What we think about controls how we live and react to every situation in our lives.

God tells us in His Word what we should think about.

If we think about things that make us not trust God, we become worried and fearful.

This one verse tells us how to overcome anxiety. Let us decide today to think on good things and ask God to help us to think about the things in this verse that will bring peace and joy into our lives.

Making A Difference

“You can’t win everybody to the Lord, but you can always win somebody.” John R. Rice

John R. Rice was one of the greatest preachers on soul winning in times past. He was a man of few words unless he was in the pulpit but when he spoke people listened.


This quote reminds me of a story I once read about a little boy on the beach.
He was throwing starfish that had washed up on shore back in the water. There were hundreds of them.
An old man came along and asked the boy why he was throwing them back in the water. “You can’t save them all. You can’t even tell the difference. There are still hundreds of them.”
As the little boy picked up another starfish, threw it in the water, he said, “It makes a difference to this one.”

It Is Well With My Soul

This great hymn was written in a time of tragedy. The Spafford family had lost their small son in the same year 1871 as the Chicago fire. He also suffered financial problems due to the fire.

Hoping a voyage would ease the pain of loosing the son, Horatio sent his family on an ocean liner to Europe, planning to join them later.

Their 4 daughters died in the shipwreck (pictured above). His wife survived the wreck.

On his way to meet his grieving wife, passing the spot where his daughters died, Horatio G. Spafford wrote these words.

When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul. Chorus: It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul

And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, shall keep your hearts, your minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7.

God’s Creation

In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth and everything in it.

God speaks to us through His creation. A sunrise or sunset, the sky at night, a beautiful flower or the birth of a newborn baby.

Even the unbeliever can look at what God created and see His handy work. Then knowledge begins to dawn on him that there is God. That is the first step toward salvation.

Are You Ready?

Today in our world there is a great lack of true wisdom. We see politicians make decisions that effect all of us but they don’t want these decisions to pertain to themselves.

Some police officers believe they are above the law but are quick to make the average citizen obey whatever they say.

Teachers who take advantage of students, etc., we could go on and on, but the main problem is that we have allowed the lawmakers to take God out of our society.

We need wisdom in our homes, our cities, counties and nation.

Today’s post is one that was written four years ago and unfortunately nothing has changed. In fact things are getting worse. The Bible does predict that things will get worse before Jesus returns. Are you ready for His return?

Be Careful How You Speak!

Let us work on speaking kind words and edifying, not discouraging.

Ephesians 4:29 – Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers

Wait!!

One of the hardest things to do is wait.

In the waiting room at a hospital, waiting for news of a loved one who is in surgery or had a life threatening accident.

Waiting for the birth of a baby and the labor seems to go on too long.

Waiting for an exciting event. An engagement or a wedding.

Many times in our lives we have things when we have to wait for various events and we get anxious about the outcome. Our heart beats faster and we feel like we can’t breathe.

Take a deep breath. The Bible tells us to be of good courage, God is with us no matter what the circumstance.

A Good Resolution For 2021

Christmas is over, time to take down the beautiful decorations and keeping in our hearts the memories of Christmas 2020. It always makes me sad to put away those wonderful things that make Christmas special every year. As we put away the lights, tree, nativity sets, let us NOT put away the truth of Christmas, Jesus was born into this world to be our Savior, and it is our responsibility to tell others. So let us make a resolution to be better witnesses in 2021, and Serve Our Savior with more zeal than we ever had before.

Witnessing is a little more difficult because of social distancing and lack of events and physical gatherings, but we can make phone calls, write notes and use social media to be a witness for the Lord. Be creative. Think of someone today who needs the Lord and pray for him or her, and then contact them. People need the Lord now more than ever.

Acts 26:22-23 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come.
