Manatee County Fair

January 22, 2010

The Manatee County Fair is going on right now. SOS has trained 2 churches to participate in the fair. Tom and Carolyn Curtis went to Palmetto, FL to help with opening night. 5 people came to know the Lord. One couple both in their late 70’s stopped by the booth and came in to get saved.
As they were filling out their decision cards the gentleman told the soul winner that he had talked to Tom last year but did not make a decision then. One year later, the Holy Spirit worked on his heart and both he and his wife were saved.
Some plant, some water but God gives the increase. Please pray as there are 3 days remaining at that fair.
Pray for souls, workers strength and conviction of the Lord to draw people to the booth.

Blessed New Year from SOS Events

December 30, 2009

Our staff wishes everyone a Blessed New Year. You can be a vital part of this ministry through prayer and/or support. God blessed SOS with faithful staff, volunteers and supporters in 2009 and our prayer is that He will do even greater things in 2010.
Prayer requests are: good health for staff, wisdom for the schedule, safety when traveling, new workers for SOS and most of all many new converts in 2010.

The Night Before Jesus Came

December 18, 2009

Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be The Day!

The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! Returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name:
When He said, “It’s not here” my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late:
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight:
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There’s only one life and when comes the last call
We’ll find that the Bible was true after all!

The staff of SOS Events prays that you are looking forward to Jesus coming again and we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.

A Timely Message

December 15, 2009

Seven years ago this information was given to me.
It is the desire of SOS Ministries to provide it to you for your awareness.

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her, “How could God let something like this happen?” (Regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, “I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?”

In light of recent events…terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O’Hare (she was murdered) complained she didn’t want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem
(Dr. Spock’s son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he’s talking about. And we said OK. Now we’re asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Isn’t this taking place today? What can you do about it?

Two Delivery men saved at SOS office

December 14, 2009

God is so good. SOS has received several Christmas offerings this year and with these extra funds we were able to purchase a much needed used storage shed. Thank you to all our faithful supporters and those of you who gave extra in these difficult financial times.
We hired 2 men to deliver and set up the shed. Tom asked if he could help and they said “No.” They skillfully placed and secured the shed for immediate use.
After they completed the job, Tom invited them into the office. He asked them if they knew the “3 Things God Can Not Do.” They did not know but said they would like to know what the 3 Things were.
Tom set a presentation board on the table and proceeded with the explaination of the “3 Things God Can Not Do”. Then he pointed to the sign on the wall, “Are you 50, 75, or 100% sure if you died right now you would go to heaven?”
Their answer was “We don’t know.”
Tom Asked, “Would you like to know for sure?”
The plan of salvation was explained and received and now there is two new Christians born into the family of God.
God will bring the lost to you if you ask and are prepared.

Harrison Rally Day – Riegel’s Report

November 9, 2009

SOS Soul Winners Sharing the 3 Things(by Don and Shirley Riegel) Our church had a booth at Harrison Rally Day (HRD). The “Three Things God Cannot Do” were presented to 203 people of which there were 26 decisions to trust Christ (17 for the first time and 9 for assurance). We had six workers at the booth plus one who was trained two years ago and was not on the schedule. Pray that our church will do more outreach events like this and that all members and young people will take the training. One rather shy man had tried to witness to people before, but he had not seen anyone receive Christ as Savior as the result of his effort until HRD. He had twelve people pray to be saved including five girls at one time. When asked “Do you plan to use the SOS method again and would you encourage others to take the training and work at the booth?”, he said “yes!”

