Encourage Yourself!

January 4, 2024
God Loves You

Sometimes we get discouraged and look at our life negatively. In the Bible, David, had a lot of reasons to be discouraged. His Brothers treated him with no respect, Saul tried to kill him, and he had many enemies. But, he encouraged himself, went on to become king and was a man after God’s heart. Not a perfect man, but a good example for us.

So today, whatever your problem, encourage yourself to do right, look to God for the answer and you will have a happier, healthier life.

1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

New Year Resolutions

January 2, 2024

Did you make a New Year Resolution? Maybe it was to loose weight, stay on a budget, or exercise every day. Whatever it is, usually we have good intentions. Then reality comes in and we fail.

There is one resolution that is more important than any other. That is to read the Bible and pray everyday.

This is one resolution that is vital to your spiritual health and happiness. Do not allow anything to stop you from communicating with your Savior, Jesus, on a daily basis. He loves you.

Without communication there is no relationship. Start today!

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Mathew 7:7

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2024

My prayer for you is that 2024 will be a year of blessing from the Lord.

Whatever the year May bring, that you will trust the Lord for His goodness. Joy or sorrow, every year has some of both. The one thing that is certain. God loves you and wants only the best for you.

My favorite verse in the Bible has gotten me through everything in life. Good times and bad.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5 & 6

New Year’s Eve A New Beginning

December 31, 2023

Many people will be celebrating New Year’s Eve tonight drinking, going to parties, etc., only to start the New Year with a headache and hangover. We can start our New Year with a clean heart.

Christians take time this evening to pray for forgiveness for the unconfessed sins that we have committed.

If you have never accepted Jesus as your Savior there is no better way to start a new year than becoming a new person in Christ.

Happy New Year. May 2024 bring you and your loved ones peace and joy that only the Lord can give.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A New Year Coming

December 30, 2023

2023 is almost over. Just a few more days to reflect on this past year. Every year has both joy and sorrow. Maybe this year there was a new birth in your family, or you had a promotion on your job or moved into a new house. Think of the joy that you had this past year.

Then there may have been sorrow, a death in the family that has left a huge hole in your heart, or maybe you lost your job or your house is foreclosed.

Contrasts in life is a normal thing for man. The good news is that there is a new year coming that is like a blank canvas. God will bring some blessings and He may allow some sorrow, but it is always exciting to look forward to the new year and know that God will direct our path if we trust Him.

Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.

Anna In The Temple

December 27, 2023

Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple. She was the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, and was very old. She was a widow, for her husband had died when they had been married only seven years.

Probably, after her husbands death, Anna would have been encouraged to get married again and have children.

Anna, chose to stay single. She chose to serve the Lord. She chose to fast and pray, worshiping the Lord day and night. She told people the news of the Savior that was coming, no matter how long it might be before he came.

She knew her purpose and she didn’t let anyone’s opinions or comments keep her from it. Then Anna saw Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus in the temple and knew her purpose had been fulfilled.

Luke 2:36-38 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption.

The Christmas Star

December 12, 2023

It’s hard to go anywhere during Christmas without seeing stars hanging from street lamps or sitting on top of Christmas trees.

The star is one of the most recognizable symbols of Christmas. It represents the star that appeared in the sky when Jesus Christ was born. The star led the Wise Men to Jesus and reminds us to follow the light of the Savior just as the Wise Men followed the light of the star to find Him.

Have you found him as the Wise men did? Not as a baby but as Lord and Savior in your life.

Matthew 2:1&2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Mistletoe-Symbol of God’s Love

December 9, 2023

Mistletoe symbolizes the love we are able to offer to others only because of Christ who “first loves us.”

This year, tell family and friends about the true meaning of mistletoe.

Be sure to let them know that the corresponding kiss is a symbol of peace, romance and the love of a Heavenly Father who sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross, was buried and rose again on the third day, as the payment for all our sins.

God’s love for us is the true meaning of Christmas.

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

The Wreath-Symbol of Eternal Life

December 6, 2023

The wreath has significant meaning for the season. It’s circular shape represents eternity, for it has no beginning and no end.

For a Christian, it represents an unending circle of life. The evergreen, most frequently used in making wreathes, symbolizes growth and everlasting life.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.
John 10:28-30

Your Time Is The Best Gift!

December 2, 2023

What a wonderful verse to start with for the month of December! God does supply all our needs.

Some people have abundance of money and material things. Others have very little. The Christmas season is a time for giving. It is not the cost of the gifts, it is the gift given from the heart that counts.

A phone call, letter or an invitation for a meal can mean more than the most expensive present in the world. Your time with your friends and family is the most meaningful gift you can give.

God wants the same thing. You can give a large offering, go to church or do some charity work, but the most important thing you can give to God is time to read His word, pray and then tell someone else about His special gift, the Lord Jesus.
