That is a good question. Is your treasure in a bank? Stocks and bonds? Real estate? Gold or silver?
God does not say it is a sin to have these things but the question is do you live for them? Is your goal in life, I want more money, property or things?
God says, Love the Lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. Maybe you love yourself more than others.
Are you willing to share what you have to bless others. Someone less fortunate than you?
The greatest treasure you have is knowing Jesus as your Savior. Do you share Him with others by telling them about Jesus?
Today, the challenge is to ask yourself, “Where is my treasure?”
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
In today’s world there are so many ways that people can go to learn about God.
Church, Radio, Television, Friends, Internet and many more. But, in all of these ways you could be getting false information about God.
How can we learn the truth? There is only one way. We must study the Bible ourselves. Only then can we discover whether we are getting the truth about who God is and have a relationship with Him.
There is nothing wrong in any of the ways you choose to learn more about God. Just be sure that what you are learning is true according to scripture.
Matthew 5 is about being distinct in character. How a Christian is to be clearly different from this world, noticeably different in a good way. This particular teaching was coming from the mouth of Jesus Himself.
He not only said how we are to be distinct, but when we are, we are blessed with a true happiness & peace that only God gives.
Plus He tells what we would obtain for being distinct. We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Christ urges us to be a good example.
I challenge you to read Matthew chapter 5 and be determined to be distinct in this world and watch for your blessings.
Matthew 5:13-16 (KJV) Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Put God first in everything you do. Jesus should be the love of your life.
Love Him with your heart. He should be the One you are longing to see. Spending time each day with Him. Reading His Word. Communicating with Him in prayer.
Jesus should be the One you think about. Sometimes we only think about Him when we have a need. We need to be thinking about Him and talking with Him in the glad times too.
Our soul is our inner self. The spiritual part that is separate from our physical body. Jesus is the only One that can fill that empty void that we have before we know Him as our Savior.
Don asked Tom Curtis (cofounder of SOS Events) this question. “Does God ever speak to you?
Tom’s answer, “Yes, God speaks sometimes through reading His Word, sometimes when listening to the preaching, sometimes in a still small voice in your heart.”
The end of that story. God spoke to Don and he gave Tom and Carolyn his property, where Carolyn lives today and SOS Events office and workshop are there also.
Many of us travel especially in the summer. Vacations, Family Reunions, Weddings maybe even Work.
Someone who goes wherever you go is God. If you know Jesus as your Savior, He is with you wherever you go. That is a great blessing.
It is also a challenge. If you are tempted do do something you know is wrong because no one is there. Remember, God is with you and He sees everything that you do.
So enjoy your travels. Be thankful for the assurance that you are in the safety of God’s presence.
1 Corinthians 3:12-15 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest:for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss:but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
“We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services but few conversions; much machinery but few results.” ~R.A. Torrey
Most Christians fall into this category today, unfortunately. In our churches we see very few conversions, in ministry there are few people that are willing to spend even three or four hours a week or even a month to go to the marketplace to witness to the lost. Someday we will be judged for what we have done for The Lord.
Will we hear “Well done” or will our works be counted as wood hay and stubble and be cast into the fire? When we stand before Him, will our excuse be, “I was too busy”? The is always room for dedicated Christians to Serve Our Savior with SOS Events. All it takes is a email info@sosevents.org.
“Never let your yesterday keep you from your tomorrow.”
Sometimes we let our past keep us from doing what God wants us to do today or tomorrow.
We don’t think we can teach others because we know others who know the Bible better than we do.
We don’t think we can tell others about Jesus because we tried and the person rejected what we had to say.
We don’t think we can go to church because we may get sick.
Excuses we have for not doing what God calls us to do. We are allowing our past sin or failure to keep us from doing what God wants us to do. We are robbing ourselves of a blessing.
Whatever God wants us to do, He will give us the strength, wisdom, finances or whatever we need to complete the task.
Satan will try to keep you where you are. Do not let him have control. You can do it!
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:against such there is no law.
