A Christian Father

June 18, 2016

“The Word of God is our chart and compass as Christian Fathers. Without it we lose our way.” Anonymous

A Christian father has a responsibility to teach his children the Word of God. To often in today’s world that training is left to Sunday school, Christian school, Grandma or neglected altogether. Getting the family together for Bible reading and prayer daily is the way to rear children who will not loose their way as teenagers and adults. Dads, it is not to late to start now.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Hard Things

June 17, 2016

Sometimes as Christians we have to do things that are really hard. Standing for your convictions when everyone else is going along with the crowd. Telling the truth when it would be easier to not say anything to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. Witnessing to a close friend or relative when you know they will reject the gospel. Forgiving someone who has seriously hurt you.

These are just a few things that we may be called on to do. But we have the power and strength to do whatever is hard because God is with us in every situation and will bless our efforts when we follow Biblical principles. If we pray about those hard things and trust God to help us do the right thing, He does give the power and strength to do them.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

A Special Find

June 14, 2016

“God Will Carry You Through” is the title of a book by Max Lucado. Not necessarily one of my favorite authors but I found this book on my bookshelf with a personal note from my husband, Tom Curtis, who went home to be with the Lord one month ago today. (This book sat on the shelf for 2 years and I never picked it up until today)

How special and wonderful is the Lord. The note said, “The Lord showed me this book. Read it before you write the blog. I love you. Tom

How perfect. The blessing is to know That God will carry me through and He will carry you through each problem and difficulty in life. The Bible has so many wonderful verses to help in every situation. All we have to do is trust Him and claim the promises in His Word.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Alex

June 8, 2016

Today is Wednesday and Flea Market day, however, because of Colon (the tropical storm) the ground may be too wet to set up. The following testimony is from Ramona last week at the SOS Events booth:

Just have to share what happened at SOS last week while sharing Jesus at the Flea Market. There was a man next to us selling his stuff and it was really hot, so he decided to sit down under our canopy and talk to us awhile. While he was there he shared with me that he was a Muslim, speaks English, Spanish and a little Arabic. While we were sitting there Alice had the opportunity to lead two young women to the Lord. He was listening to what was being said. Later he told Randy and I that he would be happy to translate in Spanish anything that needed to be said of course we did not take him up on it, but I was praying that God would do a work in his heart while we were there. He was very kind and kept wanting to give us stuff for free. I told him he needed his stuff so he could make some money and he just said no mamasita I want you to have it so I didn’t want to be rude!! So I said thank you. Please remember Alex in your prayers. He is such a nice guy and I think he would be a wonderful soul winner if he did ask Jesus into his heart!!!

John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

Peace Be Still

June 6, 2016

Mark 4:39And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Residents of Florida and the East Coast are preparing for a tropical storm named Colin. June 1st, hurricane season starts. Many people fear these storms and it is right to take precautions, however, as Christians we know that the Lord is in control.

We also have “storms” in our lives for which we have no control, but He is the only One who can control every situation with those words, “Peace be still.” Whatever the storm is for you today or in the future if it be physical, mental or spiritual turn to Jesus to calm your fears and bring peace to your heart.

Obedience

June 5, 2016

Obedience is what God says, when He says, for whatever reason He says and where He says. We learn to obey God by trusting Him and waiting on Him in prayer. You cannot live an obedient life without the Bible.

Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Love One Another

June 2, 2016

1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

Hymn, I Need Thee

Every hour I need Thee;

O bless me now, my Savior,

I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;

Temptations lose their power when Thou art nigh.

I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;

Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;

And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;

O make me Thine indeed, Thou blessèd Son.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Freedom

May 28, 2016

Memorial Day weekend should be a time when we remember the men and women who fought and died to give us the freedom we enjoy in the USA. There are many who read this who do not have the freedom of religion, speech, the press, peaceful assembly and the right to address grievances to the government.

The United States of America is a wonderful place to live but it does not come without the sacrifices of our military men and women, both past and present, who give their lives to give us our freedom. Most of all remember that in Christ all are free through His great sacrifice on the cross.

Many will spend this weekend out at the beach, picnics, amusement parks and various other activities  without a thought for why they have this long weekend to enjoy whatever they choose to do.

So stop! For just a few minutes to pray and thank the Lord for freedom and the fallen heroes, and pray for those who are still serving in the military today. Then enjoy the rest of this weekend with thankful hearts.

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
