Church, Full or Empty

December 4, 2016

The church is decorated for Christmas, wreaths, garlands, lights, beautiful flowers. The choir is prepared, the Pastor has his message ready and the congregation comes to worship. There are two times a year when the churches are full, Christmas and Easter. Both times are to celebrate the coming of Jesus. Christmas to celebrate His birth and Easter to celebrate his coming out of the grave and victory over death.

Are you a two times a year church goer? If that is the only time you worship Jesus, you may miss His second coming when He will meet born again Christians in the air. Then the churches that preach the gospel should be empty. Think about going to church and it is almost empty. No Pastor, no choir, only a few people who missed the true message of Jesus birth. God sent His Son as a gift that we might be saved. Do not be left to go to an empty church. Accept God’s gift of salvation today, then go to church and celebrate Jesus’ birth and you can truly worship from your heart.

Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas

December 2, 2016

“Happy Holidays” is what you hear when shopping this year. Store cashiers and employees are trained not to say “Merry Christmas.” We must not offend anyone. What a shame. Just one more way the enemy has used to take Christ out of Christmas.
As Christians our response should be “Merry Christmas”. There would be no Holy day without Jesus. Let us honor our Lord every chance we get. Keep Christ in Christmas by your words but more importantly keep Him first in your heart. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
1 Peter 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

(Note that many of this years Christmas blogs are repeated from prior years but still to good to not repeat)

The Christmas Tree

November 26, 2016

The left overs from Thanksgiving are eaten or put away, now is the time people start to decorate their homes for Christmas. We will look at some of the traditions of Christmas and see how we can celebrate the birth of Jesus when we put them up.

Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. The Christmas tree is a symbol of Christ. This very ancient custom, exalts the value of life, as in winter what is evergreen becomes a sign of undying life, and it reminds Christians of the tree of life.

Many Christians do not believe that you should have a tree because it was used in pagan holidays in ancient time, but whatever your thoughts on the matter we can use Christmas decorations to point to Christ.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The Forgotten Holiday

November 19, 2016

It is a few days before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, this holiday has been almost forgotten in America today. It gets lost between Halloween and Christmas as commercialism has taken over this true and only American Holiday. The pilgrims stopped to give thanks to God for safety and provisions as they survived a perilous journey and a very hard time getting started in a new land. Many did loose their lives but the remaining people knew it was God who allowed them to survive.

Take time in these coming days before Thanksgiving to stop and be thankful to God for a specific thing each day. Let us not get into the trap of using this special holiday to just eat turkey and look for the shopping deals. Thank the Lord for His bountiful blessings.

2 Corinthians 9:11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

Peace

Pray for peace to the only One who can give it, Jesus.

Precious Saint

November 15, 2016

Ruby Mack, a faithful Senior Servant with SOS Events Ministry went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 11, 2016. She was born November 19, 1919 and would have been 97 had she reached her birthday. She was a great blessing to SOS Events and never missed a monthly meeting until she became to ill to attend. She was the sweetest, dedicated Christian and was loved by all the ladies in Senior Servants. Ruby had the most beautiful smile, never complained and was a diligent worker. She will be missed but remembered fondly.

Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Pray for Our Leaders

November 10, 2016

We need unity and peace. The media has helped to create discord in our country. Christians, instead of watching the chaos take that time to pray for our leaders that they will be calm and seek Godly council. Now is the time for the USA to unite as one nation under God.

1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Election Results

November 9, 2016

The election is over and many people are very happy today and many are disappointed. Now more than ever is the time to pray for our country the United States of America. Pray that our country will be healed. Pray for wisdom for our leaders. It’s really up to us as Christians if our country will be better or worse in the next four years. The Bible tells us that if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and seek my face I will heal their land. Let us as Christians search our hearts to see if there is any wicked way in us, repent of anything in our lives that displease God and watch God keep His promises.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Citizenship

November 5, 2016

The forefathers of the USA gave us many freedoms when they wrote and approved the Constitution, but the greatest freedom of all is freedom from sin provided by Jesus when he shed His blood to pay for our sins. It is a great blessing to be a citizen the USA by being born in the Country or to apply for citizenship. To become a citizen of Heaven we must be born again.

John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