Testimony from a Shy Soul Winner“Achieving God’s purpose involves taking faith filled risks (Heb. 11:6). That’s exactly what I did recently when I stepped out of my comfort zone and, in faith, took the SOS training. I followed the Holy Spirit’s leading to bring others to Christ at the recent Harrison Rally Days.
Taking a faith filled risk, is one of our core values, and I feel SOS gives me more passion now to tell others about Jesus. It will help me to be more of a “doer of the Word and not just a hearer only.” WW (OH)

167 Saved at James Dean Days

October 24, 2009

What a blessing, 167 people gave their lives to Christ at the James Dean Festival this year in Fairmount, IN. This festival runs for 3 days and it rained (poured) the first day, but 40 souls were saved. What a temptation to close up and go where it was warm and dry but we chose to stick it out and what a harvest God gave us.
Saturday dawned sunny but cool and we had a good number saved that day. Then Sunday came, along with the wind. Our tent actually lifted off the ground and finally we had to take it down but did we quit? NO!! And once again God gave the increase of many souls that day. Ending with a total of 167!! God is so good and faithful and He wants us to be faithful also, and truly the windows of Heaven opened and showers of blessing was the result.

Tom and Carolyn Back in the Office

October 16, 2009

After 1 month of travel Tom and Carolyn are back in the office for a few weeks before traveling again. Many exciting things happened on their travels which we will post in the coming days.
One great answer to prayer was when a truck towing a trailer went out of control right in front of the motor home on busy I-85. As the truck spun around in the middle of the road Tom & Carolyn prayed for the safety of the people in the truck. The miracle was all traffic stopped before hitting that truck, including a huge 18 wheeler, and of course Tom’s motor home. When the truck finally came to a stop on the side of the road, Tom got out and ask the man if he had ever seen a miracle. The man said, “No.” Tom told him, “Well, I just witnessed one” and led that man to the Lord right on the side of the road. Isn’t God great.

Wonderful results in NJ

September 18, 2009

What a blessing when Tom and Carolyn Curtis went to NJ this past weekend. The event was Septemberfest in Hamilton. 72 souls were saved at the event. Not only souls were saved but some of the teens that came to Florida for training last month worked in the booth and led many to the Lord.
What a testimony to the church and to other teens who saw their friends leading people to the Lord. One of our prayers for SOS is to make a difference in Christians lives and we want especially to focus on young people. If they can catch the vision to win souls at a young age then they have the rest of their lives to witness without fear. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to use this ministry to reach both Christians and the lost.

What is SOS Events?

September 9, 2009

GardenWhat is SOS Events?

SOS Events is a ministry started to reach people, to do what God commands and spread the gospel.

The Bible teaches there is only ONE WAY to get to Heaven:

A. Admit that you have sinned. “For All have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD. Romans 3:23
B. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. “That if thou shall confess with thy mouth and shalt believe in thine heart that GOD hath raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans10:9b
C. Call upon the Lord. “For whosoever (you) shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
PRAY:
Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner, I believe you died on the cross for forgiveness of my sins, I ask that you forgive my sins, come into my heart and make my life new. I receive you as my Savior. Thank you, Jesus. Amen
If you do these things you will go to Heaven.

SOS means Serving Our Savior.

God called Tom and Carolyn Curtis, founders of SOS Events, to evangelize the USA. They have committed their lives to the Lord full time.

Who do you know that needs to be born again? What have you done to tell that person how to be saved? Salvation comes by hearing the Word of God. God provided the method and the tools to reach people through SOS Events.

SOS trainers teach churches, youth groups and all ages of people how to invest their time serving God which is our “reasonable service.”

After many years of leading people to salvation, SOS needs much prayer, financial support and committed people to partner with us, to lead friends, neighbors and people at events to salvation.

If you have a friend or relative who is unsaved, give SOS a way to contact them and we will do our best to get the gospel to them. Better, yet, SOS can teach you how to be a better witness and through the Holy Spirit you could be the one to lead them to Christ.

SOS desires to send this newsletter to all who wish to receive it, however, if for any reason you would like to be removed from our mailing list please let us know by email info@sosevents.org or phone
Carolyn 813-494-7927.

YOU CAN BE A GREAT PARTNER TO SOS Events.

If each person that reads this would commit to only $5.00 a month SOS Events could see even more souls come to the Lord each year!!
