GOD is the author of peace. GOD is not the author of confusion. The answer is to draw close to God through Bible reading and prayer. Also, seek godly counsel from a trusted Christian, pastor or friend.

It Is Well With My Soul

Many are still celebrating Christmas and looking for ward to New Years Activities, but some people are hurting. Today there is a funeral for a father of 3 who was killed in an accident 2 days befor Christmas. Another friend’s brother died from cancer last week. As Christians we can say even in the midst of tragedy, it is well with my soul. If you are hurting our prayer for you is to lean on Jesus who can give you the peace and comfort you need through this difficult time.

This song was written by Horatio G. Spafford in 1873 when he was over the spot where his 4 daughters were drowned when the ship they were traveling on sank. He was on his way to comfort his grieving wife when the “peace that passes understanding” prompted him to write this beautiful hymn. 

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Peace and Joy

Christmas is over, the presents are opened, leftovers are in the fridge and the cleanup and putting away of decorations has begun. Many people feel a letdown after the long awaited day is over. However for the Christian, the joy of knowing Jesus, not as a baby in a manger, but as our  Lord and Savior brings an inner peace and joy that only we can know.

May the sprit of “peace on earth, goodwill toward men” be with you today and throughout the year everyday.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

We need unity and peace. The media has helped to create discord in our country. Christians, instead of watching the chaos take that time to pray for our leaders that they will be calm and seek Godly council. Now is the time for the USA to unite as one nation under God.

1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Billy Graham once said, “We have so many battles going on in America today that we should be a people of prayer. Our leaders need prayer. Our schools need prayer. Our youth need our prayers. Our families need our prayer.”
America is in a state of chaos and confusion. Mass murders on our citizens and police officers, riots in the streets, immorality and complete disregard of the law. We are being attacked by evil from without and within.

Today, more than ever the USA needs prayer. Chistian will you join with me and pray for revival in America? The only hope for peace in our country is that we as a nation turn back to God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Peace Be Still

Mark 4:39And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Residents of Florida and the East Coast are preparing for a tropical storm named Colin. June 1st, hurricane season starts. Many people fear these storms and it is right to take precautions, however, as Christians we know that the Lord is in control.

We also have “storms” in our lives for which we have no control, but He is the only One who can control every situation with those words, “Peace be still.” Whatever the storm is for you today or in the future if it be physical, mental or spiritual turn to Jesus to calm your fears and bring peace to your heart.

Peace be Still

On Wednesday the sky was dark, thunder, lightning, wind, rain and threat of hail. Not a day that SOS Events could set up a booth at the Flea Market. Every other day this week has been beautiful, sunshine in Florida. Sometimes we wonder why God would let it storm on a day when souls could be saved but He is in control and we trust Him.

Life is like the weather, sometimes our days are full of sunshine and other times there are storms. We are quick to Praise Him in the good times but when the trials come, do we Praise Him then? 

Jesus is willing and able to still the storm in our lives just as He said to the sea, “Peace be still” and immediately the storm stopped. He is with us in the sunshine and He is with us in the storms. He will never leave us or forsake us, so yes, we do need to Praise Him in the storms of life.

If this is a time in your life that you are going through a storm allow the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to bring peace to your troubled heart. Remember, there is always sunshine after the rain.

Primary Day

Today in the USA is important in the area of politics because in several key states it is primary day.  This is the day when registered voters go and vote for who they want to be their candidate for the next President. 

There has been great controversy this election and unrest with the American people. The whole world watches as our Country is deteriorating before our eyes in the press, on radio and television. There is hope for unity in America and though it is every citizen’s privilege and duty to vote that is not the answer for peace. 

The answer is in the Bible in 2 Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

 

What a Friend We Have In Jesus

 1. What a friend we have in Jesus, 

all our sins and griefs to bear! 

What a privilege to carry 

everything to God in prayer! 

O what peace we often forfeit, 

O what needless pain we bear, 

all because we do not carry 

everything to God in prayer. 
2. Have we trials and temptations? 

Is there trouble anywhere? 

We should never be discouraged; 

take it to the Lord in prayer. 

Can we find a friend so faithful 

who will all our sorrows share? 

Jesus knows our every weakness; 

take it to the Lord in prayer. 
3. Are we weak and heavy laden, 

cumbered with a load of care? 

Precious Savior, still our refuge; 

take it to the Lord in prayer. 

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? 

Take it to the Lord in prayer! 

In his arms he’ll take and shield thee; 

thou wilt find a solace there. 

The words of this hymn were written by Joseph Scriven, a man that had suffered much tragedy in his life. The day before his wedding his fiancé had drowned in a lake. Brokenhearted he decided to move from Ireland to Canada to start a new life. His mother stayed behind and Ireland and word came that she was gravely ill. He wrote her a poem that became the hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.

He fell in love once again, and before the wedding could take place his beloved Eliza contracted tuberculosis and died. He never married. In his later years he became ill and his friend found the words to his poem. He had never intended his poetry to be published but the words were to beautiful not to be heard by others. His death was also a tragedy, he was ill and delirious, walked outside, fell into a creek and drowned.Edit

God use the tragedies in Joseph’s life to bless generations with the wonderful words of his writings. It is obvious that his love for the Lord gave him peace even in tragedy.
