Nicky

November 7, 2015

This is a photo of Tom Curtis and Nicky, Tom’s physical therapist. Nicky comes to help Tom recover from his surgery. Yesterday, Nicky asked Jesus to be his Savior.

 He had been reading his Bible especially Revelation. He wanted to know more and the first thing Tom told him was the 3 Things God Can Not Do. Then explained the gospel and Nicky was excited to invite Jesus to be his Savior.

Sometimes in life things can be difficult (like a long recovery from surgery) but God uses that very situation to bring people to Himself. Nicky, along with several others may not have had the opportunity to accept Chirst if Tom had not needed home health care to help with his recovery. No one comes in to contact with Tom without being witnessed to and every doctor, nurse, lab worker, house cleaner heard about the Lord when he was in the hospital.

God tells us to be witnesses whatever the circumstances and He will give the increase.

2 Timothy 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Brighten Your Corner

October 28, 2015

Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,Do not wait to shed your light afar;

To the many duties ever near you now be true,

Brighten the corner where you are.

Refrain:

Brighten the corner where you are!

Brighten the corner where you are!

Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;

Brighten the corner where you are!

Just above are clouded skies that you may help to clear,

Let not narrow self your way debar;

Though into one heart alone may fall your song of cheer,

Brighten the corner where you are.

Here for all your talent you may surely find a need,

Here reflect the bright and Morning Star;

Even from your humble hand the Bread of Life may feed,

Brighten the corner where you are.

Ina D. Ogden published 1913 (you can listen to it  on Utube)

This is an old happy song written over 100 years ago, but it will still lift your spirits today. The message in it is so true. Maybe you have a friend who is going through a hard time, a phone call, email or sometimes just a smile or a shoulder to cry on makes all the difference in the world to that person. You can always pray with someone.

It is our responsibility as Christians to let our light shine brightly and reflect the Love of Jesus to a hurting world.

Matthew 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We Will Rejoice

October 18, 2015

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118:24

This verse in the Bible has been a great comfort in times of great trial. Rejoicing is a choice. We WILL rejoice the verse says.

Many people, even Christians, go around looking and acting grumpy like they are angry with everyone including God. We choose to be a testimony for the Lord. Rejoice, not that you have a problem, but that you can trust the Lord to bring you through. The people around you can then see that Jesus is the One who gives you joy and comfort and will do the same for them.

What Are You Living For?

October 17, 2015

“Are the things you are living for…worth Christ dying for?” Adrian Rogers

Recently in conversation, several people have said they need to get rid of “stuff” they have accumulated over the years. It is so easy to allow small things to overtake space in our homes or even our workplace.

What about the “suff” we allow to overtake our hearts and minds? Bad habits, little sins, unforgiveness, anger, sinful movies or tv, anything not pleasing to God. Just like we need to clean out our homes we need to clean out our hearts.

Jesus died for all our sins and He is the heart cleaner. If you are a Christian, ask for His forgiveness and allow Him through the Holy Spirit to take away the “stuff” in your life.

If you have never become a Christian, the first thing is to admit to Jesus your sin, ask Him to forgive you. Jesus died on the cross, shead His precious blood so you could be saved, then He rose again on the third day. If you believe that with all your heart and invite Him to be your Savior, He promises that your sins will be forgiven.

Ephesians 4:31-32  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Positive or Negative?

October 3, 2015

Are you positive or negative?
“Positive: thinking about the good qualities of someone or something: thinking that a good result will happen: hopeful or optimistic.” Webster’s dictionary

“Negative: thinking about the bad qualities of someone or something: thinking that a bad result will happen: not hopeful or optimistic.” Webster’s dictionary

We are Christians and should be positive not negative. The Bible says that we are the light of the world. A flashlight is a good example, put a battery in a flashlight negative to negative and we are still in the dark. BUT put that battery in negative to positive and we have light.

 There is a man who has severe health problems but never complains. He is always positive and makes everyone around him positive. Christians and unbelievers like to be around him because he gives them hope. Usually the nonbelievers become believers because of his good attitude.

Be a positive influence in our dark world today.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Family

August 25, 2015

Family is so important. Treasure the family God has given you. It may be very small, just you and a husband, or child. Maybe your family is huge with fifty or more immediate children, grandchildren and more. No matter how many family members you have, love them, treat them with respect and don’t forget courtesy.

If you are a Christian it is even more important to have good relationships with your family. Sometimes misunderstanding can take years to correct but work on it until it is resolved. There is no greater joy than to have great fun and fellowship with the ones you love the most.

You belong to a unique family; the of God if you have been born again. You have a Heavenly Father, Brother named Jesus and many Christian brothers and sisters. You are never with out a family member with you at all times. Our Father is just a prayer away.

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Prayer for the Little Things

August 22, 2015

God answers prayer. He is interested in everything we do.

A visitor to SOS Events told us of a man who believed you should not bother God on Sunday because it is His day of rest. It is true the Bible says that God rested on the seventh day when he created the earth. But God never told us not to come to him in prayer. That is one of the great privileges we have as his children. He is always ready to listen and answer our prayers if we have been born into His family.

Many people only go to God when they have trials or something big happens and they need him. However, he cares about the little things in our lives. He wants us to go to Him with all our needs. It may be a small thing like we need a parking place when we go to the grocery store.

If you are a Christian, God wants us to go to him as our Father, and He delights in giving us what we ask. If you have never been born again, go to the “home” page on this website and follow the ABC’s of salvation. The first prayer God wants to hear is when you ask Jesus for forgiveness and accept Him as our Savior.

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Awesome God

August 16, 2015

Psalms 33:8Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

On the Lord’s Day, He deserves all worship and praise. We serve an awesome God.

Awesome is a word we attribute to God and we should. It also has become a word that we use when we like something or feel that a person is extra special in our lives.

Sometimes a Christian will admonish another for using the word awesome if they are not speaking of God, but the dictionary does not define that word to describe God only.

The Bible does not even have the word awesome in it and there are only three verses in the whole Bible that has the word awe. Let us love one another and not be critical of another Christian. We are to love the Lord with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves.

So today let us worship our “Awesome” God in spirit and in truth.

Nancy

Nancy is one of SOS Events faithful Senior Servants. She is a diligent worker, dedicated Christian, children’s Sunday school teacher and works tirelessly when she comes once a month to help SOS. She is an encourager. She not only comes herself but picks up others so they may come and help also. When there is a lot of work to do she is always willing to stay longer than expected until the job is done.Nancy is also a great witness. She loves to use the ” three things God cannot do” to witness to others.

When Nancy meets the Savior, He will say, well done thou good and faithful servant.

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
