Simon Peter

February 10, 2016

The Bible gives an account of how Jesus chose His disciples. In Mark 1:16 and 17 Simon  and Andrew are chosen.

They were just common men, brothers, who earned their living catching fish. Jesus told them to follow Him and they would become fishers of men.

Simon was a impetuous man, bold, boisterous had a temper. Jesus changed his name to Peter. Peter was always putting his foot in his mouth but one thing about Peter was that when Jesus told them (Peter and Andrew) to “follow me” they simply walked away and left everything they had without a second thought.

Peter also was the disciple who denied Jesus 3 times and wept bitterly over his betrayal of his Savior. Even with all his faults and sins, Peter became one of the greatest witnesses. He was the first one to preach on the day of Pentecost after the coming of the Holy Spirit and he was the first one to proclaim Christ to a Gentile. He was one of the boldest apostles of all. He willingly suffered persecution, imprisonment, beatings, and even rejoiced at the fact that he was worthy to suffer disgrace for the Lord‘s sake.

Jesus changed the life of an ordinary man into one who became a great witness for the Lord. Jesus is still changing lives today and through the power of the Holy Spirit we too can become great witnesses for Him.

Mark 1:16-17 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

Are You Sitting?

February 7, 2016

Could a mariner sit idle if he heard the drowning cry? Could a doctor sit in comfort and just let his patients die? Could a fireman sit idle, let men burn and give no hand? Can you sit at ease in Zion with the world around you damned?”

Leonard Ravenhill

People around us are dying without Christ. We need to stop sitting and start witnessing. All of us can pray for the lost and we can had out a tract. Most of us have opportunities to witness to someone, a delivery man, a wrong number on the phone, a person in the grocery store. Look for people to tell about Jesus. When you get to heaven, do not go in empty handed? Many Christians have never won anybody to Jesus in their lifetime. How sad. Do not be one of them. Tell someone about Jesus today.

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Parking Lot Salvation

January 29, 2016

Quite frequently Tom will wait in the car while Carolyn goes shopping. Always looking for someone to witness to, Tom saw a young man collecting the grocery carts to take them inside. Tom called him over to the car.

Tom was going to hand him my tract, and decided to carry on the conversation a little longer. Tom asked the young man whose name is Christian if he was 50, 75, or 100% sure he was on his way to heaven.

Christian said, “I am not sure at all.”

Tom then proceeded to lead Christian into the plan of salvation and Christian gladly accepted  the Lord. All of this took place in less than five minutes.

Usually when a person is working handing them tract is all that should be done because we would not want anyone to  have a problem with their employer. But Christian was working outside that day and the conversation was very short.

Tom did not get Christian’s full address because of the time but did get his phone number and will follow up.

Going Fishing?

January 26, 2016

This week a Pastor from Virginia was excited to help expand SOS Events ministry. He is planning a training in the next month or two as several people have expressed interest in learning the “3 Things God Can Not Do.”

In our conversation he said one of the ladies that was at an SOS training a few years ago, just last week took one of the 3 Things tract, used it to witness to her brother in law and he accepted Christ. What joy! Even after years this woman used what she had learned and used it to fish for men.

Using the simple plan of salvation in SOS Events materials works with enthusiasm of the soul winner and the power of the Holy Spirit. Want to learn how to fish?

Ecclesiastes 11:1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

Matthew 4:19  And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

What’s In Your Wallet?

January 15, 2016

What’s in your wallet? What you carry in your wallet or purse can make a great difference in someone’s life.

Every Christian should carry tracts wherever you go. Keep one or two in your wallet. Several in your purse. Always have them in your car, but don’t leave them there.

When you are in a grocery store, market, work, school just say sweetly “I have something for you to read.”

Most everyone will accept a tract and it is a way to tell others how they can go to Heaven.

If you need tracts, contact SOS Events and we will send you 10 tracts free.

Weep for Your Country

November 18, 2015

“Our country’s in great need of a spiritual awakening. There have been times that I’ve wept as I’ve gone from city to city and I’ve seen how far people have wandered from God.” Billy Graham

It is time Christians look around and weep and pray for their country. There are many people from countries other than America who read this blog, and at SOS Events we are thankful for each one who takes the time to read and follow. Today we did not limit the burden for the USA only but for every nation in the world.

Christian, the best thing you can do for your country is to pray and tell everyone you can about Jesus and His love. We can make a change in lives, one soul at a time.

Luke 19:41  And when he (Jesus) was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

I Love to Tell the Story

November 16, 2015

A young girl, Katherine Hankey, who devoted her life to Sunday school work fell seriously ill at age 30.
During her convalescence, in the year 1866, she wrote a long poem which contains the words of this hymn:

I Love to Tell the Story

(1) I love to tell the story Of unseen things above,

Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love;

I love to tell the story- Because I know ’tis true,

It satisfies my longings As nothing else can do.

CHORUS:

I love to tell the story!

Twill be my theme in glory-

To tell the old, old story

Of Jesus and His love.

(2) I love to tell the story- More wonderful it seems

Than all the golden fancies Of all our golden dreams;

I love to tell the story- It did so much for me,

And that is just the reason- I tell it now to Thee.

(3) I love to tell the story- ‘Tis pleasant to repeat

What seems, each time I tell it, More wonderfully sweet;

I love to tell the story- For some have never heard

The message of salavtion From God’s own holy word.

(4) I love to tell the story- For those who know it best

Seem hungering and thirsting To hear it like the rest;

And when in scenes of glory I sing the new, new song,
‘Twill be the old, old story That I have loved so long.”

Every Christian should love to tell about Jesus. That is the reason SOS Events ministry was founded. To tell others how to be saved and to teach Christians how to tell in a simple non confrontational way.

Acts 11:14  Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

390 Decisions for Christ

November 11, 2015

SOS Events team in Alabama once again did a terrific job witnessing and winning souls using the “3 Things God Can Not Do” at an event.

Patty Mills, team leader, wrote:
We are praising God for the 390 decisions for Christ made at the Alabama National Fair over 10 days – Oct. 30 through Nov. 8. Without the prayers and the Holy Spirit going before us, using us and going after us, none of it would have been possible.

John 15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Fellowship

November 9, 2015

Pastor Romero and his wife, Maria stopped by Saturday to get supplies and turn in 79 decisions slips from the Flea Market in Lakeland, Fl.

It is always a joy to see them and fellowship. Maria speaks no English and we speak no Spanish but somehow the love of Jesus shines through and we communicate. When the pastor prays in Spanish, we know through the Holy Spirit that his prayers for us and the ministry reach the Father in Heaven.

Join with us in prayer for the Romeros and their church. He told us that the church has tripled in size since they have been witnessing at the flea market.

1 John 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Nicky

November 7, 2015

This is a photo of Tom Curtis and Nicky, Tom’s physical therapist. Nicky comes to help Tom recover from his surgery. Yesterday, Nicky asked Jesus to be his Savior.

He had been reading his Bible especially Revelation. He wanted to know more and the first thing Tom told him was the 3 Things God Can Not Do. Then explained the gospel and Nicky was excited to invite Jesus to be his Savior.

Sometimes in life things can be difficult (like a long recovery from surgery) but God uses that very situation to bring people to Himself. Nicky, along with several others may not have had the opportunity to accept Chirst if Tom had not needed home health care to help with his recovery. No one comes in to contact with Tom without being witnessed to and every doctor, nurse, lab worker, house cleaner heard about the Lord when he was in the hospital.

God tells us to be witnesses whatever the circumstances and He will give the increase.
