What Would You Do?

April 7, 2016

What would you do differently if you knew Jesus was coming today?

Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Good Guest Speaker

April 6, 2016

Our friend and fellow SOS Events worker, Randy Thomas had opportunity to speak at a Seniors luncheon at a local church yesterday to promote SOS ministry and get new volunteers and soul winners.

He appreciates the opportunity to speak and preach. If your church or group would like a good speaker for one of your events, Randy is available. He has had many years of teaching and preaching as he has been a Pastor for many years and is now a missionary with SOS. Email or call the home office for more information. info@sosevents.org   813-494-7512.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Judge Not

April 5, 2016

“Before you judge someone else, stop and think about all that God has forgiven you for.”

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

True Friend

April 4, 2016

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

God has blessed SOS Events Ministry with many good friends. An example of unselfish friendship is David, who has been working on the SOS property for 10 or more years. He builds all the displays that are used in the ministry, repairs buildings and does maintenance on the office, workshop, printshop and grounds.

More than that, he has become a faithful friend in good times and times of hardship. Saturday morning there was no water. The Curtis home shares the property with the buildings of SOS Events Ministry and there was no one in the office  or on property on the weekend. Carolyn discovered a water leak at the pump and did not know what to do. Tom, recovering from surgery,  could not check it out so Tom called David and he immediately came to the rescue. Within a few minutes he discovered the problem and fixed it.

David may have had plans for the day, he may have wanted to rest or do something for himself but he did not hesitate to come quickly when he was needed. That is true friendship.

Pastors Need Prayer

April 3, 2016

“Don’t put your Pastor on a pedestal where he can be knocked off, put him on your prayer list where he can be lifted up.”

Today most of us will be going to church to worship our Savior, and the Pastor has the responsibility to feed his flock, preach to the unsaved and lift up the broken-hearted. He needs your prayers. Pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit on your Pastor today. Put your Pastor’s name at the end of the following verse:

Romans 15:30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

Wait on the Lord

April 2, 2016

“I don’t understand it. The stint that I put in is nonviable. There is no blood going through it at all, but your leg is warm, there is no swelling, blood is flowing and your incisions are healing.” spoken by Tom’s surgeon this week.Then he went on to explain how over the months the little vessels have expanded and taken over the blood flow of the vein that has been removed. There are no main veins going to the lower leg and foot and still the circulation is improving.

Then the great statement from a doctor that is not a Christian. “Only God could have done that. He created your body to compensate for the loss.”

Sometimes we wonder why things happen and why it take so long to see results of prayer. It took months for those little vessels to expand. Ordinarily they would have burst like a balloon with too much air but instead they expanded. God is healing but on His timetable not ours. Waiting is always hard but God is in control.

Please pray for Tom that healing will complete. There is still several months of treatment and some plastic surgery in the future. Also, pray for this doctor and the plastic surgeon to be saved.

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Thomas Jefferson Quote

April 1, 2016

“The reason that Christianity is the best friend of government is because Christianity is the only religion that changes the heart.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

Thomas  Jefferson was the third president of the United States of America. Although he did not claim to be a born again Christian, he did study Christianity. The principal author of the Declaration of Independence included religious freedom as an important part of our rights as citizens.

From the above quote we see that Jefferson realized that God does change the heart, but from his writings and observations of others, we do not know if he ever accepted Christ as his Savior.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

He Arose

March 29, 2016

You may not have heard of a man named Robert Lowry, (1826-1899) but if you have been going to church you have heard and sung his hymns. He authored and composed over 200 hymns back in the 1800’s. “Shall we gather at the river”, “I need thee every hour”, “All the way my Savior leads me” are just a few that you may know. The one that we hear the most is sung at Easter services, “He Arose”:

1 Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,

waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain:

Up from the grave he arose;

with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;

he arose a victor from the dark domain,

and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.

He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

2 Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,

vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! [Refrain]

3 Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;

he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord! [Refrain]

1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
