Jesus is Alive!

April 10, 2023
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16:19-20

The Bible records many times Jesus appeared after He rose from being in the grave to many people.

To the women at the tomb that first Sunday morning. Two men walking on the road.

The disciples as the gathered together. To Thomas at another time when the disciples were together.

On the shore of the lake where Peter and some of the fishermen had been fishing and to many others.

Jesus ascended into Heaven after 40 days, but He left them with a command, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

That is His command to us also. It is our responsibility to tell others about Jesus death, burial and resurrection. He died for the people of the world, but they must hear it and accept the message to be assured of eternal life.

Jesus Has Risen! Hallelujah!

April 9, 2023

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. Matthew 26:1-9

Jesus is in the Tomb!

April 8, 2023
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Jesus taken down from the cross. Joseph of Arimathaea took His body and laid Him in a tomb that was carved out of a rock. A great stone was rolled over the door.

The disciples had scattered, the women wept, it seemed all was lost. The One who all thought would be King was dead.

The chief priest came to Pilate for fear Jesus body would be stolen. Pilate sent soldiers to seal the tomb and watch.

Fear, disappointment and grief. Jesus has died.

Maybe you feel no hope! There is good news. Jesus did not stay in that tomb. On the third day He rose from the dead.

Jesus did all of that for you and me. Eternal Life! That is why Jesus died and rose again.

Jesus, Death on the Cross

April 7, 2023

Jesus, beaten, bleeding is made to carry His own cross, through the streets where people mocked Him. They took Him to a hill called Golgotha.

Then they drove spikes into His hands and feet. The cross was lifted and dropped. The pain and agony Jesus suffered for hours as He hung on the cross.

He is slowly dying. Finally, He cries out, “It is finished.”

Finished. Why Jesus came from Heaven to Earth. To die on the cross for payment of our sin. His mission accomplished.

Jesus Put On Trial

April 6, 2023

So much has happened since we left Jesus praying in the garden. Judas has led the guards to Jesus, and He’s arrested and then tried by the High Priest, the high council, Pilate, and finally Herod. These “trials” are the very definition of a sham trial, a miscarriage of justice.

Jesus was without sin. They beat Him, put a crown of thorns on His Head. Mocked Him, spit on Him and He did not defend himself.

Then they led Him to Calvary where they nailed Him to a cross.

The amazing thing is that Jesus did all of that willingly. Why? Because of love for you and me. He suffered all that humiliation because it was the only way for us to have our sins forgiven!

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, Matthew 26:67

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Jesus in the Garden

April 5, 2023

Jesus knew He was soon going to die on the cross. He needed strength and courage to face this painful death.

He went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray. We sometimes forget that Jesus was a man. He had the same concerns in His body as we do. He felt pain and suffering. He was getting ready to take on all our sin. He was sinless.

He prayed 3 times that He would not have to endure this but then He told the FATHER, not My will but Yours. Jesus willingly was ready to die on the cross for our sin.

He said something else to His disciples. Watch and pray that you fall not into temptation.

What a lesson for us today. Trust God and be willing to do His will even if it is difficult. He will give us strength. Then be in prayer about everything. We do not want to give in to temptation.

And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matthew 26:39

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41

The Last Supper!

April 4, 2023

Jesus met with His disciples in an upper room that a man allowed them to use for Passover.

Jesus washed the disciples feet knowing thar Judas will betray Him.

Jesus gave the disciples bread. They ask Him, “ Is it I?” He told Judas it is him and Judas leaves.

Then Jesus continued with the bread and wine. Jesus told the disciples to do this is remembrance of Him.

We now observe Jesus death, burial and resurrection by participating in Communion. It is a time for us to reflect and confess any sin in our life and thank Jesus for His body and blood a sacrifice for our sin.

Communion is not for salvation. It is for Christians to remember Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life.

Luke 22:19-22And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Jesus Righteous Anger!

April 3, 2023

Did Jesus get angry? Yes, rightfully. Greedy people were selling sacrifice animals in the temple. These merchants where talking advantage of the people who came to worship in the temple.

Jesus called them thieves. They must have been selling animals at prices that were more than the animals were worth.

Not only that, the temple was a place for prayer, not merchandise. These merchants were a distraction for the people who wanted to worship.

It is a lesson to us as true believers. Do we allow the love of money or anything else distract us from worshipping God as we should? It is a good time to search our own hearts and make sure that nothing stands in our way when we worship.

Jesus, Triumphal Entry

April 2, 2023

Hosanna!! The people shouted as Jesus entered Jerusalem, riding on a donkey.

Palm leaves were laid in the path, honoring Jesus. Little did they know they were honoring the King of kings and Lord of Lords.

By the end of this week things will change. The people will be shouting a very different phrase.

A lesson for us. Do we honor Jesus one day and on another day turn away from Him when something happens that makes us think He is not who He is.

Our Savior, redeemer, and comforter. Jesus deserves all our honor, praise and worship.

And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Mark 11:8&9

Jesus, Our Savior

April 1, 2023
1 John 4:14 – And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

GOD, sent His Son, JESUS to be our Savior. The next week as we look forward to resurrection Sunday, we will focus on Jesus, the One who died on the cross to pay the penalty for all our sin.

1 John 4:14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
