christmas Stockings-Symbol of Service

December 14, 2022

If you think about it, it’s a bit strange for someone to put goodies in an old sock. But like many Christmas traditions, the tradition of Christmas stockings comes from an old legend.

A long time ago (so the story goes), a poor man had three daughters and couldn’t afford to give them a dowry (money or goods given to the groom’s family by the bride’s family). In those days, it was very hard for a woman to get married without a dowry. A Christian bishop named Nicholas heard about the problem and wanted to help, but the man refused to accept money. One night, Nicholas threw three balls made of pure gold in through the open window of the man’s house. Each one landed in a stocking hung by the fire to dry. The next morning, each daughter found a gold ball in her stocking. With this bounty, they were all able to get married.

Stockings can remind us of the importance of service. The greatest example of service is Jesus Christ. He always “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38).

Take some time to think about the Savior’s selfless acts of service. How can you give Christlike service and show kindness to others this Christmas Season?

Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Goodbye November!

November 30, 2022

The last day of November. How did you do on your month of thanksgiving?

Did you find something to be thankful for everyday?

It is a good thing to thank the Lord everyday all year long.

Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalms 106:1

Thankful For A New Day!

November 29, 2022

Tom Curtis cofounder of SOS Events Ministry said, “Getting up every morning is an event.”

Do you thank the Lord for each new day?

Tom woke up many mornings not feeling physically well, however, he always used each day to Praise the Lord and tell everyone he met about his wonderful Savior, Jesus.

Today, rejoice that you have this new day to be used by God to do His will.

This isthe day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24

Thankful for the Christmas Season!

November 28, 2022
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

It is such a joy to go shopping and hear songs of the season. Maybe not the hymns we love about baby Jesus, but happy uplifting songs that bring joy.

Jingle Bells, Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas. These songs though not about the true meaning of Christmas gives a spring in our steps.

People seem happier at this time of year. More smiles and more tolerance of long lines in the grocery store or at the mall.

That is why I love the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We must be careful not to get so caught up in the worldly activities that we forget the true meaning of the season. Jesus is the reason for the Season.

Thankful for The Holy Spirit!

November 26, 2022

When Jesus left the world, He told his disciples that He would send them another Comforter. The Holy Spirit then came and dwelled within them.

The good news is that when we trust Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes in and dwells in us.

He is our Comforter, Teacher, Guide and Director. I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit.

Be Thankful For Your Siblings

November 18, 2022
Sisters

Many of us are blessed to have brothers or sisters. It is a special bond that can only be understood by those who have a brother or sister.

Maybe you do not have a sibling but have always desired to have that relationship.

You can fill your life with friends that are sometimes closer than physical siblings.

As Christians we are born into God’s family and that makes us brothers and sisters in Christ. That is also a special bond that we share with one another.

Today, pray and thank the Lord for your siblings and for your spiritual brothers and sisters.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

The Jonathan Watson Family

You may have a very large family or you think you have no family at all.

If God has blessed you with a good family, thank Him today.

Maybe your loved ones have passed on or your family is dysfunctional. I have good news for you!

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are born again. We become part of His family. We have all the rights and privileges as His child. That is something to be truly thankful for.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
