Today in the USA is a Holiday that celebrates the people who work. The everyday people, farmers, electricians, truck drivers, factory workers, secretaries, waiters and all occupations. Our Country runs on the everyday laborers.
There is another group of people who deserve recognition today. That is the laborers who work to get out the Gospel to people who do not know the Lord.
Pastors, teachers, soul winners and anyone who is a witness for Jesus.
A special thank you to all the laborers who work with SOS Events. The Board of Directors, Office Staff, Trainers, Team Leaders, Volunteers and Senior Servant ladies. May God give each of you a wonderful day today and many blessings in the future.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.1 Corinthians 15:58
If you are old enough to remember the way we traveled on a road trip before GPS.
Maps. We would look at maps. Plan our travel for the day. No way of knowing if there was road construction or detours. We did not know the speed limits or estimated time of arrival. It wasn’t easy.
Today we have GPS. It guides us through traffic, tells us the fastest way to go, speed traps and when we will arrive.
Life is like the old fashioned way. We do have a map. It is the Bible. It tells us the way to our destination, Heaven. But there may be a few detours along the way. Sin, sickness, trials.
Our GPS is the One who can get us there. JESUS. Our guide and the only way to Heaven.
There is an old hymn, written by Fannie Crosby, Draw Me Nearer.
1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain: Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the pow’r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, And my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]
3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! [Refrain]
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know Till I cross the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest in peace with Thee. [Refrain]
We all need to get closer to God. Today, use this hymn as a prayer to our God and Savior, Jesus. Think about His sacrifice on the cross. His death, burial and resurrection. He did that for you and me.
A picture is worth 1000 words is an old saying. These pictures are so special.
