Give Thanks

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

George Washington Quote

March 18, 2016

God has blessed America with some great Presidents. Our country has been governed by men who may or may not have been born again Christians but they honored God and the principles set down in the Bible. Some of their quotes will be posted on the blog in the coming weeks.

George Washington the first USA President honored God in his writings, speeches and at public as well as private events. He was a great statesman and leader and brought the Country through the transition from a colony to an independent nation.

Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Tired of Answering Machines?

February 27, 2016

Have you made a phone call that is answered but a computer? This is an example of a church answering message: if you want to speak to the pastor press 1, for the assistant pastor press 2, youth director press 3, prayer requests press 4. And on it goes.

Then when you get to the person you want this is the next message: Sorry, I am not at my desk right now, leave your number and I will return your call as soon as possible.

This is scenario is repeated in businesses, doctors offices almost any large company that you are trying to contact. Usually the call is unsuccessful or there is a long wait until you reach someone to help you.

There is One Person that you have a direct line to, that is always on call and that is God. He is always ready to listen and will always hear your requests. He never slumbers nor sleeps and is with you 24/7. What a wonderful Savior!

 Jeremiah 33:3  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Presidential Race

January 30, 2016

January is almost over in a presidential election year. TV, radio, newspapers and magazines seem to have one theme, the election. As an American I want to be informed but get weary of hearing the same thing over and over again.

Each candidate say they have the answer for our country, but the Bible has only one solution to the problems in any nation.

Christians can make a difference in the nation that you reside. The Bible says we must humble ourselves, seek God’s face and He will heal our land. It is our responsibility to be informed, vote, but the most important thing that we can do is put God first in our lives, Love and honor Him and trust Him for the results.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Are You a Winner?

January 23, 2016

Winners are losers who gave it one more try.

There is an insurance company in town that always has a interesting saying written on their sign. This one caught my eye because it reminded me of the Christian life.

God never promised that when we get saved our life will be easy. In fact the devil will attack a Christian and try to make him or her ineffective for the Lord. God did promise that He will go through our trials and testing. It is our responsibility to keep on serving Him no matter what the circumstances.

If you seem to be at a place where nothing is working in your Christian life, give it one more try. The biggest thing to remember is don’t quit. Some of the greatest inventors, statesmen, preachers and musicians failed many times befor they became successful at the goal they were trying to reach.

Philippians 2:16  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

To God Be The Glory

January 22, 2016

Verse 1

To God be the glory, great things He hath done;

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,

Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,

And opened the life gate that all may go in.
Refrain

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.
Verse 2

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,

To every believer the promise of God;

The vilest offender who truly believes,

That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
(Refrain)
Verse 3

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,

And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;

But purer, and higher, and greater will be

Our wonder, our rapture, when Jesus we see.

This is one of the hymns written by Fanny Crosby about 1875 and was popular in England. Ira Sankey introduced it to America in the D. L. Moody revivals but it became popular when Cliff Barrows used it in Billy Graham’s London crusade and then in the crusade in Nashville, TN.

Many of the older great hymns are no longer being sung in our churches as newer music is being introduced more frequently due to modern media. New is good but let us not forget the old hymns that have stood the test of time and honored God in ways that some of the newer songs lack.

Romans 16:27  To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

God is Faithful

January 20, 2016

This is what it looks like when SOS Events is setting up for an event. On Saturday a team from SOS went to Sebring, FL to do an event at Camp Sparta. 15 souls were saved. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness. When one of the teams from SOS Events goes to win souls at an event God always blesses. We are His witnesses but He brings the conviction and saves by the power of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 1:9  God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

True Worship

January 3, 2016

“Worship in the truest sense takes place only when our full attention is on GOD – on His glory, power, majesty, love and compassion.” – Billy Graham
Are you a true worshiper of God? Our minds tend to wander when we are listening to a sermon, praying or reading scripture. We must give God our full attention when we are coming to Him in worship. Focus on God today and think of what He has done and more importantly who He is.
Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
