Power of Prayer

January 10, 2016

“We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little. Many services, but few conversions; much machinery, but few results.” – R.A. Torrey

Unfortunately many churches today are like the quote by R. A. Torrey, they have many services, few conversions and few results. This is a good way to evaluate a church.
Prayer meeting is the key. Is it just another service or activity or do people actually pray. Unfortunately in many churches, prayer meeting has become a midweek service. Much activity but no prayer. You can have a part in changing that and bring power back into your church. How?

Start with prayer yourself, everyday pray for your Pastor, church leaders, Sunday School teachers. Teach your children and grandchildren to pray. Get a small group or even one friend and while others go to activities you spend that time in sincere prayer. Our churches need power not programs. Action not activity. More service not services.

If you have been guilty of prayerlessness, confess that to God, ask forgiveness and start today to make prayer the most important part of your day. Let us be part of the solution to bring power into our local church.

2 Thessalonians 1:11  Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

Sunday Morning Christian?

December 13, 2015

Are you a Sunday Morning Christian? Or worse yet a twice a year Christian, (Christmas and Easter) you only go to church on those times or maybe to a wedding or funeral.

Today may be the day you will go. God doesn’t want your outward show. He wants all of you, everyday 24 hours a day.

If you are truly born again then worship Him with your life and action 24/7. If you are not saved, go to church today and if the Pastor gives the gospel and an opportunity to invite Jesus into your heart and forgive your sins then do that today. Maybe you are not planning go to church today, you can be saved as you read this. Admit to God you are a sinner, Believe that Jesus died on the cross as payment for your sins, and Call on Him to save you.

Pray this simple prayer but mean it with your heart: Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner. I believe you died on the cross for forgiveness of my sins. I ask that you forgive my sins, come into my heart and make my life new. I receive you as my Savior. Thank you Jesus. Amen

This can be the happiest Christmas you have ever had. Give Jesus the best gift you have, YOURSELF.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Church, Full or Empty?

December 6, 2015

The church is decorated for Christmas, wreaths, garlands, lights, beautiful flowers. The choir is prepared, the Pastor has his message ready and the congregation comes to worship.

There are two times a year when the churches are full, Christmas and Easter. Both times are to celebrate the coming of Jesus. Christmas to celebrate His birth and Easter to celebrate his coming out of the grave and victory over death.

Are you a two times a year church goer? If that is the only time you worship Jesus, you may miss His third coming when He will meet born again Christians in the air.

Then the churches that preach the gospel should be empty. Think about going to church and it is almost empty. No Pastor, no choir, only a few people who missed the true message of Jesus birth. God sent His Son as a gift that we might be saved. Do not be left to go to an empty church. Accept God’s gift of salvation today, then go to church and celebrate Jesus’ birth and you can truly worship from your heart.

Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Church

How many Churches are closing & pastors leaving? How many missionaries cannot raise support? How many have been sick with no one to come visit? Remember the days when the kids sat in church with family? Remember the days a ticket was not necessary to see the Christmas program? How would you like to have that kind of church to attend? Please tell us what you remember about Church when you were young. What kind of church do you attend now?

The third chapter of Ephesians is a great illustration of what the church should be.  Ephesians 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Be thankful that in the USA we have the freedom to attend the church of our choice. If you are able attend church with your family today!
Pray for your Pastor that he will stay true to God’s Word and that souls will be saved and broken hearts will be mended.

Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Let the Lord send you people – He will do it!

One of the  most cost effective ways to make the church available is to post your contact information on a church sign on the property.  The information should include:

  • Church Name
  • Church Phone Number
  •  Website
  • Pastors Name
  • Service Hours
  • Office Hours
  • Signage that identifies the office entrance (Very important)

In just one small example: I can remember moving to the Tampa area in 1998.  Being new to the area, we passed by a church sign which announced Sunday services and the time of those services.  The Lord used that for His church. We went to that church  because of that sign, and the Lord has used us to His glory in that church many ways since.

Let’s face it, most churches could look like permanently closed churches during most of the week without signage.
