My Sheep Hear My Voice

February 9, 2017

“My sheep hear my voice” is what the scripture says, not “my sheep can hear My voice” or “My sheep should hear My voice” but that they do hear His voice. Note also that God directs His voice to His sheep. He doesn’t say “My intelligent follower”, or “the popular or kind”. No, He says, “My sheep”. The sheep knows the sound, the inflection, of its shepherd’s voice. So we are to know the voice of God in our life as a Christian. How does God speak to us, His sheep? Clearly He speaks through His Word. Read it, study it, and listen to it.

John 10:3b (KJV) “…the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them… “

John 10:14 (KJV) “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”

Why Worry?

February 1, 2017

To worry means to have an excessive concern over something. It is a sin because it displaces God in your life. It also distracts you from what really matters. Worry dominates your time from where it needs to be.

Here is a simple test to know if you are worrying about something…  1) Is it the first thing on your mind when you wake up and the last thing on your mind when your go to bed?      2) In your spare time, your time to relax, do you start thinking about it?

Take your cares, burdens, anxieties to God. He said for us to cast them on Him…. ALL of them! So why worry? Give it to God. He truly cares.

I Peter 5:7 (KJV)   Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Plans

January 30, 2017

Planning is something most people do to make sure they stay on task. God has plans for each of us too. In the Scriptures, Jeremiah speaks of thoughts the Lord has for us, plans of peace and prosperity. But did you realize that Satan has plans for you as well? Satan is after your name and reputation. When you wake up every morning, he has already plotted how to come against you that day. You have a choice. Whose plan are you going to follow? Call on the Lord for help and guidance in every day.

Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)      Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Tidings of Joy

December 17, 2016

Christmas is one week from today. You may be busy with parties, shopping, Christmas programs and all the preparation for your special family traditions. But do not forget the true meaning of Christmas in your busy life.

It is a good thing to read the Christmas story in Luke 2. God gave us the greatest gift of all, salvation through His Son Jesus. Thank you, Father, for sending your Son, Jesus, to be born to die on the cross for our sins.

Our prayer at SOS Events is that everyone we know and people who read the blog will have a wonderful time with family and friends.
To those who of us who have lost loved ones this year it can be a difficult time but God also sent the Holy Spirit to comfort our hearts and bring joy in the times of grief.

Some of you may have no family, but remember you have a friend that sticks closer than a brother and we can have joy in our heart no matter what the circumstance.
God meets every need and we need to Praise Him.

Luke 1:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Thankful for Jesus

November 20, 2016

Another day to give thanks to God for the blessings He gives us. The biggest blessing is that He loves us so much He sent Jesus to be our Savior. Not only did Jesus die on the cross so we can be saved but He is our friend, guide, companion and He said He will never leave us or forsake us. With grateful heart I am thankful for Jesus.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Mercy and Grace

October 17, 2016

So thankful for God’s mercy and grace. One of the Curtis grandsons fell asleep while driving. His truck rolled over and barely missed a telephone pole. The truck was totaled but he was not hurt except for a few minor cuts and bruises. We realize that life is short and we never know what the day will bring. The important thing no matter what our age is to be ready if the Lord calls us home.

Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

God is Great

May 1, 2016

One of the great hymns that honors God as the great Creator and His great power is “How Great Thou Art”

Psalms 86:10 For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.

Verse #1

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,

Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Chorus:

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
Verse #2

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.

When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur

And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Chorus:

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
Verse #3

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;

That on a Cross, my burdens gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin.
Chorus:

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
Verse #4

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.

Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,

And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!”
Chorus:

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Repentance

April 16, 2016

“Prayer is the most powerful resource we have in this life; yet many only turn to it as a last resort. When unbelievers pray for repentance of sin and ask for God’s forgiveness, prayer is the spiritual dynamite that obliterates the darkness and despair of a sin-soaked soul.”  Franklin Graham

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Love of God

March 2, 2016

The following is a message on a church sign:

The love we have is God’s gift to us – what we do with it is our gift to God.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
