Giving

April 10, 2015

It is so exciting when the mail comes in after the monthly newsletter has gone out. Usually there are many envelopes ready to be opened from SOS Events supporters.

This month there has been many blessings in the mail. First the regular supporters who are faithful to send an offering every month. Some of them have been supporting SOS Events since the ministry was founded in 2001. The faithfulness of these supporters is so appreciated. Without regular support the ministry would not have grown to what it is today and would not be able to continue.

Then there are people who love to give to projects. If there is a need, these people like to designate to the need. This month there were several mentioned. Funds for materials for building a paint shop, a new printer, traveling expenses for missionaries to go to the Talledega Races, individual support for new missionaries and several other requests.

As the mail keeps coming in many of the special requests have been met. One family sent an additional offering along with their monthly support through PayPal. A church donated a used printer that is better than any SOS Events could afford. Another person sent a check to help with traveling expenses. One special needs supporter gave SOS access to their account with a printing company to get banners printed for our missionaries. (A need that was not even mentioned in the newsletter). One of the local pastors donated some new lumber to help with the paint shop project. God uses people to meet the needs of the ministry and first Praise the Lord for His faithfulness. Then a big Thank You to every supporter who love to see souls come to Christ and gives. Every gift is a blessing and is used with the goal of seeing more people come to know JESUS.

If you would like to give click the donate button on the home page and all the information is there for you. God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Why CHRISTIANS Do Not Win Souls

April 8, 2015

John 4:13 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

15 reasons why Christians do not win souls

  1. Christians have no sense of urgency to reach lost people.
  2. Many Christians and church members do not befriend and spend time with lost persons.
  3. Many Christians and church members are lazy and apathetic.
  4. We are more known for what we are against than what we are for.
  5. Our churches have an ineffective evangelistic strategy of “you come” rather than “we go.”
  6. Many church members think that evangelism is the role of the pastor and paid staff.
  7. Church membership today is more about getting my needs met rather than reaching the lost.
  8. Church members are in a retreat mode as culture becomes more worldly and unbiblical.
  9. Many church members don’t really believe that Christ is the only way of salvation.
  10. Our churches are no longer houses of prayer equipped to reach the lost.
  11. Churches have lost their focus on making disciples who will thus be equipped and motivated to reach the lost.
  12. Christians do not want to share the truth of the gospel for fear they will offend others. Political correctness is too commonplace even among Christians.
  13. Most churches have unregenerate members who have not received Christ themselves.
  14. Some churches have theological systems that do not encourage evangelism.
  15. Our churches have too many activities; they are too busy to do the things that really matter.

GOD Provides

April 7, 2015

SOS Events ministry has many needs. One of the main ones this month is a new printer for the office as the one we have is many years old and has been a great machine but in need of replacing.

To make the need known it was listed in the “Life Saver News” SOS monthly newsletter. Before the letter was mailed one of SOS supporters called and said their family had been blessed with some extra money and did SOS have a need that they could give to.

They did donate most of the money for the new printer which is on the way.

God knew the need before it was published and provided before He was asked. Praise the Lord.

 Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Changed Lives

April 6, 2015

Sylvia and Yongei came to Florida from Iowa to work in the booth at Strawberry Festival this year. In this picture they are with a man they led to the Lord. This is the second time they have come to join with SOS at the Festival. They fly in, rent a car and stay at a hotel all at their own expense which is a great blessing.

When they were here they received a copy of the book “101 Salvation Stories”, read some of the stories and decided to take copies back to their Bible study group. They gave each person a copy and a week later asked one of the ladies, Sue, if she had read it. Sue said she had but realized she was not saved while reading the book. They immediately led Sue into a relationship with the Lord and are rejoicing in her salvation. Recently we have received 2 more reports of people being saved in Iowa. SOS Training and participation changes lives, both for the new converts and the soul winners.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Hope is Gone

April 4, 2015

” Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord! Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,
vainly they seal the dead, ” Robert Lowry

Part of this hymn is left out for a reason. The disciples, the women, his Mother and other followers must have been devistated when JESUS was crucified. All hope gone. The One they thought was the Messiah, the King. Dead. They had no idea what was to come.

Sometimes as CHRISTIANS we feel that way. Maybe the death of a loved one, loss of home or job. The betrayal of a close friend. Illness, discouragement. Many things in our lives can seem impossible, but we like those early followers don’t know the end of the story. Joy comes in the morning.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday. HE AROSE!!!!

Psalms 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

JESUS in the News

April 3, 2015

JESUS is in the news and featured on TV this week. There are several movies, documentaries and discussions about Him. He becomes the popular subject for debate this time of year, especially by newscasters who most do not really know who He is.

It is sad that only 2 times a year, Easter and Christmas that people talk about Jesus. Even CHRISTIANS are guilty. We should be talking and witnessing about Jesus everyday of the year. Without Him there would be no hope of Heaven, no forgiveness of sin and no real joy in our lives.

Christian, let us put JESUS the main subject of discussion 365 days a year. He will give us the power to witness of His great love, death, burial and resurrection.

Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Faithful Servant

April 2, 2015

Joy is one of the charter members of SOS Senior Servants. Every First Thursday of the month she along with 15-20 ladies come to help with projects for the ministry. In this picture she is counting tracts to put in baggies for distribution. As the ministry grows and more work needs to be done Joy and the other ladies are very much appreciated. Please pray for Joy and all our Senior Servants as they do have problems. Health is always an issue as we get older, but these ladies are faithful servants.

Luke 19:17  And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

One Day

April 1, 2015

This hymn could be an Christmas Carol, a song for His Crucifixion, an Easter hymn or a joyful phrase for JESUS coming again. It is a personal favorite because the whole story of Jesus from birth to His coming again! Just read the words penned so long ago by j. Wilbur Chapman.

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises,

One day when sin was as black as could be,

Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin,

Dwelt among men, my example is He!

Refrain

Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;

Buried, He carried my sins far away;

Rising, He justified freely forever;

One day He’s coming—O glorious day!

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain,

One day they nailed Him to die on the tree;

Suffering anguish, despised and rejected:

Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!

Refrain

One day they left Him alone in the garden,

One day He rested, from suffering free;

Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil;

Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He!

Refrain

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,

One day the stone rolled away from the door;

Then He arose, over death He had conquered;

Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

Refrain

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming,

One day the skies with His glories will shine;

Wonderful day, my belovèd ones bringing;

Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!

Refrain

Hebrews 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
