SOS Events ministry works in partnership with the local church. Periodically we will post some of the answers to questions that have been asked by fellow workers, pastors and others who may want to know what our beliefs and goals are for the ministry.

 Baptism

The focus of SOS is to win souls.

 We believe baptism is an ordinance of the church. New believers can be followed up by the church, which would include discipleship, baptism and membership to serve the Lord along side fellow believers.

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Salvations on 4th of July

Reports are coming in for the events held on The July 4th weekend. In Polk City, Fl. Randy and Romona Thomas set up a SOS Events booth at the Land of the Free event. Seven souls were saved, 1 adult, 2 teenagers and 3 twelve year olds and one girl age 11. A 15 year old girl wrote on the back of her decision card, “I learned about my spiritual birthday – I asked Jesus to forgive me for my sins and to come into my heart.”

In New Jersey, Lavana and the SOS Events group went to the Columbus Farmers Market and had 6 people make decisions for Christ, 3 from New Jersey 2 from Pennsylvania and one from Virginia.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Pray for America

July 3, 2016

America needs prayer. Our country is 238 years old and is in danger of collapsing from without and from within. Many of us will celebrate the 4th of July with picnics, fireworks and family parties not even taking one minute to stop and thank God for our great Country and ask His continued blessing on the USA. Christian, please take time to pray for America in these perilous time.

Dedicated Workers

July 2, 2016

SOS EVENTS has some dedicated workers who go out to win souls no matter what the weather. In Florida this season of year the temperature rises to between 85 and 95 degrees and it feels much hotter as the day progresses. However, every Wednesday there are faithful workers who go to the Flea Market in Plant City to win souls. In the last 2 weeks 18 people have trusted Jesus as their Savior. That is dedication. These workers are very much appreciated and deserve a giant THANK YOU.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Growth

SOS Events display board at Daily Vacation Bible School, Bible Baptist Church in Appomattox, VA. Many children attended and several were saved.

SOS Events continues to grow. Display boards, tracts and other materials are used all over the USA and in several foreign countries. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and leadership.

Little Children

A young boy, William, 7 years old got saved at Daily Vacation Bible School recently. He was so excited and went home and told his little 3 year old brother, Isaac, that that he needed to give his heart to Jesus.

Isaac replied, “I will give my heart to Jesus someday but I need it right now.” (William and Isaac are the Curtis’ great grandsons)

Children, especially when very young, sometimes do not understand the terminology we use to present the Gospel. Just as a reminder to those of us who witness to make sure that the person we witness to understands how to be saved. 

The simple “3 Things God Can Not Do” is a wonderful way to witness to older children and adults but when talking with younger children we need to make sure they understand. Sometimes it is better to give a tract or witness to the parent and trust God to bring the child to Himself when the child is a little older. Always ask the Holy Spirit to direct you when witnessing.

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
