God Heals

January 20, 2015

The Lord once again has given back health to Tom, founder of SOS Events Ministry. Tom had been housebound for almost 7 months. Some days during those months there was almost a certainty that Tom would be home with the Lord within hours.
But God is not finished with Tom yet. In the last month, he has been gaining strength, is able to walk without cane or walker and is back to going to events to win people to the Lord.
This picture of Tom was taken last weekend at the Big Top Flea Market in Tampa, Florida.
Praise the Lord for His healing power.

James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

My Tribute by Andrea Crouch

January 19, 2015

How can I say thanks
for the things You have done for me?
Things so undeserved,
yet You gave to prove Your love for me;
the voices of a million angels
could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and ever hope to be,
I owe it all to Thee.

[Chorus 1:]
To God be the glory,
to God be the glory,
to God be the glory
for the things He has done.

[Chorus 2:]
With His blood He has saved me,
with His power He has raised me;
to God be the glory
for the things He has done.

[Bridge:]
Just let me live my life,
let it pleasing, Lord to Thee,
and if I gain any praise,
let it go to Calvary.

Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

To God Be The Glory

January 12, 2015

“To God Be The Glory” is one of the hymns written by Fanny Crosby. She was blind from the age of six weeks old, when a doctor applied the wrong medication to her eyes.
She was well educated, became a teacher, married and wrote many hymns that are in our hymnals today.
She lived to be 95 years old and her love for the Lord is evident in the words of her many songs. A good example to us how a person can look at the bright side of life even through hardships and adversity.
1 To God be the glory, great things he has done;
so loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the lifegate that we may go in.
Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord; let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord; let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory; great things he has done.
2 O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to every believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
3 Great things he has taught us, great things he has done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
but purer and higher and greater will be
our wonder, our gladness, when Jesus we see.

John 11:4
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

January 6, 2015

The hymn, “His eye is on the Sparrow” was inspired by a couple, the Doolittle’s of Elmira, New York.
The wife had been confined to bed for many years.
Her husband was a semi invalid and worked from his home in a wheelchair.
The songwriter, Civilla Martin, tells of the visit to the Doolittle’s in 1904.
She was impressed with the joyful spirit the Doolittle’s maintained in spite of their severe disabilities.
She ask Mrs. Doolittle how she could continue such a joyful spirit when she had so many problems.
Her answer was “How can I be discouraged when my heavenly Father watches over each little sparrow and I know he loves and cares for me.”
Mrs. Martin was so impressed over the joyful attitude that she immediately wrote the words to the hymn “His Eye is on the Sparrow.”
This hymn has been recorded by several artists and has been an encouragement to many of God’s people.

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain:
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Luke 12:6-7
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore:ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Hebrews 13:6

Good News

January 4, 2015

The first new day of the first new week of the new year starts today. Some people are looking forward to a new workweek, others are dreading the prospect of going back to work or school tomorrow. A few may feel hopeless but there is good news. If you are a Christian there are many promises in God’s Word the Bible.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
If you are not a Christian there are promises in God’s Word for you also.
John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
To receive Him, (JESUS), ask Him to forgive your sins, believe He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again after the third day, and that He did, so you could be saved. Then call on Him in prayer.

Love

January 2, 2015

“Faith makes all things possible… love makes all things easy.” ~ D.L. Moody
This is a great quote for witnessing. When you talk to someone about being saved and have faith that God will save them that is good, however if you witness to them out of duty and do not have love for them, then witnessing becomes a chore and not a blessing.
Faith and love go together. Many unsaved people do not realize that God loves them. It is our example of love toward them than will show them their need of a Savior.

1 Timothy 1:14
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Temptation

December 30, 2014

New Years Day is almost here and many are thinking of starting out new. Here are a few Resolutions. “I’m going on a diet.” “I’m going to quit smoking.” “I’m going to exercise everyday.” “I’m not going to charge anything on my credit card.”
These are just a few that come to mind. How long do these resolutions last? Usually just until that temptation gets too strong and then the resolution is gone. A week? Two weeks?
Do you really want to start new? There is only one way to overcome temptation. Trusting in Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Joy to the World

December 18, 2014

IMG_2035.JPG
Christmas would not seem like Christmas without signing and hearing the hymn ” Joy to the World”. Written in the 1700’s by Isaac Watts, it was not intended to be a Christmas Carol but was published in Psalms of David Imitated.
Watts intended the verses to honor Jesus second coming rather than His birth, but over the years the focus has been on the joy that Jesus was born.
The melody is by George Fredrick Handel.
In this troubled world today we need to sing songs of joy. Jesus was born to bring salvation to the world. He was born, died, rose again and IS coming again. JOY to the World.

Luke 2:10
And the angel said unto them, Fear not:for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
