Eleven people trusted Jesus as their Savior at the Flea Market yesterday. A picture is worth 1000 words.
Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.
The words of this hymn were written by Joseph Scriven, a man that had suffered much tragedy in his life. The day before his wedding his fiancé had drowned in a lake. Brokenhearted he decided to move from Ireland to Canada to start a new life. His mother stayed behind and Ireland and word came that she was gravely ill. He wrote her a poem that became the hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.
He fell in love once again, and before the wedding could take place his beloved Eliza contracted tuberculosis and died. He never married. In his later years he became ill and his friend found the words to his poem. He had never intended his poetry to be published but the words were to beautiful not to be heard by others. His death was also a tragedy, he was ill and delirious, walked outside, fell into a creek and drowned.
God use the tragedies in Joseph’s life to bless generations with the wonderful words of his writings. It is obvious that his love for the Lord gave him peace even in tragedy.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
January 27th is a date marked on the calendar as special because in the family there are 3 birthdays. There are Birthday wishes, cards, presents as these 3 are celebrating their physical birth, but there is a more important birthday to celebrate in all of their lives. That is their second birthday. That birthday is a Spiritual Birth the day they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Happy Birthday Barry, Jeannie, John and all others who may have a birthday today.
The question is do you have two birthdays? Have you been born again? If you would like to know how go to the home page and click on the 3 Things God Can Not Do, then continue down to the ABC’s of salvation and pray. You have to repent of your sins, believe in your heart and ask Jesus to make your life new. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
No problem is too great to place in God’s hands.
What a true saying on a church sign. God will be with us in any problem great or small.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Newborn babies are so precious and everyone celebrates. Then every year on their birthday we send birthday wishes, buy presents, maybe have a birthday party. That baby has no choice in their birth.
There is a birthday that we do have a choice. It is the second birth. Everyone needs the second birth to go to Heaven. Jesus told Nicodemus, “You must be born again.”
Do you have 2 birthdays? If you do not, go to the home page and follow the instructions starting with the “3 Things God Can Not Do”.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Happy New Year from the staff at SOS Events. May God grant you a blessed year. If you walk with Jesus every day you will be blessed no matter what your circumstances.
I Thessalonians 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Prophesy fulfilled. After the wise men’s visit, Joseph was warned in a dream to take Jesus and Mary and flee to Egypt. Herod was seeking to kill Jesus and not getting a report back from the wise men he had all the young children in Bethlehem killed. But Jesus was safe and the little family stayed in Egypt until Herod was dead.
Then once again Joseph had a dream and returned but went to live in Nazareth where Jesus grew from childhood until He started His earthly ministry.
God’s Word is true. Every prophesy concerning Jesus birth was fulfilled down to the last detail. Many people leave Jesus in the manger as a baby but do not believe future events also predicted in the Bible. Jesus is the Messiah, He did die on the cross and He is coming again to rule and reign over all the world. Are you ready for a great future with Jesus the coming King?
Matthew 2:13-15 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
The account of the wise men who came to worship Jesus is found in Matthew 2:1-12. Tradition says they were three kings who came from the east but the country they came from is not mentioned. They were thought to be 3 because of the number of gifts and kings because of the value of the gold, frankincense and myrrh.
They followed a star which appeared in the heavens until they came to Jerusalem and inquired of Herod where the King was born. Herod wanted to know more about this baby and asked the wise men to bring news of His whereabouts when they found Him. They continued to follow the star, presented their gifts and worshiped Jesus. Then being warned in a dream went a different way back to their country and did not report to Herod.
There is a saying,”Wise men still seek Him”. Are you seeking Jesus? What He wants is our desire to follow Him as the wise men followed the star and to worship Him and give the gift of ourselves to Him. Are you wise?
Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him
Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple. She was the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, and was very old. She was a widow, for her husband had died when they had been married only seven years.
Probably, after her husbands death, Anna would have been encouraged to get married again and have children. Anna, chose to stay single. She chose to serve the Lord. She chose to fast and pray, worshiping the Lord day and night. She told people the news of the Savior that was coming, no matter how long it might be before he came. She knew her purpose and she didn’t let anyone’s opinions or comments keep her from it. Then Anna saw Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus in the temple and knew her purpose had been fulfilled.
Luke 2:36-38 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
