Keeping in mind that all Scripture is given by the inspiration of God, the Book of Proverbs is designed to make us contemplate the fear of God and living by His wisdom.
The word “proverb” means “to be like”. Proverbs is a book of comparisons between common, concrete images and life’s most profound truths. Proverbs are simple, moral statements or illustrations that highlight and teach fundamental realities about life.
Take time to read the book of Proverbs in the Bible to gain wisdom in your relationship to God, yourself and to others.
How can we change ourselves? We can be transformed. Everything we do starts in our mind. What we think about is how we act and what we do.
We can change by changing how we think. If we think worldly thoughts we will act worldly.
What do we put in our minds everyday? News, TV, social media, entertainment and other things that cloud our minds with distractions that can led us into sin.
We can stop how we think and be transformed by renewing what we put into our mind.
The best place to start is daily Bible reading and prayer. Then stop whatever we are listening to, reading or watching things that do not bring right thought into our mind. Will it be easy? No. Can it be done? Yes. Ask God to help us in think on good things.
With all the false things we see and hear in the media and other sources that may or may not be true, where can we go to find absolute truth?
God’s Word is truth. The one place you can go to be sure what God says in His Word is true. Proven through time.
The best thing we can be sure of is where we will spend eternity. Jesus is the way and the truth.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. John 14:6-7
How do you make a sandwich? Make preparations by getting the ingredients together.
First you have to choose the bread. White, whole wheat, rye or some other kind.
Then the filling. Roast beef, chicken, tuna, peanut butter or whatever you like in a sandwich. Maybe you prefer something spicy or hot.
Then you top it with mayo, mustard, ketchup or something to make it taste good. Put the other piece of bread and it is finished.
Do you know how to make a spiritual sandwich?
Make preparations by praying about the situation.
Maybe you have a family member, coworker or friend that you need to reprimand for something they are doing that is wrong or not pleasing to God.
Make a sandwich. First choose something that the person you need to correct has done right. Compliment them for the good thing they have done.
Then the meat or filling. Tell them what they need to do to correct the error of their ways.
Top it with LOVE. Love makes whatever is unpleasant go down smoothly.
Put the top on it with something positive and encouraging.
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. James 5:19 & 20
O be careful little eyes what you see O be careful little eyes what you see For the Father up above Is looking down in love So, be careful little eyes what you see.
This little song that we teach to children has a good message for adults. It goes on to say “Be Careful, ears what you hear, tongue what you say, hands what you do, feet where you go, heart who you trust, and finally, mind what you think.” Our Father God does love us and is watching.
Our body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and He goes wherever we go. Something to think about today. Be careful!
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
This verse is good advice for very Christian. Stop and really listen to someone who is speaking to you.
Do not be in a hurry to give your opinion or advice.
Do not get angry if they say something you do not agree with. Think about what they are saying and try to understand where they are coming from. Anger does not show God’s love and righteousness.
Many people will be celebrating New Year’s Eve tonight drinking, going to parties, etc., only to start the New Year with a headache and hangover. We can start our New Year with a clean heart.
Christians take time this evening to pray for forgiveness for the unconfessed sins that we have committed.
If you have never accepted Jesus as your Savior there is no better way to start a new year than becoming a new person in Christ.
Happy New Year. May 2025 bring you and your loved ones peace and joy that only the Lord can give.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
How you speak and what you speak is important! Are your words acceptable in God’s sight?
We need to be careful how we speak. It is easy to say the right things when everything is going well and we are surrounded by other Christians. But what about in the times of stress, anger, hurt feelings or another situation that is not pleasant.
Do we speak with anger or sharpness. Maybe we take out our frustration on spouse or children. That is not the way God wants us to react.
How can we overcome the sin of speaking out words that we know we shouldn’t say. This verse gives us the answer. The meditation of our heart.
Read God’s Word daily. Meditate on what He is telling us. Pray and ask God to guard our lips.
What we say and how we say it is important. Thankfully God is quick to forgive. Ask His forgiveness. Also, apologize to the person you may have hurt with your unkind words.
