A Parking Place

August 28, 2016

This is the final true story of children’s answers to prayer, however, there are many more that could be shared as God delights in the simple faith of children.

When Tom’s daughter, Allison, was small she was excited to go to the fireworks on 4th of July. Not wanting to disappoint her Tom drove to the busy park where the fireworks were to be displayed. There was not a parking place to be had in that crowded area that evening. He circled round several times without success.

Alison told her Dad that Jesus would find them a parking place. Tom looked in the rear view mirror and watched as Allison prayed this prayer, “Dear Jesus, my Daddy needs a parking place. Would you please give him one.”

Just then a man knocked on the window and asked Tom if he had any children in the car. Tom answered, “Yes, my daughter.”

The man said, “Every year we save a parking place for someone with a child, pull under our carport.” God hears and answers prayer.

Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The Balloon, Necklace and A Parking Place

August 26, 2016

What do these 3 things have in common? They are all answers to a child’s prayer. For the next three days you will be able to find out how God answers prayer of a little child.

When Diana’s son, Anthony, was very young he went shopping with his Mom. It is typical for a child to want something at a store and he saw this beautiful balloon. He wanted it but money was short then and Diana told him they didn’t have money for the balloon.

“Why don’t you ask Jesus for the balloon?” his mother told him. So Anthony prayed and did ask Jesus for the balloon.

When the mail came there was a letter from Diana’s Mom with one dollar in it. Just enough for Anthony’s balloon. They went and brought the balloon. A little boy’s prayer was answered even before he asked because the letter was mailed days before.

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

The Christian Olympics

August 19, 2016

Many people are watching the summer Olympics and cheer on their favorite person or team. The Bible has a lot to say about the Christian life being like a sports activity, however, does not endorse the Olymics as  they honored false gods. Wrestling, boxing, racing, archery just to name a few sporting events mentioned in the Bible. Are you in the Christian race?
2 Timothy 2:5, Philippians-3-14, 1-Corinthians-9-24 &25

Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Donkey or Elephant?

July 20, 2016

We do not usually post something on the blog that has been posted on Facebook or other media but this was too good not to post it again. Thanks, SOS Events board member, Dale Brown for the original post. (For those who may not know, the donkey and the elephant are symbols of the 2 main political parties in the USA)

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Sin

June 28, 2016

“One reason sin flourishes is that it is treated like a cream puff instead of a rattlesnake.”Billy Sunday

Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Reunion

June 27, 2016

This past weekend was spent at a reunion with friends and family. What a blessing to share the good times we had together many years ago. It is hard to say good bye to some of these people we are thinking we will not see them again this side of Heaven. But, what a reunion that will be when we all get to Heaven and have eternity to spend with first of all our Savior Jesus and then with our loved ones who have gone on before.

A few people did not come to the school reunion and we missed them. Think of how sad it will be to be in Heaven if friends or family are missing.

Conclusion: Christian, witness to that friend or relative who is not saved. You would be surprised at how many are waiting for you to invite them to be saved.

Unsaved friend, you do not want to miss the great Reunion in Heaven when you die. Make sure of your salvation today.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Are You Welcomed?

This was so good it needed to be posted on the blog.

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

The Right Choice

June 22, 2016

Yesterday, I had the privilege of flying to a destination on a jet plane. What normally would take 14 hours to drive took only a little over an hour on a reliable plane. There was a momentary fear when I overheard the pilot say, “Oh no.” After a temporary power failure. Everything was back to normal in a few seconds and the trip was uneventful. I reached my destination safely.

This made me think of the examples on the website of the 3 planes. If you don’t know these examples go to the home page a scroll down until you see the pictures of 3 planes.

Everyone wants to go to Heaven but many people are trusting in the wrong “plane” to get them there. Trusting in Jesus death, burial and resurrection for payment for your sins is the only way we can reach our destination, Heaven. Have you made the right choice?

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God’s Promises

June 21, 2016

There are literally hundreds of promises in the Bible. God’s Word is true. He can not lie. We can read the promises ourselves and know that God will do as He promised. Need an answer for a problem? Find a promise in the Bible, pray about it and God will keep His promise to you.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Priority

June 20, 2016

God’s Word and your prayer should be the priority in your life. Get up 15 minutes early everyday to spend time alone with God and your day will go much smoother. If you are not in the habit of having devotions early in the morning, try it and see how you will be blessed.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
