God or Greed?

September 29, 2015

Quote by Adrian Rogers

“One nation under God, or one nation under greed?”

One of the problems of our nation is that we have replaced our worship of God into a nation that goes after riches. Sadly even many Christians have fallen into the trap.

Bigger houses, better cars, more money, fancy churches and the true worship of God is put aside because we don’t have time, we are too busy making money and trying to get ahead than to take time to read the Bible and pray everyday. If we want our nation to get back to God it has to start with each of us giving the Lord Jesus the time and worship He desires and deserves.

Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

9/11

September 11, 2015

9/11 A day that Americans remember. Do you remember where you were when you first heard or saw the twin towers collapse? Then watched in horror as the day went from bad to worse.

For awhile people in the USA turned to God. The churches were full. People prayed for safety and peace. Then time went on and little by little life became “normal” for most and once again complacency took over the lives Americans.

Today, fourteen years later, things have become worse in the USA, riots, murders, lawlessness in our major cities and threats from foreign countries happen daily.

Politics is not the answer, racial equality is not the answer, stopping illegal immigration is not the answer, stable stock market is not the answer. There is only one solution given by God Himself in the Bible.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Church

August 27, 2015

How many Churches are closing & pastors leaving? How many missionaries cannot raise support? How many have been sick with no one to come visit? Remember the days when the kids sat in church with family? Remember the days a ticket was not necessary to see the Christmas program? How would you like to have that kind of church to attend? Please tell us what you remember about Church when you were young. What kind of church do you attend now?

The third chapter of Ephesians is a great illustration of what the church should be.  Ephesians 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

God’s Names

August 23, 2015

As we honor God today, let us think about some of his wonderful names. Counselor, Prince of peace, Savior, Lily-of-the-valley, Lord, Jehovah and many more. The Bible says that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. Some people use God’s name as a curse word and that should break a Christian’s heart to hear that. Let us be careful how we use His name.
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Reputation and Character

August 5, 2015

Your reputation is what people say about you. Your character is what God and wife know about you.

Proverbs 22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Do You Have an Idol?

August 4, 2015

An idol is anything you put before God. Whatever you love more, serve more, fear more or trust more is an idol. Search your heart and put God first if there is anything in your life more important than Him.

Exodus 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Rainy Weather

July 23, 2015

Typical day at the Flea Market in Plant City, FL. Every Wednesday the team from SOS Events is at the flea market. God always blesses us with many souls. Yesterday, after just a few hours the rain came down in buckets but before that there were 13 people who had accepted Christ.

God sends two kinds of showers, the rain from heaven and showers of blessings that many people are saved.

This picture shows some of the people who stopped  by the booth before the rains came down.

 Ezekiel 34:26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.

Thank you in advance and may the Lord richly bless you.

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

At Calvary

July 18, 2015

There are so many new worship songs sung in churches today, that some of the great old hymns are being overlooked.

At Calvary is one of the great old hymns.

“Calvary” means, the place of the skull. It is a place that is visited by thousands of Christian pilgrims each year, and it is the place where our Lord and Savior’s life was given to pay the penalty for our sin. The author, William Newell, was contemplating what this meant on the way to teach one of his many Bible classes.

As soon as he reached an empty classroom, he wrote them down on the back of an envelope. The words used today are these same words written in those moments. Then he met Daniel Towner, the Director of Music, and asked if he could try to put a tune to the words. After teaching his class, the two met up and the tune had already been written, so they sang it together. It was then first published in 1895.
Years I spent in vanity and pride,

caring not my Lord was crucified,

knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary.

By God’s Word at last my sin I learned

—then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,

till my guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary.

Now I’ve giv’n to Jesus ev’rything;

now I gladly own Him as my King;

now my raptured soul can only sing of Calvary.

O the love that drew salvation’s plan!

O the grace that bro’t it down to man!

O the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary!

Chorus:

Mercy there was great, and grace was free;

pardon there was multiplied to me.

There my burdened soul found liberty—at Calvary.
