Monday Morning

January 8, 2018

Monday morning starts the new work week for most of us. If you love Mondays, congratulations, if you dread the start of a new week, remember your attitude has a lot to do with how your day and the rest of the week will be. Christian, today is the day the Lord has made, He says to rejoice and be glad in it. Look for something positive and you will find it. Happy Monday!

Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Winter is Here

January 3, 2018

Winter came in with extremely cold weather all over the USA. Some of us love the cold and others hate it, but the Bible says give thanks in all things. If you love the cold go out and enjoy it. For those who think they will freeze to death, curl up with a blanket and a good book. Be thankful for the change in seasons, it gives us verity in our lives. Weather changes but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Joy in Jesus

January 2, 2018

The Christmas decorations are put away, the holiday season is over. Let us not pack away the joy we have in Jesus, but keep Him the center of our lives all year long.

Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Concerned About the Future?

December 28, 2017

Looking forward to the New Year is exciting for some and discouraging for others. Many people of all ages have real concerns about the future. Young adults who are single are wondering if they will find the right person to marry. Jobs are uncertain and they do not know what the future will bring. The young married couples face problems of child rearing to be overwhelming at times or maybe making decisions on having a family at all. Middle age brings different kind of trials. Many have children still at home, grandchildren coming along and possibly elderly parents that need care. Then the elderly may have health problems, financial concerns and fears about death. All of these people have genuine concerns, and without proper guidance the future may look grim. BUT, the answer to all of these uncertainties is in One person, the Lord Jesus. He is the answer. He told us to cast our care upon Him. Total trust in Jesus will bring peace and encouragement no matter what our age or circumstance. He will answer prayer and bring into our life what is best or us.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

New Year’s Resolutions

December 27, 2017

Thinking about a New Year’s Resolution? Usually it is something like, “I am going to diet, or I will exercise, I will stop some bad habit, I will turn over a new leaf.” Whatever it is you want to change in your life for the New Year lasts a few days, a week or maybe even a month. The problem is most of us do not have the willpower to continue our resolution for a long period of time.

For a real life change there is only one way to do it and that is through Jesus. If you are not a Christian, you need to call on Him to be saved. If you are a Christian, then you need to call on Him daily for help to do whatever you need to do to make changes in your life to make you what you need to be. Without Jesus life changes are hard if not impossible. It is still a few days until The New Year. Why wait? Call upon Jesus today and start 2018 right.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Peace and Joy

December 26, 2017

Christmas is over, the presents are opened, leftovers are in the fridge and the cleanup and putting away of decorations has begun. Many people feel a letdown after the long awaited day is over. However for the Christian, the joy of knowing Jesus, not as a baby in a manger, but as our  Lord and Savior brings an inner peace and joy that only we can know.

May the sprit of “peace on earth, goodwill toward men” be with you today and throughout the year everyday.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Tidings of Joy

December 15, 2017

Christmas is 10 Days from today. You may be busy with parties, shopping, Christmas programs and all the preparation for your special family traditions. But do not forget the true meaning of Christmas in your busy life.

It is a good thing to read the Christmas story in Luke 2. God gave us the greatest gift of all, salvation through His Son Jesus. Thank you, Father, for sending your Son, Jesus, to be born to die on the cross for our sins.

Our prayer at SOS Events is that everyone we know and people who read the blog will have a wonderful time with family and friends.

To those who have lost loved ones this year it can be a difficult time but God also sent the Holy Spirit to comfort our hearts and bring joy in the times of grief.

Some of you may have no family, but remember you have a friend that sticks closer than a brother and we can have joy in our heart no matter what the circumstance.

God meets every need and we need to Praise Him.

Luke 1:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

The Perfect Gift

December 10, 2017

The next 15 days for a lot of people will be the busiest time of year preparing for that perfect Christmas gift. Shopping in crowded stores, looking at catalogs, shopping on line.

The best gift you can give anyone is telling them about Jesus. For your unsaved friend, coworker or relative their best gift would be receiving Jesus as their Savior.

For your Christian loved ones a time of fellowship, a phone call or a message. Your time is more precious than any gift you could possibly buy.

Enjoy the Christmas season but don’t forget the best gift ever given…..Jesus.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Keep Christ in Christmas

December 9, 2017

“Happy Holidays” is what you hear when shopping this year. Store cashiers and employees are trained not to say “Merry Christmas.” We must not offend anyone. What a shame. Just one more way the enemy has used to take Christ out of Christmas.

As Christians our response should be “Merry Christmas”. There would be no Holy day without Jesus. Let us honor our Lord every chance we get. Keep Christ in Christmas by your words but more importantly keep Him first in your heart. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Matthew 1:18

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

A Child’s Gift

December 7, 2017

In the next few weeks there will be Christmas programs in churches and schools (of course to be politically correct in schools they will be called holiday programs).Songs will be happy and you may even hear a Carol or two. Looking back in memory there was one program that stands out in my mind and I have seen and even directed many of these programs. This only one that I remember clearly is when my son, who was about 3 years old, recited this little poem:

“I’m not very big or very tall you see, but to the dear Lord Jesus I give all of me.”

From the mouth of a child, that is what our gift to the Lord should be. Our heart, mind and body should be dedicated to Him this Christmas. We scurry around finding the perfect gift for each friend or loved one and many times forget the One whose birthday we are celebrating. So this season enjoy all festivities but put Jesus first. He desires our worship, love and devotion.

Luke 18:17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
