Thinking of something to encourage those who read this blog, I chose a book on hymns, “Then Sings My Soul” by Robert J. Morgan. He wrote a forward “The Cure For Shot Nerves”. Thinking that is a catchy title, I read what he wrote about how the old hymns can calm the spirit and help bring peace to the soul.
It is rare in some churches to even hear the old hymns anymore and that is sad. “In the Garden” He walks with me/ and He talks with me/ and tells me I am His own. “Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and many more that encourage the heart.
Today, if you are stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or just plan discouraged, think of your favorite hymn and sing it, hum it or just let it flood your mind with how good God is, and soon you will find the comfort you need.
Unfortunately, events like Genesee County Fair ( in this photo from a year ago) has been cancelled for this year. Pray for events to open so SOS Events volunteers can get out and witness to people who need the Lord.
Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Ed and Rhonda booked the first 2020 event for SOS Events in Ohio. It is so great to have events opening again after the long wait because of coronavirus.
This event is a Car Show that will take place on June 27th. Please be in prayer for the Ohio team as they witness at the Car Show and that other events will open for them this summer.
Every SOS Events team needs prayer as we diligently look for events in all areas. Some Flea Markets, Churchyard events and Yard Sales are taking place. People cannot be saved if there are no places to witness.
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”
This image shows people helping one another and working together to improve their surroundings. As Christians we need to pray for unity of people in our neighborhood, state and the world.
On Saturday, there was a beautiful wedding at the Curtis home. Carolyn Curtis’ granddaughter Alex married the love of her life, Chris.
The wedding was planned earlier in the year but because of the coronavirus it had to be postponed. The venue was not available. Plans had to be changed. Waiting was difficult for the bride and groom, but the wedding was lovely.
The guest list had to be limited. Some people who would have liked to be there were not included.
We are reminded that someday, maybe soon, Jesus is coming for His bride.
Most people want to be in Heaven at the Marriage Feast but the guest list is limited to those who have trusted Jesus as their Savior.
That is one wedding you don’t want to miss. Invite Jesus into your heart and life today. Make Him the love of your life.
Revelation 17:7 & 9 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
In Joshua 1:8 the Bible talks about success. My desire in life was to be very successful.
I thought I had reached my goal, I had a good family, a great business, and all the material things I had ever dreamed of.
I had planned to take 20 of my business associates to Put in Bay for the day on my motor yacht. When we got as far as the harbor light I got a radio call from the Coast Guard. They gave me instructions to go to a land line phone and call my home.
When I called home and was told something terrible happened.
My son Nick, 12 years old had been playing at home when gas spilled on him, and someone threw a match at him. He was burned over 80% of his body and the doctors told me his chance of survival was zero.
Champion Spark plug company offered to fly him to the Boston Shrine Hospital. After 3 months, I was told when I came in to go right up as he would not be with us much longer.
I held his hand and he asked me this question, “Dad, do you know Jesus Christ personally?” My answer was, “Nick, no one could possibly know Jesus personally, because he is dead.”
Nick said, “Dad, I know him.” and died.
I was broken and 9 years went by, until a new Christian came into my office and invited me to church on Wednesday night.
The Pastor preached a sermon that I thought was all about me. When he gave the invitation, I begged God to save me.
My life was changed immediately and promised God I would serve Him the rest of my life and tell everyone I could about a relationship with Jesus.
After I was saved I took every opportunity to learn more about God and lead others into a right relationship with Jesus.
I moved around the country and ended up in Atlanta, where I suffered 5 heart attacks and was told I had 3 years to live. I was in the hospital for 3 months, lost my business, my wife and all material possessions. I spent the next 3 years studying God’s word to prepare for ministry.
God raised me up and empowered me. I met Carolyn, we were married in 2001 and God led us to start SOS Events ministry. Our goal is to teach and train Christians to be soul winners and to see as many souls saved in America as possible through our ministry.
God has provided the abundant life for us as promised in His Word. We have seen hundreds of people who have become soul winners and thousands of people saved.

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
It is Mother’s Day in the USA Today. Usually churches are crowed, the restaurants would be full, and people would be in parks or having big family celebrations. But because most of these things are still closed this year things are very different.
It’s not about a particular day, however. Mothers everywhere should be honored by their children everyday.
Mom’s have the most important job in the world. Rearing your children in this sinful world is not easy. May God bless you today and may your children give you the honor you deserve.
Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
We are unable to assemble ourselves together at this time in most areas of the world, however, we can show love to one another by a phone call, note or email. Today, do something to uplift a family member, friend or neighbor. When we encourage others we are doing what God commands and He blesses us with peace and comfort.
Many of us have to stay in during the month of April. This is a time that we can use to make us blossom! We can draw closer to God by reading the Bible more. We can encourage others with a phone call or note. We can have time to work on a hobby. Some people are using this time for doing projects around the house.
Take this time to look up to better things to come.
