2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Thinking of something to encourage those who read this blog, I chose a book on hymns, “Then Sings My Soul” by Robert J. Morgan. He wrote a forward “The Cure For Shot Nerves”. Thinking that is a catchy title, I read what he wrote about how the old hymns can calm the spirit and help bring peace to the soul.
It is rare in some churches to even hear the old hymns anymore and that is sad. “In the Garden” He walks with me/ and He talks with me/ and tells me I am His own. “Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and many more that encourage the heart.
Today, if you are stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or just plan discouraged, think of your favorite hymn and sing it, hum it or just let it flood your mind with how good God is, and soon you will find the comfort you need.
When everyday things seem to get worse, especially if we listen to the news on TV, radio or other media, God give us blessed promises.
Jesus promised us peace in our hearts. The world around us may seem like gloom and doom, butwe can have complete peace and freedom from fear. Cast all your cares upon Jesus. He cares for you.
Many Americans do not know that today, June 14, is Flag Day. This day is set aside to commemorate the original flag of the USA. The original had 13 stripes and 13 stars.
The Revolutionary War was fought by the patriots in 13 colonies. Each colony had its own flag. George Washington and the founding fathers decided that there should be one flag to show unity of the new Country.
Today, more than ever we need to once again come together in unity and peace.
God has richly blessed the USA with years of peace and prosperity. We citizens and especially Christians should unite together in love. We need to pray for our country, not only on Flag Day but everyday that God will restore peace, love and respect for one another.
Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
As a Christian it is hard to watch the news, especially the liberal media.
The Bible tells us to love one another. Do you want to others as you would have them do unto you. What we are seeing in the news in our towns and cities is the complete opposite of what our country should be.
We need intervention from God. The only way that he’s going to heal our land is if we Christians humble ourselves and seek Him.
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? Mark 4:35-41
The Coronavirus feels like a great storm to many. Jesus is saying to us, “Peace be still.” Turn to Him to calm your fearful heart.
God has directed that every day an encouraging Bible verse should be posted on SOS Events website. People all over the world need encouragement from God’s Word at this time of fear and uncertainty.
All of SOS Events events have been cancelled or postponed so this is how people are being drawn to Jesus, though the blog. Pray more people will read it, and realize that Jesus is the answer.
In this trying time, God’s Word will bring comfort, freedom from fear and encouragement. Let us all pray for an ending to this pandemic, not only for the USA but for all the countries in the world that are going through these rough times as we are.
